I've been trying to walk 5 miles a day for a couple of weeks. Why does my glucose seem to rise after my walks. Its extremely frustrating.

@bdubya55 can correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading that it's your body's way of launching post-workout recovery/muscle repair. Your liver (I think) pushes stored sugar into your bloodstream for recovery/muscle rebuilding fuel. As you know, almost all exercise tears down muscles (not completely but on a microscopic level), so all that stored sugar helps with repairs and gives you the earned increase in strength as a result. If your pancreas is functioning decently, that spike should be temporary because insulin comes out at the right rate to balance everything out. Besides, exercise is actually ultimately really good for BG.0

This is true for me too. If I forget to take my morning test and then do my workout and test afterwards, my fasting BG is much much higher.
If you are using your walks to justify eating more calories, you might rethink that.
If you are taking walks on an empty stomach, it may be good to move them to right afer a meal or a vegetable/protein snack.
The high BG could also signify you are ready for something other than just a walk - try doing some body resistance stretches, swing your arms, do some kicks, etc. to get your lymph fluids to keep circulating, even after your walk is done.0 -

This is common after exercising...your liver just pumping out glucose to fuel your workout. It's a GOOD thing as body getting rid of some of its stored up sugar. No worries! Test BG 2 hrs after workout not right after...should normalize by then!1
