:s Not altogether surprising, but sad nonetheless...

Here's a snippet from Sourcewatch on the ILSI, the "research" entity said to have conducted the industry offensive.

    http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/International_Life_Sciences_Institute

"International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) is a multi-faceted Washington DC-based global network of think-tanks, scientific societies and institutes. It is a "Two-level" organisation which provides both legitimate scientific associations with members from government, universities and legitimate laboratories on the surface, but with a subterranean layer of corporate PR and science-corruption executives which provides their funders with global lobbying services."

    RalfLott,

I get medscape, which is for medical doctors, nurses. I'm neither. But there was a big fracus because the FDA is paid by the drug companies. And they were talking how the FDA will fastrack a drug if the company pony's up some extra cash.

Who can you trust anymore? Those in the highest offices are on the take.

I wish I had an answer.

    Everyone needs income, of course.

But information in situations where the product / service being offered follows the research (as in the case of Virta, Adapt, L-Nutra, etc.) is surely better than research designed to protect profits....

Whenever a study "finds" something, follow the money. The tobacco industry funded a lot of studies that found no link between lung cancer and smoking for the longest time.

This reminds me of a study done decades ago by university researchers. They had two test groups of rats: one fed on nothing but best selling breakfast cereals with milk and the other fed on nothing but the cereal cardboard boxes with milk. Neither group did all that well but the cardboard eaters didn't do any worse.

I think this explains quite well how we should view most "studies" presented in main stream media.

It would be funnier if it weren't so true.
