@teriseaton Go Chiefs!! I am in Missouri. Hi neighbor : )
It is nice to see people joining the group : )1 -
I had an interesting (and welcome) surprise on the scale this morning. I’ve drastically improved my diet/nutrition and logged it on LifeSum for the past month. I joined MFP two days ago. A week ago I reduced my daily cal down by 500kcal to 1630kcal. I strictly adhered to it and upped my water intake. I’ve been sedentary, and will begin my exercise program on Friday, but am getting steps in. My start weight was 237.8lbs. I’ve had surgeries, and been on bed rest the majority of the time during the past 3 years, and am completely deconditioned, severe muscle-wasting, edema It’s taken 6 months to rehab myself to be up and functioning to that of a “basic person” that is not fit.
This morning I got on the scale and weighed in at 233.2 after a long plateau. Wild 3.8lb “loss” since last night. I wonder how much water weight I will be dropping. I’m not sure if I should be proud of it but it was deeply satisfying to input my weight here this morning.5 -

Be proud! When I had unexpected losses I realized that some of it might be fluid. BUT that new number on the scale also affirmed what was possible. That, in addition to the loss, was very motivating for me.2 -
@strongscartlet so happy for you! It sounds like you are working hard and taking positive steps. Good job!2

We're three days away from our February Challenge. To those of you who have been a part of these challenges in the past...…...any advise? What exactly do we need to do? Just post our BITE, LICK, TASTE...…..a.k.a. all food intake for the day? Do we post it only to our diary, or here also? Thanks!0

Details are in the FAQ thread - but feel free to ask us too. That is what the "What's On Your Mind?" Thread is for as we move into the month.
The BITE, LICK, TASTE / DID info goes into your Food and Exercise Logs (if "exercise" for the day is the kind of thing that can't really be measured, like "dancing to the radio" or "serious decluttering / cleaning" then time spent can be entered in the Notes section of your Exercise log if you wish (so that you can look back at it later)
When done logging for the day, or looking back at yesterday's closed out info, come report in.
The 3 questions here are all "Yes / No" (3 Yes's = pass not required) based on your log(s) Details on Type of 20 or more minutes exercise are optional, but can be fun and inspiring for others to read.

Hello everyone! I was on a roll with this challenge over a year ago, but fell out of practice of MFP. But I am back! I love this challenge
I live in the Dallas area with my husband and 3 year old son. I am looking to lose some weight and reach some challenging fitness goals this year, and I believe this will help keep me on track!
Looking forward to receiving and giving some motivation with the group! It truly is a challenge that anyone can do, you just gotta stay focused and make it a habit! GL to you all!5 -
Hi. I’m Jessica. This is the first time I’ve joined a group or a challenge. I lost around 40lbs last year and working to lose another 40 this year. I’m really motivated to continue to losing weight and learning to live a healthier lifestyle.6

Also posted on the Jan 30 reporting thread, but for those of you who are new to UAC for February ....
For the parts of the continent where this weather is NOT typical, so you don't have the outdoor clothes 'cause you just never had to deal with this kind of situation long term on a regular, yearly basis ...... EXTREME COLD CAN KILL IN MINUTES IF YOU ARE NOT DRESSED FOR IT!
Stay safe! Stay Warm!
I have lived in "Cold Country" all my life - it takes ~ 5 minutes from " decide it's time to leave" to gearing up, to going through the door ..... and THEN have to start car, scrape or brush car windows, maybe clear sufficient snow or plow leaving to get out of driveway ..... and THEN start longer-slower than normal commute.
We've had some snow this month too
BTW, those are Adults on the road ....
Explore indoor possibilities for now ....
If you are desperate for the illusion of The Big Outdoors - search Youtube for "treadmill workouts" "elliptical workouts" and / or "virtual trails / tours". You get a first-person view of "the trail / road" unwinding before you as you jog in front of the tv (if you have indoor cardio equipment where you can see the tv, or can call it up on a tablet you can put on the magazine rack, so much the better!) They can be anywhere from under 15 minutes to over an hour. (Or there is the 6 - part "real time down the Grand Canyon" set ...
Explore places you've been "for real" in the past, or check out places you have always wanted to see.7 -
Hi everyone! My name is Leanna. I cannot wait to start this challenge. I really need to start holding myself accountable for my calories and daily exercise (or lack thereof). I started the Just Give Me 10 Days challenge this month, and it's already helping me realize a lot about myself. I feel embarrassed every time I have to post an increase in weight. That just makes me want to do better, so I know that this challenge will motivate me even more especially since it includes the exercise aspect.7

Hi all!
My name is Abby and this is my first timing doing this challenge! I've been on and off MFP for years now, and am hoping this will help me actually stick to it. I'm hoping to lose 30 lbs this year and then hopefully maintain. Good luck everyone!8 -
Hi everyone! My name is Nadia, I am a mom of two kids 7 and 4. I am 5'4" and 137 currently. Want to achieve 125! Hoping this group will be enough motivation to stay active and healthy this winter. Love and hugs to all!7

@ faithfuleefit Thank you for posting about being embarrassed about posting a gain in weight. That is one of my biggest struggles and downfalls. I feel ashamed, so unsuccessful and then hopeless. Appreciate your honesty to help me see my problems and learn to deal with them.

@teriseaton The more that I post the easier it becomes. Everyone in the MFP community has been so kind. Posting helps me to understand my body and habits better. I've noticed that on the days that I do especially well or on the ones where I fall short, I don't see the results until another day has passed...and I always know exactly what caused me to gain or lose. Don't feel bad about posting. We understand that every day won't be amazing. If you're doing everything you set out to do during the day but don't see the results...keep going. You will see them eventually. If you slip up on any given day, don't stress about it. Just make sure that you get back on track the next day. Success isn't something that happens over night. You'll have to keep working at it. Don't worry. You can do this!!3

Thank you!! I get disappointed in myself I appreciate your help to overcome that. I will have faith2

I have never done a challenge, I hope to succeed. I am doing IF and intuitively eating. I am the worst to mindless and emotionally eat and am trying hard to stop it. Weighing multiple times a day helps me stay accountable, I understand weight fluctuates due to food, water, activity, sodium, etc. When I only weighed once a week I would get unmotivated because I might have a high weight due to high sodium and feel no progress. So I plan on adding in my check-in's the highest and lowest weight I observe on the scale that day. I do not add a new low to MFP tracker until I see it at least 2 days. I would love to lose 10 lbs this month.6

@mommy_hood Good luck!! Let's stay focused on this2

I'm back again. January fell apart pretty quickly with kitchen renos and other things but I am ready to get back to consistency.3

Just an alert to those who are new to this challenge. Posting weight is not a criteria for success with UAC. Some do post weight as progress is made. Others never post weight. I am in the latter group who never posts weight. You need share only as much as you are comfortable with in the daily thread. There is no shame on the UAC forum. Every team member's intent should be to encourage others to develop healthy habits including exercise, calorie consumption and tracking or logging everything consumed. Any weight loss is a by-product of those healthy habits. Weight loss is not a matter of luck. Diligence and perseverance always wins!8
