Ah thanks @Mellykay88 I'll remember that in future! Think it was my iPad rather than my phone but still an app so that's most likely to be the issue. Annoying! Lol0

Had to buy my second new belt since September; my pants were falling off. Using belts as a measure, thats about 8 inches lost.5

@Mellykay88 That's so awesome on the pants size! I'm super jealous. I had to buy new slacks for an interview a few days ago and was expecting smaller sizes after almost 40 lbs down, but still ended up in size 30... Oh well! Soon enough.0
-
@rabidhamster87 you’ll get there! It took me about 50/60 lbs before I went down a pant size! Then about 40 more to get to the next! I hadnt been in a 24 very long, so only 30ish lbs to get to the 22s.
ETA: Good luck at the interview!!1 -
@mellykay88 my experience was similar to yours. I was in a 28W when I started, but had to drop a good 40 lbs before I could comfortably get into a 26W pair of jeans. At about 60 lbs loss, I started into 24's, and then at 90 lbs loss, I started into 22's. Now, at 100 lbs lost, I'm mostly into 22's, though still not quite comfortable in 22 jeans yet (it seems that regular blue jeans are the last kind of pants of a size that I get into).
so yeah, I too seemed to blast through 24 pretty quickly!
Tops are another story, as I prefer my tops loose. I have a bunch of men's 4X T-shirts that are finally getting to the "entirely too big" stage and I'll have to offload them come spring and move down to either a 3X or maybe even a men's 2X. In women's shirts, however, since they seem to be cut tighter anyway, I'm just now getting into 3X. I hate a tight shirt, especially tight button ups, and I where a lot of button ups!
Women's button up long sleeve shirts irk me, though: the sleeves are always, always too short! I have to open the cuff buttons and put a safety pin in them because the sleeves always ride up halfway to my elbow. I must have longer than usual arms! I wore a shirt yesterday that had belonged to my brother and I think I'm going to raid the men's department for shirts - the sleeve length was perfect!1 -

me and my sister both have problems with button up shirts , my sister is 6 foot 1 and I am 5 foot 10 so we are tall big women , yes we have always bought mens shirts , she buys mens pants too cause they are longer , she is only wearing like between 16 and 18 sizes , me I am still in 5x clothes but they are hanging , these days , but I like that not tight at all , and my bras I had to tighten up , cause they are getting to loose .1 -

I"m 5' 8 1/2" (I just could get that other 1/2 inch lol ) That puts me right between the average and tall sizes in women's pants - average is really just a little too short but tall are just a little too long! I can hem my own pants, but it's a pain lol
One thing I love about men's pants is that they are usually high waisted - I HATE this trend of low rise to mid rise women's pants! However, the thing about men's pants that drive me crazy is that they don't have butts! Seriously - I have to buy 3 to 4 sizes too big to get enough room in the hips and seat to be comfortable, but then, of course, a belt is a must. When I do buy men's past, 28 to 30 inch inseem works best for me.3 -
@tammyfranks2 same boat here - I'm also 6'1. All button up shirts have to be worn with the sleeves rolled up! I can't do men's jeans bc my weight is held largely in my hips and legs...no way would those hips go in a man-cut jean!
I did wear a pair of jeans yesterday that have always been loose and are a 28 (though some 28s are still tight) but yesterday, I was making sure to never have someone behind me going up the stairs bc I was having to hold them up! Hooray for retiring a pair of jeans.2 -
Ha @bmeadows380 couldn't agree more... I was composing my reply when you posted yours! Agree on the waist thing too... Definitely prefer my roll to be tucked under the jeans, not blub over the top of the waist!1
-
It’s funny, I used to ALWAYS wear my pants right at my belly button because they would not go up higher. I’m sure if I were honest with myself I was more like a size 30 at my biggest. Now, I won’t wear pants unless they are up on my waist! One benefit is no more pants dragging on the ground.1

NSV for today. I was using one of the seated weight machines at my gym this morning. It was right in front a mirror, something I’ve always avoided if possible. Well, this morning I happened to catch a glimpse in the mirror and I almost didn’t recognize myself. I’m am so much less wide(?) than I was this time last year. Obviously I still weigh 340 lbs so I’m not thin... but I don’t feel disgusted or embarrassed when I see myself in the mirror anymore.7

I bought a bathroom scale today LOL never in 51 years have I owned a scale . that is a major thing for me really it is , like if i have one I have to stay on my diet . How can I justify a 45 dollar purchase if I don't stay on my diet LOL damn the way our minds work sucks .5
-
NSV for me today, I walked to the little local shop and back again. Admittedly made daughter and dog come too, but I did it and it wasn’t too hard either. Coming back with 4 litres of fizzy water made it a bit harder than it should have been but I did it! I may even try taking the dogs out for a little walk tomorrow! Got to do something until my treadmill arrives on Saturday!
Great to see everyone’s victories, it’s really inspiring!5 -
@cassie9393 and @tammyfranks2 I’m so jealous, I’d love to be 6ft tall! I’m a midget at 5'4” and the smallest in my whole family! Though I can imagine the clothes thing is a bit of a nightmare. Even I buy long length jeans because I like them to reach the ground even if I have my little 2” heels on so I can’t imagine how you do that! I have the opposite problem though, most stores don’t do fat sizes in petite heights so I’m a bit like a beach ball!0
-
@fatoldladyonamission ... I buy my clothes from women within an on-line women's company They have petite sizes in almost everything , and Tall sizes and average sizes . i only buy from them because they go to a 6x in some things and always good pretty stuff.1

@bmeadows380 I'm with you on hating the low-waist trend! I can't wear men's pants though because it's just too hard to find some with the right amount of butt and hips. Oh well!
My NSV for today though is realizing just how many calories I was eating on an average day before! I forgot my water bottle at home today, so I went down to the coffeeshop to buy a bottled water. (So thirsty!) I noticed that they've started putting the calories on their pastries now and the muffins that I would get TWO of every morning for breakfast are almost 500 calories each! Then I would slather them in butter and get some chips and hummus too! That's close to 1500 calories just for breakfast!! I try to eat less than that in a single day now. It's crazy how fast that can add up without someone even realizing it. I mean I knew my breakfast wasn't good, but I didn't think it was 1500 calories bad! The muffins are so small!1 -
@rabidhamster87 yes! I used to get a sausage egg and cheese biscuit combo from McDonald’s with orange juice almost every morning! That is 920 calories! Then I’d hit up Taco Bell for a Grilled Stuffed Burrito Combo (grilled is healthy, right?) for 1370 calories. Not to mention probably 1000 calories at night.
I NEVER thought I really overate. But that’s 3290 calories and that doesn’t include snacks and other junk I’d eat throughout the day.5 -

I’d be looking up to you because I barely am 5’0. In my family, you’d be the tall one- all things in perspective, I guess!

My NSV for today is having hit my 10k steos for tofay with still a frw hours before bed. Of course it's down to the amazing treadmill but I'm happy because I like doing it so I know I'll keep going.
Actually enjoying the ache in my legs at the moment. Feels like an I am worthy moment! Now to get down enough to safely take that bath!3 -
NSV - went farther around my neighborhood today than ever before, mainly can't go far because it's hilly. Like, really hilly from my perspective which is growing up in a flat area. I was panting worse than my dog trying to reach the tops, but we survived. Then came home and cooked up a new recipe - vegetarian lentil and butternut squash chili. Y'all. Under 400 calories for a big bowl of this stuff. Bring on the weekend, baby!6
-
@cassie9393 that sounds yummy! Well done on getting out like that, you’re ahead of me, I’m too scared to walk out of the house on my own and my 13 year old daughter isn’t too keen on being seen with me at the moment. More a not with Mum thing than a weight thing though!2

I never realized just how much my work affected my exhaustion levels.....
My doctor and other folks have commented that I must feel loads better because of the amount of weight I've lost, but I'd tell them not really because in truth, I still feel exhausted most evenings and just run down, and sometimes I have a time getting myself moving of a morning.
However, I just experienced something amazing!
I'm down at my best friend's apartment this weekend because she was in the hospital. She got out yesterday, but I'm staying a couple extra days to keep an eye on her because with the job she has, she can't miss any more work and had to go right back this evening.
Anyway, she lives on the 3rd floor of her apartment building. Well, I went up and down those stairs yesterday morning to get her a change of clothes. Then I went up those stairs yesterday evening, when she came home. Then she wanted to do laundry, so I went down those stairs with her to the laundry area, then back up the stairs.
While in the hospital, she found out she's slid into being diabetic, and she was asking me all about calorie counting. She decided last night at 10:30 that we should go grocery shopping, so I took her. As I came back yesterday evening and was carrying groceries up those stairs, I suddenly noticed something different - I wasn't wheezing hardly at all! I went up those stairs, carrying those groceries, lickity split! I then met her coming up and carried what she had the rest of the way up! We then went down and got her luandry, and I carried one basket up the stairs, again without a hint of trouble and only the slightest winded, and I again met her halfway up and carried her basket the rest of the way.
This morning, I decided to go out for breakfast and walked to the restaurant which was a little under a mile away. On my way back, I got Elvis "I can't help falling in love with you" stuck in my head for some reason, and was absentmindedly singing it. I was 3/4's of the way up those stairs when I realized I was still singing that song - out loud, no less! - and was able to continue singing it as I reached her door and entered the apartment. I was only just a hint out of breath!
I about fell over in amazement when I realized this! I've always gotten winded going up stairs - they've always been a bear for me. I had never noticed that they had become less of a challenge until this weekend! I'm thrilled!
That must also mean that the reason I'm feeling exhausted all the time, which I just chalked up to my thyroid issues, isn't as much a physical thing as I thought, and now I'm really beginning to wonder if my stress and frustrations from work are affecting me way more than I thought.....5 -
@tammyfranks2 I LOVE Woman Within! I also buy my clothes there. I buy the tall clothes, when I can, as I'm 5'11".
I had a NSV last night. I live 1/2 mile from both Kryspy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts. All day and evening yesterday, I did well and stayed under my calorie goal. Then, after supper, I was strongly wanting a blueberry donut from Dunkin Donuts. To not go get a dozen, I just laid on the couch and stayed there. Yay! I was thinking about y'all in the group too, and I also thought about how I'd feel the next morning --if I went and got all those donuts and ate them. So, you all helped me through that!8 -
@bmeadows380 You are rockin' going up and down those stairs!!! You've improved so much. Keep up the great work.0
-
@fatoldladyonamission you'll make it when you're ready! One step at a time... and yes, pun intended!
@amy_kee way to go on avoiding the craving!
I am second guessing my exclamation points in this message but am leaving them anyway. Cheers!!!4 -
@bmeadows380 that’s fabulous! I can’t even think of doing three floors of stairs like that yet! Though for me I did manage to walk up the hill where a friend lives without having to stop for breath, which is a first for me!
It’s great when you get to notice the positive impact of the diet and exercise. I can’t wait to get my next boost!0 -
@bmeadows380 Nice job on conquering those stairs!! I've noticed I'm more exhausted in the evenings too, but I also think I'm actually doing more and walking more during the days. I'm always jumping up and finding other things to do because I know the steps are helping me get more exercise when before I probably would've waited until I had to get up. Maybe it's the same for you and you just don't realize that's why you're so exhausted!0
-
I JOGGED for 5, 1 minute intervals today! I saw other people who were bigger jogging and thought, “Why not?” So, I did it!! It was pretty slow (3.9 mph), BUT I jogged and I didn’t die!6
-
New NSV for me today! Had to go into our office today and usually when there’s no space in the car park I go into the nearest multi storey car park, which is mega expensive but I figure better than struggling to walk from the one that’s a good distance away and I’d have to walk up a very steep hill.
Well today I put my big girl brave pants on and parked in the distant car park, and you know what? It was actually an easy walk! Took me 10 minutes and would probably take a normal person about 5 but I did it and I wasn’t gasping even up the hill!
So very chuffed! Then came home and did an hour on my treadmill a bit faster than usual! Yay me lol6 -
that's wonderful news! I'm thrilled for you! Its things like that that really provide a lot of incentive to keep going!0
