My question is, how do you know what ingredients are in foods from the My Fitness Pal database? Some items have the same name but the calories are different.

I struggle with this as well — most of the time I end up listing out all ingredients to ensure I’m getting it all tracked. Or if I’m eating out or a recipe, I double check on the restaurant’s website the nutrition information to confirm which one I select. I try to go with the certified one as much as possible to make sure the nutrition stats are there and not just calories

I end up putting in everything individually. If I am not sure i go with the larger calorie count. I use a lot of ingredients that we or local farmers grow so not always coming from a store and was driving myself crazy trying to figure out what the count was. By taking the larger number I figure if it is not right I am benefiting by not consuming as many calories.
