Opening up a bit here! I would love a few LC buddies!

I have pretty much kept my food diary etc private. Ive decided I need to change that. I would love a few LC buddies! I think some interaction with others would be a big support. I believe what ever works for one is great but I am the only person I know whom does low carb.
My goal is progress not perfection. I do use some LC products and will not always hit my goals but I will be doing my best!

Would you be willing to provide more info about yourself on your profile? Just asking because it helps if your possible friends have things in common with you other than just LC. ie, there's a group of us low carb ladies over 50 who have unique 'issues' that have become friends/post on a separate thread as well. I understand that privacy can be an issue so just a suggestion. If you aren't sure what I mean, take a look at my profile (public) it gives some info but not too specific as to location.
Cheers!0 -
Hi there and welcome. I admit I keep mine private. But I to tend to blab stuff anyway. For example I noticed you state LC for low carb. So whenever I see that I am like so does that mean super low carb like almost in the KETO zone? Not there is anything wrong with KETO I am not implying that at all, I just know from reading posts that is super low.
I will give me for an example I try and most of the time stay within my Carbs which are 45-50 per day. I attempt Monday through Friday to come in around 42 or so, so that on weekends I can have a bit more. Meaning I look at it a bit as the week as a whole. So for me I am carbs 45-50, fat the same right at 50, and Protein at 80. When I exercise I will not use more than 25% tops of those added carbs, fats, proteins up. Mostly because I think the amounts that MFP comes up is insanely high, so I only use a wee bit up. I am 60, and started this lifetime journey back in May 2018. And am down a bit more than 70 pounds, and intend to lose another 60 or so.1 -
Thanks for your reply Maureen! I am shooting for macro percentages at this point. At least 70 percent fat minimum and 5 percent carbs ( net carbs) and protein to round it out. So primarily low carb high fat moderate protein. I'm not sure if that puts me closer to keto or not to be honest.
I dont really look at the calorie part but will if needed. I've got a very active job.
Congratulations on your loss!!! What your doing obviously works very well for you! I love how you call it a lifetime journey. That is the way I need to look at it.2 -

I will have to try to see your profile again when I'm not on mobile to see what you mean. All I see is that it is private. I appreciate your advice.0 -
Canadjineh now that I'm not on a phone I can see your profle clearly and that it is not private. The difference on mobile and the computer is huge. So I see what you mean. In all honesty for now I'm good with the amount of info on my profile until I get to know people/things a bit better. It was a big step already4

Yep, I get that totally. My carb levels depend on what I'm working on at the moment... Up a couple lbs? LC down to under 50g net til weight is back where I want it. Maintenance anywhere from 50-115g or so - depends on what I'm hungry for that day, but those carbs are 'healthier' ones like a bit of brown rice, or beans/lentils, fruit. Every once in a while I like potato chips/corn tortillas for a junk fix, but that is usually asking for trouble, lol.
I only really watch my carbs gram level, and make sure I get enough protein. I don't do actual macros anymore, but I'm not usually far off goal now anyhow as I've been in maintenance for a while.1 -

Sounds like you definately know what works well for you!!!
I'm sure I will have to change and tweak as I lose a bit. I'm very ok with slow loss as long as I'm not hungry.0 -
Mmmhmm, it's all an n=1.... You tweak to find out what works for your body. Some people can maintain fine at 150g net, others need to stay under 50 or even under 20 to feel their best. You'll get it figured out The trick is to tweak only 1 thing at a time so you can pinpoint exactly what is working (or not), and to give your tweak a long enough chance to work.2

Good point! Right now all I'm looking at is 70 plus percentage fat and 5 percent or less net carbs. As long as it's isn't broke I would mess with it3

Hi All
I have an open diary - I’ve lost 42 lbs on keto/low carb - I have another 10/12 to go. I stick to 30 net carbs a day. I’m always looking for friends who are active on here! Good luck!2 -
Thanks. I sent you a request.1
