I’m here - struggling with a lot on the personal front. As everyone knows I have been dealing with a regain of about 20lbs over the last year or so. Decided to get the Inspire Diet 14 day box to get my head back on track and do some of what I was doing pre-op and help me get back on track. I don’t plan to use this forever but just to help me to get my head in the right place and untily life settles down a bit so I won’t be as tempted to make bad choices. going to my mom’s for a couple of days - she makes me nuts and I am dreading this. I can take her in very small doses (long story with that relationship) so just counting down till we get to head home, and then back to “normal”6
-
Good thing you only have to deal with her for a short time. All you can do is bite your tongue until you can head to your destress zone at home. Take care of yourself
Anything that helps getting on track is a good thing. I will have to google the inspire box.3 -
I am still struggling with menopause, hot flashes, and some regain. I was in the habit of going to the gym before work, but the night sweats are bad and I wake up at least 3-4 times a night, so waking up early has been soooo hard. I was being a real slacker about working out but this week I made the commitment to go to the gym after work if I don't go before. I really don't like the gym in the evening but I'm not making any more excuses. I am coming up on 5 years post op and I want to continue being healthy!4

HELLO all. I'm still good. Been battling a couple little nagging leg issues but nothing major. If I didn't run i probably wouldn't have even noticed.
Been sticking to New Year's resolution and not weighing. I'm probably a couple pounds heavier than six months ago but clothes still fit fine so I'm good.
My girlfriend and I started a podcast called BARIATRIC RUNNER. You can find it on iTunes. We have three episodes out. Needs a lot of work. If you get a chance to listen would love feedback.
We'll also be going to the Obesity Action Coalition "Your Weight Matters" convention in Denver next week. If you or anyone you know is going let's connect. Would love to meet some folks in person!3 -
I’m finishing up week 2 of 3 weeks of puréed foods, honestly I am just in survive this last week mode, after 5 weeks of drinking my food I want to eat something real, not junk food, just a piece of chicken or an egg that isn’t turned into the consistency of yogurt... I may not eat soup for a long time again after this last week.
I am now the weight that I was 9 years ago when I up and moved my kids from their small town life to city life!! It is very exciting for me to see my clothes be too baggy and to have to get rid of things!!! For once I love tossing my clothes out cause it means I get something smaller!!
Hope everyone is enjoying summer

@HLaR79 have you checked out Bariatric Eating, Bariatric Foodie and The World According to Eggface? They have some really good recipes for puréed foods and transitional foods for when you start eating more solid foods. Believe me, you will want to eat so slow - I ate too fast and had some bad dumping for a while because I had to learn to slow down. I made these Skinnytaste crock pot turkey meatballs too soon after surgery and got so sick. This is definitely the fun part of being a post op - buying awesome new clothes is so much fun!2

I did check them out and found a few more good tips and did expand my meal base3 -
Well, I am about 21 months from surgery. I am up 10 lbs from my lowest, but 2 lbs above my original goal weight. My huaband left me about 6 months ago so now that I am trying to figure out life again and I need to get a better handle of my emotional eating and get these pounds back off. I havent been eating things I shouldnt just eating too often and when I am not hungry. I need to do the 14 says Inspire. @jcavannah2 what do you think about it?

@jamielslater I am so sorry to hear that you are going through a tough time! I actually received my package the other day when we were out of town so I didn’t start yet. We are still away but I plan to start next Monday since this week is a bit hectic once we get back with a bunch of different appointments and getting back to work. I will post once I start. Looking forward to trying the Dutch chocolate shake and the banana nut bread shake. Early on, I used all Inspire shakes which were very good and not too thick. Excited to try the pancake mix and some of the BE recipes that use it including this taco pie thing. I need to sit down and plan the meals I prepare for lunch and dinner on the plan. I do a ton of meal prep on Sunday so that my week is set up and I stay on track as best as I can.2

I had my first post weight loss plastic surgery in May (lower body lift medial thigh lift, lipo, fat transfer) and had a lot of complications! Pneumonia, wound dehiscence, slow healing, and then a huge pulmonary embolism. I still have one opening that will take a while to close, but otherwise am finally making good progress. My eating got pretty lax while I was healing because it takes so many calories and I was losing way too much too fast. But now that I don’t need the calories, I need to fix my food. And I’m anxious to get back to exercising.4

I am 9 months out. I've lost over 100 pounds since I started this journey in May 2017. This was the first week I gained. Even though it is only 3 pounds and I know what caused it (vacation with not enough water, not enough sleep, little exercise and food that is not normally on my plan), it is eye opening how quickly it can come back on and that this is a life long change, not a quick fix. In a way, I'm glad this happened so that I can experience it and fix it.4

Firstly, I love how supportive you all are. @fit_chickx thanks for starting this thread.
At this point everything in my life feels out of control, except my eating. Reminds me of when I was 15, except I was about 10kg underweight and eating about 400cal a day then because I needed something stable! Despite all the stresses, I'm managing to have frequent meals, but some days i struggle as when I'm upset i lose my appetite, but it is an active choice to eat for sustenance.
I'm 2kg/4-5lb away from my goal weight and have had to buy new clothes which is something to celebrate.

I am preparing to start the 14 day Inspire Diet..have my white board written out with my meals, and tomorrow morning I plan to do some meal planning. Really hoping to get my head back where it needs to be - like what @buxombrunette said - everything in my life feels out of control but I can control my eating. My last session with my trainer is Monday and I am getting my Peloton next Saturday and I am
beyond excited for it! Once things settle down I may incorporate training back into my routine since one of the training managers at the gym is willing to train me outside of the gym and a friend found an awesome local trainer who is reasonable. I need to put some focus back on me and making how I feel and look a priority again.4 -

Congrats on over 100 down!
I was surprised how quickly I can gain weight. My weight loss is at a snail's pace..lol I miss the rapid weight loss days.3 -

Wow! so close to goal. Any plans to celebrate all your hard work?
Big hug! I'm sorry things are feeling out of control. Stress/emotions can mess with many of us. Some eat to soothe and others lose their appetite. The mental battles with weight loss can be frustrating. I hope what you are feeling passes soon.

How did it feel to meal prep?
You are taking all this by the cojones. Getting things back in line feels good, Right? Let us know how the peloton works out.
I'm excited for you.0 -

@fit_chickx it’s funny because I meal prep regularly but it’s usually only breakfast and lunch. Adding meal prep for dinner as well and having all 3 meals planned out so all we need to do is pop them in the oven feels very empowering - like there’s no reason why I should need to eat a half a slice or full slice of my daughter’s Pizza Hut (she has sensory processing and OT issues among other things so food is a big issue for her but she will eat pizza).
It also feels good to have my mindset back where it should be - I started a separate post about the Inspire Diet - after getting feedback from their FB group I can’t do their diet to a t - it’s way too restrictive and I wouldn’t be able to sustain it. No cheese (in fact really no dairy except milk, ideally skim milk) and no fruit - just non starch vegetables and I am not a big veggie person at all. I am going to focus on meal prep and loosely follow their guidelines. I threw a half a banana in one of their shake mixes for breakfast this morning and that’s the only fruit I am having today and my meals do have cheese in them but they are all portioned out and they all happen to be recipes from their site1 -
Emotionally and mentally I'm definitely struggling. I'm a binge eater - and secret eater. I've made an appointment w/my therapist and my general to go over some stuff...
I'm up around 5lbs from my lowest (originally around 12). The only reason I haven't gained more is because the one thing I haven't stopped is working out. We will see how things go - I'm just hanging on right now.3 -

@jcavanna2
This is just getting back on track. You are off to a great start. Hopefully you can progress to a food plan that will be sustainable long term.
I have to eat every two/three hours...about six meals. How does it work with the inspire diet? How is your hunger level?0 -

Glad to hear you are going to therapy. I hope you find a healthy balance with food, stress and emotions.
Most of us have disordered relationships with food pre surgery. It does not disappear after surgery. The mental battles are work. Its all part of the process.
We are all a work in progress.3 -
@fit_chickx I did okay for most of the day but wound up getting really hungry. Drank more water to try and offset it but not much luck there but was generally on track..had to tweak what I ate towards the end of the day. My shake before bed came out on frozen clumps, and their Dutch Chocolate Cake isn’t very chocolate-y.
I can’t follow the Inspire Diet to a t...it’s way too restrictive. I meal prepped every meal and cooked my dinners that I prepped Sunday to make sure they don’t go bad and all I need to do is Re-heat them when we get home from work.
I bought strawberries which is off limit on this diet but what I did do is I took half a cup and put them with 2.5 oz of low sodium turkey which will be a mid morning snack. Going to have a protein shake on my hour commute to work and an hour or so after getting there I bought a pack of 2 pre-hard boiled eggs.
I definitely have my days planned well, and I definitely think a lot of it has to do with my prepping of all meals instead of just breakfast or lunch. I also am bringing my travel blender to work to have a shake as a snack vs some less healthy options.2 -
Happy Tuesday. I am pleased that I had the opportunity to let my eating be wildly out of hand over Sunday & Monday because I was at the Mall of America both days for a convention. What ended up happening is that I was so afraid to eat really bad stuff and gain 4-5 lbs, I ended up not eating enough-- and being up 1 lb. I'm sure now that I'm exercising again (having the weekend off) I will go back down but I won't lie, I wish it were easier.1

Thank you for the support. I havent checked back in lately amd thought I should let you know that I did get my 28 day Inspire packet and I really do not like the shakes. Everuthing else was fine. I am stuck on premier protein shakes and Fit Frappes by Big train.0 -
Which shake flavors did you get? The banana nut bread is good if you add half a banana (but fruit is restricted from the Inspire Diet). The Cafe Bella is my favorite but think once my stuff is gone from
BE that I will stick to other brands (Eat The Bear, Chike, Chocorite).
Have heard of Fit Frappe but I can’t find it here. Where do you find it?
I have loosely followed the Inspire Diet this week. Did have a couple of instances where I had made not great choices but mostly have made good ones. My Peloton comes tomorrow so looking forward to incorporating that. I will say what has been the most beneficial for me this week is planning every meal including dinner and mostly having it all ready just needing to heat it.
Before I just planned my breakfast and lunch and grabbed whatever for snacks - not always the best choices (single serve packs of Oreo thins) but this week I mostly have had shakes as a snack, or 2-3 oz of turkey and 1/2 c strawberries.
I definitely found when I ate more planned out snacks and meals, with smarter choices that o got fuller where before I could chow on several packs of Oreo thins and not get full.
Having a better planned week like this has definitely helped me with perspective even though o wasn’t following the Inspire Diet exactly.0 -
For the first time in quite a while I had a good week across the board, with both my eating and my exercise. This is just what I needed to get the momentum to and motivation to stick with the plan.3

I ordet Fit Frappe from netrition.com.
For the Inspire Shakes I had ordered the chocolate cake, cheesecake, cafe bella, and I can't remeber what else but I really didnt care for any of them.
I have decided to stick with what I like. Fit frapes maynot have the greatest stats but I cam blend it with ice and they dont get frothy. I cant handle froth at all. I love premier protein. I can heat them or put them over ice.
My choices havent been bad but I can not seem to get past the emotional eating.
I do appriciate the friends I have made on here. The support amd reading other posts really helps.1 -
I've been working on maintenance (and absent from MFP world). I apologize! I've been for the last month now, maintaining between 140 &145. which makes me happy. My first goal of maintaining was 160, kept loosing, then I was like, okay, maybe 150? Nope. Saw my surgeon and bariatric nut and exercise psychologist in May, and the nut said, if I keep losing, I should come back sooner for trouble-shooting.
I've also found, so many others around me are salty AF. My sis-in-law being one. She actually told me "you dont understand what I'm going thru, you dont have a weight problem"... wha?? two years ago... 313... Yeah, I understand. I also know you are eating more than you say you are, i've watched you eat... and your food choices suck. She also told me I look old now... i have 'wrinkles'... dude, I just unfilled my face with fat. let me be!
I'm happy where I am, I dont see myself as being as small as I actually am. (I can wear a size 1-2 from Maurice's, and extra small/small tops.) Maybe one day my brain will catch up?
sorry for the long-winded ness.
2 -
Glad you checked in. Congratulations on goal and maintaining.
Relationships may change a bit with weight loss. People see your success and it reminds them of their own struggles. Ignore their comments. You are healthy and happy.
It takes time for your mind to catch up with your weight loss. Try placing a photo on your bathroom mirror. Look at it while you are getting ready for the day.
2 -
That is a great idea @fit_chickx !! I think I'll do that. Maybe my mind will catch up faster!2
