Some of you have been with this challenge for months and some are brand new. This is one of the hardest challenges to stay with throughout the entire month. FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!! Log every BLT (Bite, Lick, Taste). Stay strong and true to yourself....YOU WILL SUCCEED!!
Please feel free to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with the rest of the group. I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better. GOOD LUCK!

Hi there! My name is Danielle. I'm just recently back to MFP after a year long hiatus. I made it to the winners circle one time, November 2016, and it was my highest weightloss month!
I'm 28 years old, I have about 80 pounds to lose (thanks anti-anxiety meds) and would love to get some off before I go to Europe in June.
I work in a job that requires me to be on my feet all day and that "allows" me to be lazy.
I joined a gym this year, because it has a pool, and I'm excited to swim more as it has always been a fun activity for me.
I am excited to start this challenge and look forward to meeting all of you!8 -
Hi I am Cari, I am 44yrs old and since I quit working fulltime as a nurse and joined the fire dept I have gained about 40lbs... due to all our cooking and sitting in our recliners watching TV waiting for the calls to drop. Despite having a gym in the station I find myself without motivation or accountability to get up and go in there.
Time to finally do something about this: I have started Keto, got a Fitbit, a puppy and hoping joining challenges will keep me accountable and motivated.
Look forward to meeting you all and getting this challenge started.7 -
I am new to this group and am looking forward to this challenge! I really need it!5

Hello there, been here for a few months must be 6 or 7 now. I'm a triathlete maintaining weight into racing season, my aim for this year is to make it to the winners circle every month. BIG challenge!
Best of luck to everyone!4 -
Hi, I am afraid I may have joined a group above my level...…….I am 57, 5' 3", 202 lbs. I have yo-yo dieted for a good 15/20 years. Last time I had success was about 7 years ago. I was down to 149. It was a gradual climb...but I did climb back up the scale to higher numbers despite my many attempts at Jenny Craig. I did Weight Watchers several times prior to all that. I've read all the articles, books, blogs, my point is, it's not the knowledge but will power I am lacking. I am now at the point of just walking across a parking lot has me out of breath. So embarrassed. I want to be healthy into my retirement and live longer. I am at that pass of A Change MUST happen. When I saw this group, I thought this would be good for me. I do need that accountability. Please let me know if you think this group may be more then I need right now. Thank you, Teri.8

Hi Teri you and I are at about the same starting point. I am 5'1" 194.4lbs. On Jan 1st I was at 202lbs and thru Keto alone I have dropped the 7lbs but I need to do more to get healthy, I need to exercise.
I don't think this group is more than you need right now I think it is exactly what you and I both need right now. ~Cari

I think this group is for anyone, really anyone. I failed massively the first few months, I considered to stop posting (who bothers anyways) but it somehow bugged me in the depth of my mind so I kept at it.
Expect to fail. Will power is not a magical thing that you are born with or without, it's something you grow a bit every day and failing too. Because failing should make you mad enough with yourself to make you more accountable in future.3 -
@teriseaton
Have no fear! This group is wonderful. I joined for the first time in January. The only thing it requires is checking in everyday. It really helps to develop a healthy lifestyle.5 -

This group is definitely for everyone! No judgment, no pressure, no fear. Glad you're here!!1 -

This is EXACTLY the group you need, in my opinion. It is all about building the habits for long-term success. It is a very supportive group with many folks who are just starting out to several who have been in maintenance for a long time. Getting to the "winner's circle" is really nice, but everyone who finishes the month (in or out of the winner's circle) is celebrated.
Trust the process!!!5 -
I'm back!! This will be month 5 for me in the UAC. I am 1.7 pounds from goal (but who's counting?! ) I am hoping to get to goal by the end of Jan, but I'll stay here as I learn how to live in maintenance mode.
Which brings me to a really important point for newbies. There is a lot of learning that goes on early in this process. Expect it to be a bit of a rocky road as you figure out what works for you. Even if you should reach your 3 pass days early in the month, keep tracking, exercising and reporting in. Being out of the winner's circle does NOT mean you are out of the group. This is a lifestyle change, not a race to a number on the scale. It will be a "challenge", but ever so worth it.
Trust the ptocess!5 -
Hi I am Kay. I am 31 years old female, I currently weigh 95 kgs and my goal weight is 58 kgs. I think 2019 is my year. So I really look forward to this challenge and the wonderful company of all you people.4

February will be my 15th month of participating in the UAC challenge with the goal being to live a healthy life. Monitoring calories, logging, and exercise are the key components of this challenge, yielding success when coupled with individual determination to stay on track. UAC is my inspiration for continued diligence. Welcome to all the new team members who are joining UAC for the first time in February, and to the "virtual friends" with whom I have become acquainted in the last several months. Thank you for being my cheerleaders on this journey. We are better together!
@teriseaton and @911Nrs You are definitely in the right place. UAC has a fantastic group leader @RangerRickL who opens daily discussion with a motivating start to your day. Every member of UAC is cheering for your success. We don't all have successful days...but the goal is to learn from the bad days so the good days outnumber the bad. Several of us are in maintenance range having completed the same weight loss journey you are undertaking. Others still persist with their goals one successful day at a time. Sometimes we fall down, which is OK as long as we get back up, again. The most important lesson to learn is good nutrition is not a diet, but rather a lifestyle change....so rather than having a "takeaway" from having participated in this group or accomplishing a weight loss goal, we encourage you to stick with this group. We're here for you, and hope you will be our cheerleaders, too!8 -
@w8goal4life Oh I like the way that sounds!!! Thank you so much for welcoming me and encouraging me to stick with you guys. I'm in!!4

Back for my fourth month. All Christmas baggage discarded, and working on improving my fitness and health. My smart scale app tells me that I should reach my target weight two weeks before my birthday in April. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful birthday present.
This is a good place for anyone to start the practicing of new habits, in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere8 -
@jan110144 Great advise!! Thank you very much. I feel much better now about my participation in this challenge group. I may still be a bit nervous, "can I do this", but I'm in. Thanks!4
-
OK, so, I've done more reading and figuring out how this posting works...sort of lol. I have read so many messages from you. I'm very excited now. Think I've found just the place I need to be. Let's get started.5
-
Back for my second month! January UAC has helped me already lose almost 5 lbs, putting me 3 lbs from my WW "Lifetime" goal weight and 10 lbs from my personal goal weight. I'm looking forward to continuing this great momentum I have going right now.5
-
Hey there. I'm Basilia, 41, 206 lbs, trying to lose ~70 lbs. The number is overwhelming so I am taking it in 9 lbs increments (even 10 is too much, Lol)
Taking it one day at a time and trying to learn good habits. This griuoyhas been great for that. The daily exercise has been a challenge in January and a couple of days have been hard to stay within calories. I'll stick around for another month.8 -
@bsbaz2018 I also am 70 pounds overweight if I was to look at what the charts say, and where I really should be. I hope to get back to that, but I am taking it slow, one day/step at a time. I have learned I have to set myself shorter/smaller goals or it does become discouraging. Glad you're back for another month. This will be my first...…...this go-round I have been strong for 3 days, but fearful of when that day comes something detours me away and I stray. When that day comes I am looking forward to this group lifting me up.4
-
@teriseaton I am learning that it's not about the exceptional days. It's about what you do regularly.
I have had some days when I didn't feel like exercising or I felt like eating more than MFP set calories. But you'll also see a lot of people planning some days when they'll eat more or not exercise or not track.
This group allows encourages 3 pass days or less. So basically, if you are doing well 90% of the time it's more than good enough.4 -
This is my third (AND FINAL) time using MFP to lose weight (have lost two other times, and then went back to bad habits and gained it all back). This will be my first time doing the UAC and I'm really excited for it!
I have about 60lbs to lose - I turn 40 at the end of July, and I want to have good, permanent habits in place before then. Yes, I want and intend to lose weight, but what I'm really trying to do is dig deep and figure out what keeps me from making real changes to my health and well-being. This challenge seems like a great tool to help me keep making good daily choices, stick to my plans, and keep on track!6 -
@hkfleming I am so glad you are here. I have also benefited from MFP and even Sparkpeople in the past. But again find myself more then 50 pounds overweight. Like you, this is going to be my last time being overweight. I am determined to get healthy and keep it that way. I could use your help along the way.0
-
@MsBaz2018 good to know...…..and what a relief. When I read the post like yours it gives me so much hope that I am going to be successful this time.0
-
Hi folks! I've been on MFP since 2013. Lost the weight. Started lifting and working out.
Then I had a baby in 2016. Now I'm back to losing again.4 -
Hi everyone, I'm so glad to have found this group! I used MFP a few years ago but not the community, which I think/hope will really help my motivation.
I'm 35, 5'5" and looking to lose 33lb. This is my first time seriously attempting to lose weight - I've never been super fit or super skinny but I've always managed to kind of keep within an acceptable BMI until a combination of a long period of illness and, I suspect, age (so easy to put on weight in your thirties...) had me gaining weight significantly over the past year or so.
Anyway, looking forward to sharing support and accountability in February5 -
Hey peeps. I am joining for the first time, hoping that this helps me with my daily workout. Food and calories I don't have a problem with, it is the daily excersice I can't seem to get on board with becuase I work nights and can't seem to get myself moving fast enough in the morning to have time to workout. Here's to a new month, new dedications!6
-
Hi there, been at this since July 2018. Thanks to Bonnie for introducing me to this challenge and thanks to Ranger Rick for organizing. I am down 40 lbs and have 40 more to go. Sounds like this challenge and the support will help me get there. Good luck to everyone. Happy logging!6

Hi everyone! I have been been working on weighloss again on MFP since November. I am trying hard to stick with it. I don’t have problem with the exercise, but with calorie intake. My problems come with snacking. I have been working on healthy snacking and not overeating during meals! Tracking everything in MFP helps a lot but Any advice is welcome!5

Good morning, I have followed a low carb lifestyle for a few years - lost 70 lbs and then got stalled out. I have maintained fairly decently for two years but I really want to drop another 50 lbs. I am trying to be encouraged that I have kept off the weight... And I know my habits and carb counts have slid all over the place the last while. I hope this will help keep me on track!6
