It definitely takes me longer to recover than it used to. I switched from powerlifting to weightlifting last fall after watching the Olympics and thinking, I'd like to do that! I'm not very smart! I have greatly improved my strength and flexibility though! I can squat on my heels now and watch an entire tv show like that.
I work out with a bunch of under 30 lifters. I have a wonderful coach and consider myself lucky he chose to train me. I'm by far the worst lifter, but hey I'm almost 59. I still deadlift though just to scare the younguns and am hoping to hit a 300 lb dead by the end of the year. After I deadlift though, I go home, eat a LOT, and take a nap! I bet the kids go for a hike or something. zzzzz7 -
I liked that video too. I'm dealing with an arthritic hip. I don't walk right because my back and hip muscles have conspired to protect my hip. Have been doing 20 minutes of stretching each day and have been doing exercises to strengthen my legs and back. It takes time. But if you can identify the problem muscles, you should be able to get them to work correctly.
I think it's called plantar fasciitis that I'm suffering from. I'm doing stretching exercises & it's helping a little.
Would your doctor give you a physical therapy referral? That helped me a lot with some walking issues.0 -
I had to cut down a little. I was tired of my hips always hurting and shooting knee pains. I still take class 6 times a week, but I cut out the 2nd class on Thursdays, going on machines, and I don't jump like I used to.

I got a pt referral in February when my doctor diagnosed my hip. I did 5 months of pt, mostly stretching with some mobilization and strengthening. I learned how to stretch. You just relax and hold the stretch for 90 seconds. I more then doubled my range of motion in that time. I have continued to stretch at least 20 minutes a day. It is tedious, but necessary. I know what muscles are tight and slowly, they are responding to the stretching. I would like to get my muscles to a somewhat normal range and see if that helps the hip.0
