My vertigo is kicking my *kitten* this week, so I'm feeling like I'm putting in a less than stellar performance.

Oh dear that is not good. I've never had vertigo but hear it's bloody awful. Hope you feel better soon.

    Hello!!!

I'm back and I'm sorting this #@$& out. I need to give myself a hard talking to.

At weigh in this morning I'm 80.6kg and 42.7% fat. My long term goal weight is somewhere around the 60kg to 62kg mark. That means I have to lose somewhere around 18.6kg to 20.6kg.

The last time I was near my goal weight was October 2014. In fact, the last time I was even in the healthy weight range for my height was November 2015. I gained all the weight back due to life being crap and me getting massive depression, which I've got under control now.

I can do this. I've done it before and I will again. But this time will be the last time.

To prove I'm keen and motivated, I've just recently started training to be a PT. It's been a long term goal of mine since I lost the weight the first time. Now I'm making it happen, and I'm sorting myself out at the same time.

    Bring it!!!

Forgot to add, eating has become an issue for me. I've recently been diagnosed with eosinophilic oesophagitis and am waiting for my next specialist appointment to organise allergy testing to see what my triggers are. The thing that sucks is that one of the symptoms of it is weight loss. My body decided that's not a symptom it wants to take part of...lol

PJ - I'm sure you know that's an inflammation issue... Low carb High Fat diet will help you out.

I'm going to do the testing and see what it comes up with. Hopefully once I'm armed with the right information then I can form a proper plan of attack. I just want to feel better.

I'm interested in Keto but don't know much. Can you direct me to something (video or reading material) that would help explain it, please?

PJ - The site I like best for meal plans, recipes and a 2 week starter is dietdoctor.com. They also have LOTS of videos on all different topics relating to keto and regulation of hormones. Excellent site.

DR Jason Fung - world famous nephrologist who works to reduce patients type 2 diabetes and obesity. https://idmprogram.com/ - lots of links in his blog at the bottom of the page. He also has a podcast - The Obesity Code which is excellent to listen to in the car or commuting to work.

For a one simple video explanation from 2 Australian doctors of why keto is good for us go here: https://www.transformationdiet.com.au/
The first video is a good place to start.

Another podcast which is bloody fantastic is 2KetoDudes. They also have a forum which has a LOT of information and a whole section for newbies - you could be here for hours... https://www.ketogenicforums.com/

Hope that helps and good luck!

Ok so here is my update for this week just gone:
    • Food on track - following a keto diet (www.dietdoctor.com) :)
    • 3 planned workouts completed :)
    • 10,000 steps every day completed :)

      STATS
    • Age 49, 167cm
    • 2018 Starting weight: 91.4kg (ugh) - size 16-18
    • Current weight: 85.4kg - size 16
    • Weight Loss this year: 6kg :)
    • Goal weight: 65kg
    • Ultimate goal weight:60kg

My plan for this week is just to keep on keeping on. Stick to keto diet, walk 10,000 steps every day and do 3 workouts.

My next goal is to get under 82kg which will take me out of the obese category and put me back into the overweight category.

I'm actually feeling really good. Took my measurements this morning which wasn't pretty and I really didn't want to do it but they will be good to look back on when I get to my goal.

    How is everyone else doing?

    Great effort, Skim!

I'm starting a new challenge today: 2018 lose 52lb (23.5kg) in 52 weeks. I actually don't need to lose that much (my goal is 18-20kg or 39.5-44lb), but I'm starting a bit later than the challenge did (it started 01/01/2018) and by following this, next Summer I will be at my goal weight.

So here goes. Weigh in day will be Mondays and I will post each week in the following format:

    Challenge starting weight (21/01/2018): 80.6kg (177.7lb) 41.8% body fat
    Goal weight: 62kg (136.7lb)
    Current weight: 80.6kg (177.7lb) 41.8% body fat
    Total weight lost: 0
    This week's successes:

Hi everyone, sorry I've been a bit absent this week. On Monday the opportunity came up at work for a transfer/promotion which my boss encouraged me to go for - he's actually made phone calls about it on my behalf and so I have had a really busy week doing my job as well as getting an application together. Had first interview yesterday and second interview coming up on Monday and if I'm successful it starts Wednesday so I've been working working working!!

Didn't get to the gym this week due to long hours but am going to do a workout today on my new (second hand) Total Gym that I picked up for $30 last week, or the week before, time is already flying this year!!

Food has also been a bit off this week - I've been eating carbs which is a big NO NO for keto, so I'm getting back onto it today.

My weigh in day is Saturday and it looks like it will be the same as last week, but that's ok.

Great to see you all here. I'll go and check the news feed now to see whats happening!

Oh - and happy Australia Day!

    Happy Sunday MFPeeps!
Had a shocker of a day with food yesterday... OMG
Also didn't do my planned workout due to being super busy and it's also so bloody hot.

Today - back on it!! I'm not giving up on myself!

    How is everyone else going?

New job is great, yesterday was my first day - so busy didn't get home until late but it's a great distraction!

    How is everyone?

Confession: Last night I had chocolate AND icecream. Oh dear.
This week has been manic. Manic. And I think next week will be just as bad. I haven't even thought about me and my health this week, it's been all work.
This isn't good for me - I need to have time to plan my food and my exercise and DO it. So I'm going to have to refocus today and get my week ahead sorted out because this job is going to take over if I let it.

How is everyone else doing? Where are you? Come back I need you!!! <3

Hi Folks, this sounds like a fabulous idea. I hope I'm not too late to join the party? I have fallen off the wagon in a big way and have a heap of weight to lose, so disappointing after doing so well a few years ago. I have a holiday coming up in April and am dreading squeezing into the seat.
