Public Health Collaboration's list of randomized controlled trials testing low carb against low fat. They have a low carb agenda, but guess which diet typically performs the best. ;) there is a chance they have left out a bunch of more successful low fat RCTs (50+ ??) but I doubt it.

It isn't overly new, but it is a good list to present to naysayers who want to argue about how faddish, unhealthy, and no-more-successful-than-other-diets that they think the low carb diet is.

    And they consider low carb 130 g/day or less. Could you imagine if they cut the carbs down much, much further?

    Wow! The shift is starting! Finally, enough of the “old farts” are dying off and new blood is coming in and challenging the old low fat teachings!! I’m sure there will be some push back from the pharmaceutical companies on this since they have billions of dollars tied up in the business too. Hopefully the proof will be in the pudding!

    It's happening very quietly. Lol in canada, I believe that they removed the upper fat limit, but still talk about limiting the evil saturated fats. ;)

    Plus we has a new food guide which still pushes the quarter plate if "healthy whole grains" beside a picture that includes bread and pasta.

    Hopefully the recent EAT diet posted in the Lancet will die a horrible death soon. It is really grain heavy, and advocates for more sugar in a day than meat - I think it is 8g of added sugar vs the equivalent of 1.5 chicken nuggets a day. Lol

    Unfortunately, in Canada, they have removed meat and dairy as food groups and simply refer to "protein" with no regard to whether it is plant or animal even though the vast majority of plant protein is not complete.

    Yeah. I think they just copied My Plate but went more plant based so they could be more environmentally trendy. I just don't think changing our protein food sources to hopefully fix the environment or stay trendy is more sound than changing our agricultural practices. :(

    They pointed out that the Lancet report outlined who the diet is NOT appropriate for, and it's basically everyone except healthy young-to-middle-aged adults. :D
