Just looking for some inspiration. I'm 3 weeks in and feeling great. Loosley counting macros in my second trimester(25 weeks) and hoping for other like minded moms to be to add as friends.

I did but I gave myself more leeway with carbs, around 50-100 or so a day, enough to not keep me in ketosis. I remember the nurses weighing me and panicking because I was losing weight. My baby wasn't losing any weight, I was.. lol. They ended up sending me to a nutritionist who was super supportive of me and we'd review my diary every couple of weeks.

I remember most of my carbs were from eating 1 slice of toast at night with peanut butter w/almond milk while watching 2 broke girls :) It was some sort of sprouted grains bread which was very good.

I unfortunately didn't know about low carb until after my son was born, but had I knew then what I know now, I'd have been all over it. Blood sugar is one of the largest factors in both your health and the baby's, aside from overall nutrition, so anything that keeps it normalized is a good thing.

The other big thing is nutrition. The baby will get what it needs, even at your expense, at least until you're tapped out. From what I've seen, B vitamins, magnesium, and calcium/Vitamin D take the biggest/most noticeable hits. A good fish oil would be worth looking into (I'm partial to Green Pastures' fermented cod liver and high vitamin butter oil blend), since it supplies Omega-3s, vitamin A, vitamin D, and vitamin K2, the latter two of which are key in calcium absorption and getting it where it needs to be.

Summon the devil and she shall appear!
My last pregnancy (over 6 years ago) I failed the GTT spectacularly. So I was put on a low-carb diet. Over time I migrated a bit lower into what people would call LCHF territory in the last couple months as I just didn't want the bread or the pasta or sweets any more.

He was born tall and healthy, and, I would find out later, dangerously intelligent. Evil genius.
If I could go back and do it over and change one thing it would be to go LCHF with all my pregnancies.
I breastfed him until 21 months (he self-weaned) while LCHF as well.

Like Dragonwolf said, the baby will take what it needs from you, so all you need is to have a micronutrient-rich diet, enough calories, stay hydrated, and keep electrolytes balanced. And of course rest well and enjoy this time when you child is growing inside you.

I will be LCHF forever and ever. I always accept new friends and will until I blow-up the Friend limit.
Congrats on your baby and good for you for staying LCHF during pregnancy. I got one of my best friends to go low-carb ( she was so healthy and happy on it) but then she got pregnant and her idiot doc told her it was dangerous to be low-carb while pregnant. She proceeded to feel like crap the whole pregnancy. And she's not gone back to low-carb either. Oh well. Maybe she'll come back.

I was convinced I would have gestational diabetes because my slender mom did with both of her pregnancies. I was overweight both times I got pregnant, so I was sure I would have it. I avoided sugar and limited carbs. I also ate high fat because I figured the kids were making brains and needed fat. I didn't know about LCHF, but ended up eating that way.

I ended up not having GD...my fasting glucose was 80? My post sugar drink glucose was 93?

I had two easy pregnancies, two smooth deliveries and have two amazing children. :)

I am glad to hear this...I am still in my first trimester with a very high risk pregnancy that we are praying makes it through this most crucial time. I am still LCHF but I have upped my carbs some. I am averaging 50-75 per day now.

I haven't been following too closely these days, but there is a keto vlogger that announced her pregnancy not too long ago... kayladoesketo. I would suspect she still shares information on her progress with food, health and pregnancy....

Congratulations and best wishes for health & happiness!!

@hjackson1226 - depending on why you are considered high risk (low progesterone, autoimmune thyroiditis, hormonal issues like PCOS, previous miscarriages, incompetent cervix, Rh factor issues, or any other risk category factor, etc.), you might share that, if you feel comfortable doing so. There are many folks here who have had rainbow babies and might have condition specific information you can research and discuss with your medical team... Of course, if too much info is worrisome, completely disregard.

Crossing my fingers and sending you the absolute best of luck on your baby-brewing! (hugs)
