Weather was crazy today in Ohio! Storms all day, though I do like opening the windows and letting the cats enjoy the storm. My oldest kitty always lounges and listens to the thunder with me.

Going great so far. I am only 1 pound away from 30 down. That's where I usually lose the battle wit my journey. I have never made it past 30 pounds lost at any given time. I know I can/will do it this time. I have my goal to reach for. I have had some ups and downs on this journey already but I will not give in or give up.

My niece and I are going to join a gym this week so we can work-out. I gotta start moving more if I want my goal to happen. I have my plans set..now just need to follow through...and I intend to.

    How is everyone else doing?

It's so nice to see some familiar faces/names! Hi, everyone!

I haven't been on here for close to a year. I injured my knee and started gaining weight and became discouraged. I have been working on getting back on track for over 3 months with some loss and then regaining, etc. My Curves coach urged me to think about what did I do when I was successful a few years ago and MFP was one thing I hadn't resumed so here I am.

Hi everyone! I haven't been around for awhile either. I've been struggling with a small amount of regain -- about 20 lbs of 120 lbs lost. It doesn't sound like much, but I have severe obesity and need to loose another 75-100 lbs. Even though I cut back my eating to where it was when I lost all the weight, and then cut it a little more, my weight kept creeping up. Incredibly discouraging that my body's preservation mechanisms were fighting so hard against me! So I really cut back -- about 500 calories less a day -- and the scale finally started to move down. That's a good thing of course, but I'm hungry a lot of the time. I saw my obesity specialist today and we talked about other possibilities in the "toolbox." I'm adding a second weight management medication to my routine. I'm hoping it helps with the hunger so that I can keep on the downward track.

I guess my point with writing all of this is to confirm that obesity is hard. It's chronic and unrelenting. And we should all be proud of doing what we can to take control of our health.

Well said, people sometimes think that it is only a matter of less calories but a lot of medical and mental health stuff interferes, all we can do is keep working at it, and love our selves no matter what!

Well after a long weekend... The stressful lomg, not the extended long... I am counting down until i get my house and fridge back.... I am going to start back at the gym wednesdays on the treadmill and then start trying to do lap swimming one day on the weekends. I am still stalled on the weight loss, so its a matter of trying to find the right balance for me!!! Got to love the constant change, trial amd error

@HLaR79 Finding the right balance sure is difficult, isn't it? Wish I had a magic potion.....

And when you do get it right, your body changes then the balance needs to change... The best trick i have learned is to never stop trying and lots of self forgiveness...

I don't know how to make the MFP progress thing to work, the news is that I have lost 50 pounds! The worry is how to keep going, just 150 more to go! I weigh in tomorrow and I'm really scared, not a good week. I'm too old for this, when do I learn and get it? Gayle Minneapolis

Hi Gayle! Good for you! I'm with you on the being scared of weighing in. I've made some progress towards considering that number as just data -- it's not good or bad, and it doesn't define my self-worth. It's just a signpost that helps determine whether you're on the right path. I'm not saying it's easy to view the scale numbers this way. But when I manage to stay in that frame of mind, it really helps!

Why do we make excuses for how we look?

I died my hair in a violet purple ombré style... I love the purple but every time someone says something I make an excuse... I was just having fun, it's okay it washes out.... I keep it tied up out of my way

It's hard to embrace ourselves so done making excuses for wanting to love myself!!!

I like purple!! Did my bangs blue, most people liked it!! It was fun, tried pink but my hair wouldn't take it, maybe there was a good reason. Most people don't love themselves, we are taught not to. Blame it on the world, parents, etc, it just is. Comes down to tolerating or liking ourselves most of the time. Trust me with time we will make some peace, just breathe and walk with your purple hair, you paid for it, it's yours. Gayle

For the last few months I have been having occasional numbness and tingling in my left arm, accompanied by some pain, well on Tuesday I was very uncomfortable in the shoulder and arm and Friday I landed in urgent care centre because I could not handle the pain... so firstly when your a late 30's woman who is fat and takes lots of meds and then presents with arm and shoulder pain they immediately treat you like a heart attack... once they determined I had no intentions of dropping dead... we found it is nerve damage, they can't pinpoint where or why just that it's near the neck... and in the meantime I get to live in agony until I can get some specialized testing... good times!!! So I have not done goals in a few days and when I start goals tomorrow they won't be very physical as movement increases my pain. I will have to be very good conscious so this doesn't set me back...

HLaR79, so glad it wasn't a heart attack but sad you are in pain. Hopefully they can figure out a treatment to resolve this quickly.

Happy Mother's Day to all who are moms or had an awesome mom as I do.

I am tired of salad for lunch at work so brought a bag of Steamfresh green beans and my 4oz citrus mango chicken. While my coworkers May have laughed, I really liked it as another option. Not sure why I hadn't thought of it before.

Any other ideas for work lunches?

    Why did your co-workers laugh??

I have problems with salads because of some medications I'm on. So I take 1.5-2 cups of frozen (unsweetened) mixed berries and a container of 2% fat plain greek yogurt. I leave the berries out of the fridge for the morning. By the time lunch rolls around, they're usually pretty well defrosted with lots of juice. I mix in the yogurt and sometimes add a little very low sugar granola on top. (I use Bare Naked brand Fit cereal.) I love this combo because it's easy, has almost no added sugar, gives me a little bit of fat, and tastes yummy every time!

I at times have taken those little Hillshire Farm snacking plates - did today, in fact, along with a svelte cappucino for added protein. I try to make enough at dinner to have left overs for the next day, too. I've been known to eat jerky and some fruit, and once I took a couple of hard boiled eggs. I was taking some cottage cheese as it's an excellent protein source, but I have to be careful of having too much dairy, and that was too much. I've had to back off on it and yogurt.

Jltheis i hope it wasnt a judgy laughing at you, people are so harsh. ... There are so many options that im exploring with my son right now, his favorites are chicken salad wraps with fresh chicken and lettuce and cucumber with a bit of dressing, they travel well enough and are easy to eat, or chicken salad on crackers with cheese and pickles, that can get high on the sodium so you need to be watchful of it. I make the chicken salad with cooked chicken from home not the canned stuff
