Too many people lose heart because their ultimate goal seems too far away and thus is unattainable. But, we actually live in day-tight compartments. Do what needs to be done today for today...tomorrow, you can do it again.

Rick
I really appreciate this because I woke up thinking "I am going to fail today" We are going to a festival where everything is deep fried. If I eat everything I would normally I will gain at least 2-5 lbs, No doubt about it! I was a notorious overeater, and since finding this new lifestyle I have not waivered for more than one meal. This will be an all day affair and I'm just worried. How can I make better choices when there are none? My plan will be to check google look at everything I could possibly eat and pick the less of all the evils. But there is this thing called the Dutch Donut, basically fresh made donuts made to order with whatever toppings you want and they make a strawberry shortcake version....its ridiculous and should be outlawed! Wish me luck that I only try a bite of everyone else's food and that is how far I go.

@Kwinnero , Sounds like "an INTENTIONAL Pass Day" situation. This is exactly the reason why up to 3 are included in the "can still make the Winner's Circle" challenge rules.
So long as you make healthy choices 80 to 90 % of the time (and using only 3 passes while saying 3 x yes the rest of the time = 90% of a month) then your system can cope with processing decadent indulgences the other 10 - 20% of the time.
So do the planning and get as close to "3 x yes" as you can .... but don't sweat it if you go a bit over. As Rick commented below today's poster ... "we actually live in day-tight compartments" Come tomorrow, "Do what needs to be done today for today".
(And be prepared for an ARTIFICIAL jump in the scale that will take some time to go back down ... and it WILL go back down because you will have returned to normal eating as of the day after the event)
The weight of the bulk moving through your digestive system will show up on the scale, and takes maybe 48 hours to move through ... this is NOT "fat gain". It takes 3500 cals above your MAINTENANCE intake per pound for the body to store a pound of actual fat reserves. And if there are high sodium levels in the fried foods, then water retention will also make the scale seem temporarily higher.
Even if it isn't your "usual weigh-in day", weigh yourself before you leave, record it, and wait a week before you weigh yourself again. If you returned to "on-track eating and activity", you should be the same or even a bit less than pre-event after a week.8 -
@kwinnero I don't know how long you have been at this. I know that early in the process my thought process was quite similar ... going over plan for a day was a "failure".
What I have learned along the way is that consistency, not perfection, is the key. Finding that absolutely blowing it one day and getting back on plan the next was really ok was incredibly freeing for me. Now my guideline is the UAC target for the winner's circle ... no more than 3 days a month. Occasionally I miss this target ... but never two months know a row. I am finding that this is more than good enough. Perfection is not necessary.

After my first Pass Day (not a pre-planned event) ... I am right on target for pre-exercise food intake levels according to my pre-logging ....
Now to keep the actual eating the same .... and meet the intentional exercise time so that I can even have a bit more ....
Official March 5 Posting to follow at the end of the day.4 -
Another cold snap started here today ....

Dedication is my focus word of the day.
I say it sometimes throughout the day.
I close my eyes and visualize the word printed in bold on a sign.
I posted this image.
From Merriam-Webster
dedication: self-sacrificing devotion and loyalty

Yes x 3 today. Still too cold to ride, but did go to the barn to give Annie her grain and cleaned and oiled tack. Shod be able to ride tomorrow. Have a cold (thanks to airplane ride back from California), but did manage to get to gym for 20 minutes on the rowing machine and 40 minutes of weight training.4

So grateful that I was able to prep food in advance. I end up working 11 hours today, glued mostly to my desk doing a variety of troubleshooting because the software we launched this morning didn't work as expected. I would almost definitely have eaten poorly if I hadn't had all my meals to hand. Glad to have made it through the day.8 -
Pass day!
Between driving and different conference sessions I am just not moving enough today.
I’m good on calories, resisted all of the pastries and cake they shove at you at events like this.
I did already call the local YMCA and have classes set up for tomorrow morning.6 -
