New to the challenge and looking forward to it! My story is maybe like a lot of others - using MFP I successfully got down to my goal weight through daily accountability for exercise and logging, but through sheer lack of mindfulness have regained most of it back over the past two years. I am generally pretty active (running/swimming/gym/hiking) type person, but have to admit I find excuses not to get out there on cold winter days! Hoping this will be the motivation I need to get back on track. Thanks @RangerRickL for the challenge!3

Looking forward to the accountability challenge. I have been part of this group in the past and found it very helpful and supportive. last year, I was able to get very close to goal weight, but have gained some back over the holidays and haven’t been tracking my food, so I am here for a fresh start. I am 38 years old, mom to 4 kids 8 years old and under, and do my best to exercise when the two younger ones are napping (strength training and yoga mostly), and we take walks when the weather agrees. I also teach a few yoga classes. Thanks for leading this great group @RangerRickL2

I'm excited for a tough challenge. This will be my first time- hopefully it will give me the boost I've needed to lose 5 lbs for my goal. It's been elusive to me for months!5

Hello again,
I've done this challenge in the past but not for the last 2-3 months. I can't wait to start again!

Hi everyone! This is EXACTLY the type of challenge I need right now.
I am a Weight Watchers Lifetime member who is about 10 lbs above her goal weight right now. I ended up leaving WW last month as it was no longer working for me -- I'm a runner and workout twice most days (strength training in the am and running/cardio in the pm), so it wasn't allowing me to get enough food aka energy. I'm now working with a sports nutritionist and she suggested I use MFP to track my food intake.
This will be great for me as I need accountability and I need to be rigid with it. I look forward to getting to know you all and helping with motivation!3 -
2018 was a good year, I lost 13 lbs and worked with a trainer all year to lose fat and gain strength. The gym is now a habit, but I need to lose 20 more lbs and I know diet is my issue. I tend to track for a few days then stop because I eat something I don’t want to track...hopefully this challenge will hold me accountable. I stopped eating fast food and don’t drink soda, and have started eating healthier, but cookies, ice cream and candy are my weakness. And carbs. I’m working on trying to mostly eat produce and lean protein but it’s tough. Hopefully this challenge helps keep me accountable and I finally drop the last 20 lbs in 2019.5

Hey All,
I'm a petite-framed, normally athletic person and mom of three girls, and I almost constantly carry 7-10 lbs more than I'd like. I'm heavier than I've been in a long time, and I think that's mostly because I am not disciplined in my diet or my sleep habits. I allow splurges all the time (sweets, alcohol, fast food) with a million different justifications, and it has caught up with me. It's time to get after it. I'm going to exercise more intentionally and finally experiment with some self-discipline. I also need to start getting up earlier so that I can get exercise in before my kids wake up, so changing my sleep habits will be important. I'll need your help!5 -
Hi All, Thanks @RangerRickL for running this.
I am early 40s, pescatarian, my main form of exercise is walking. I plan to add some weight lifting in January.
I'll need extra motivation since I'll start a new job on 2 Jan, going from self-employed to corporate. I hope UAC will encourage me to maintain good habits.
I have lost 20 lbs so far this year, and hope to reach Onederland at end of January. But the journey is still very long (70/80 lbs to lose still).3 -
Hi challengers, UAC has become a way of life for me, it has got me fitter and healthier than i have ever been in my 55 years, i have made it to the winners circle on a few occasions and when I haven't I know I only have myself to blame, welcome old and new!5

Hi sorry. Starting the 1st. I will be away in a hotel with my family so will need to do my exercise there first thing. We are then eating out. I have already scanned the menu for a salad. But must start as I mean to go on.
Good luck all.

Hello! January will be my 11th month with UAC. I consider myself very active and health concious, even have tracked for years on MFP. But it wasn't until I joined UAC that I was really able to pinpoint bad habits and form healthy ones. Thanks to the daily habits from this group, I was able to finally get the scale moving again
I don't expect to make the winner's circle for January:
- I'm recovering from a knee surgery, and have been told not to exercise for 4-6 weeks. I hope I can walk within the next week at least!
- At the end of January, (if recovery allows) I will be offline for a cruise so I can't track (attending with cruise staff, so I'll be hard at work, not gorging on food lol)
Letting the group know so I don't appear MIA or flaky. I'm joining regardless, because it's become a staple in my daily life that keeps me on track. I'll be setting other goals for myself and will do all I can. Looking forward to getting well and healthier in 2019!9 -
Hi , this is my first time doing this challenge. I am in need of motivation and accountability with maintaining a daily exercise program and staying within my caloric limit! A new year awaits!5

I'm Bonnie and joined MFP 11/30/18. I am new to this challenge. Excited to be here and looking forward to being lighter and healthier on 1/31/19!! Nice to meet you all!6

Hi All, this is my first challenge. I hope this will help me become accountable to myself. Something has to change!5

I'm ready for this challenge!
I lost 90lbs and maintained it for 2 years, only to lose my healthy lifestyle grove to a stressful job. I gained 30lbs back and was completely out of shape. I'm back and ready to get my life back, Im 5 lbs down and loking to lose 25lbs more. Let's go!8 -
I All, this will be my third month joining the UAC. During November (my first attempt), I left the challenge and went off track when family came to visit. During December I was successful; kept up with the challenge even when family came to visit again. I would like to stick with it again for January. I am a busy mom of four; 5-7 pounds from my goal weight. Happy new year to everyone; looking forward to seeing you in the group this month.5

Hello!
My name is Kelly, and I'm in my 30s with 2 kids. We're pretty active in the summer, but these cold months just don't have the same activity level. I really struggle in the winter, so a little extra kick in the pants is required.
This is my first UAC, I'm hoping that this helps me stay on track and build up some healthy habits that I have lost. And hopefully I'll get those a little sooner than spring!

I just joined MyFitnessPal yesterday, and I am still learning how to move around the site. I saw the link for this in one of the message board posts and knew that I needed to join. So thankful for finding this group! I am looking forward to learning how this works, as well as learning how MyFitnessPal works, and getting to know everyone in the group!8

Hello everyone!
My name is John and I'm back after a long time away. This is my third UAC, but my previous two were July and August of 2017. During those months, I ended up getting myself down to the lowest weight I've been in my adult life, but I still wasn't where I wanted to be in terms of fitness, so I shifted gears a little bit.
In 2018, I ran some personal record race times, a 43:44 10K in June and a 20:24 5K in November. Last month, I had my remaining wisdom teeth pulled and have just now gotten back to training. My fitness dropped remarkably in that short time off (as measured by the running pace at which I reach a threshold heart rate).
I'm happy with my weight, so my calorie goal is set to maintenance. What I need the most is consistency in logging and that's what brings me back to the group.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and rewarding 2019!6
