I started yesterday. So far so good. I have been a serial dieter all my life with massive weight swings (lost 100 lbs. two different times and a handful of 50-75 lb losses). While many of those were great success in my life, for their to be this many weight losses their had to be accompanying weight gains. I am the biggest I have ever been. I graduate law school in 3 months, take the bar in 5 and would love to add a life change to the list of accomplishments this year. I am not entirely sure why I decided on Keto but I feel like its something I can do and get great results. Any advice, encouragement, or critiques are greatly appreciated.
33/m/330lbs (I will leave my height off because I feel bad enough with those stats...lets just say, I am no where tall enough to support that weight). Looking to drop to 180. Currently going with 2100 calories with a macro split of 70% fat 20% protein 10% carbs (right around 50 grams). Want to lose a total

Welcome! I'm no longer a "die-hard" but still eat </= 50 grams of carbs most days. I posted elsewhere that I have 1 foot firmly planted in (very) low carb and 1 firmly planted in CICO. My weight loss back in 2013-14 was via low carb with added exercise, I maintained a couple of years, still in maintenance trialed keto for reason other than weight management (2016) and have remained very low carb since.
It was my keto experience that was most effective for me in learning what I needed/should eat and could manage long term to maintain with reasonable easy. I was SHOCKED at how I no longer craved sweets (I had done some bingeing in 2015 in my struggle to maintain) and how I was no longer experiencing physical hunger while trying to maintain on my low" maintenance calories" as a 60+ year old female.
I wish you the best getting your weight off. You'll probably have some not-so-good-days. Just get back at it. That's my biggest tip. I firmly believe that weight loss is practice for long term maintenance. I've certainly learned that I need to keep paying attention. I could easily go back to my old eating habits. Don't lose your focus. Remember why you started. Remember today when you didn't want to post your height. It doesn't have to be that way. And good luck on the bar exam!3 -
Congrats on all of your successes! You must be very excited! You can do this too. Like kp said...be mindful. dont kill yourself if you "slip-up" so to speak, and just keep on keeping on. There is a ton of great material out there to help you with your journey. its not one size fits all, so tweak as you need to. pay attention to electrolytes. Best of luck to you...you got this1

Hi, if you want to please join the March Challenge on the Announcements, we weigh in weekly on a Sunday usually and for some of us that's an encouragement to stick with it! Congratulations on the almost finishing law school by the way! Also my son was about your weight and with Keto is down 160lbs so far. I think for him the trick was to understand he just can't eat carbs, he went off Keto at one point and gained back about 40lbs in just a few weeks so now he really knows they are not for him and he's found alternatives to the things he thought he couldn't do without like bread etc. Good luck on the Keto diet2

Welcome and congratulations! I've found Keto the easiest eating plan for weight loss I've ever done, mostly because of the loss of cravings and hunger that eventually happen. Graduating law school and especially studying for the bar can/will be stressful. Take that into consideration when stepping on the scale. Stick with it! There is a lot of support here in this Keto group.1

Two month update.
Down 40 lbs. 100 to go. Disappointed in my physical appearance still but will trust the process. Be back next month for another update!

@chinatowninchina Everything is going great! Graduate on 5/11. Starting bar prep next week. It’s going to be a bit hectic but health will remain priority. Healthier me will be a better test taker.5

I am a little late on the 3 month update. Studying for the bar is such a time and energy drain. Not to mention the stress. I took a week off of the gym but stayed eating Keto and stayed in ketosis. I’m at 61 pounds down and counting and feeling good.
