I'm still around! Still hanging in there and doing the best I can. To say that it's been a long summer so far is putting it mildly.

MamaCin??
So what's up that makes the summer so long? Weather or something more than that?0 -
Glad you checked in Cindy, but it sounds like summer isn't quite what it ought to be. Are you OK?

Yep..it's meWho is this? Obviously you were a member of the WW GOAD board since you know my "old" screen name
The weather has been fine. So much other stuff has happened that I don't even know where to begin <sigh>
I have had SEVERAL friends and family members diagnosed with life-threatening diseases since the middle of May. And I've lost two really good long-time friends since that time. One of my best friends lost her husband to cancer a month after he was diagnosed with spinal cancer.
The daughter of a cousin (with whom I'm very close) was just diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic melanoma a week ago. It has already spread to her lymph nodes, her ovaries, and her lung. We are waiting on the results of her MRI to see if it has spread to her brain. She's 45 years old and has a 12-year-old sonand the prognosis is not good.
One of my neighbors (45 years old) died from metastatic colorectal cancer. Two weeks later his mother-in-law (also a neighbor) died from pancreatic cancer that was diagnosed about 3 months ago.
And that's not all; but I won't continue because I hate to be a Debbie Downer <sigh> Too late?
I had to have a place biopsied on my upper thigh. To say that I was a nervous wreck while I waited for the results considering everything else that had been going on is putting it mildly. I don't think I slept through the night for the week while I was waiting for the results. I'm happy to report that the biopsy was negative!
The bad news is that I had a bad allergic reaction to the adhesive on the bandage that was put over the incision which I didn't know about until I went in to have the stitches removed; but that's being taken care of with hydrocortisone. No...I've never been allergic to any kind of tape or band-aids before; but the dermatologist said it's not unusual when you use a bandage for a long period of time.
And there you have it. Well part of it anyway.0 -
Amen Cindy it has been a year to forget for us too. DD had double mastectomy, gall bladder surgery and much more. Want a do over for sure.0

Glad to hear YOU'RE OK.0 -
@beachwoman2006 I was a casual poster on GOAD ww. I would stop by and read the posts. I thought you were interesting and supportive. Hope things get better for you.0

Wow, Cindy, that is a lot to deal with. I don't have any great words of inspiration, but I'm glad you are with us. Do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself.0

Cindy I feel your emotions DW found out she has stage 3 kidney failure in March;
Welcome back.0 -
That's a whole lotta tragedy to squeeze into such a short timeframe Cindy. Whew; I can certainly understand why your heart and head have been elsewhere! Sorry you're dealing with such difficult circumstances and equally glad to hear your own health is still on the right side.
My condolences for the heavy heart these situations bring--tough at any time but even more so stacked one on top of the other. Take as good care of yourself as you take of others.0 -
I am so sorry to hear of all of this. I hope you can find a way to enjoy the rest of your Summer.0
