Dear UAC Team,
You are special every day,
Even when you don't feel that way...
Be happy just because you are you!

Exercise: Yes - 2 and a half hour cardio and upper body strength training session ☺️
Calories: Yes

Yes x 3 yesterday (30 min 3km walk, completely exhausting)
Yes x 3 today (25 min, 3km walk, same as yesterday, much less exhausting)
Spent Tuesday still recovering from tonsillitis. I still have my tonsils and they act as my "early warning" system saying I am doing too much and getting run down. Needed to walk, to kick the body back into gear (slow walk by my standards, but really useful, and exhausting).
Other thing my body does when ill is night sweat (it usually indicates the immune system is fighting, and often winning). Lost 1.5kg (3lbs) over night instead of the usual 0.7kg (1.5lbs). All water weight. (I weigh myself before sleep and after, just out of habit, is interesting to see how the weight fluctuates).
Back at work today, mostly recovered. 2 days rest (Monday/Tuesday) did a world of good.
Tomorrow night seeing "Life of Brian" in the cinemas (40 year anniversary). Taking daughter along who has never seen it. For those who don't know it, it's a fun, very British, comedy by the Monty Python team. Politically incorrect by todays standards, but only if you take it too seriously. It's a film from my youth that made it into the popular culture of my generation.

Thought for the day (based on yesterdays post on motivation) is: Which comes first, action or motivation.
If you said motivation, it's a good answer, but sadly largely incorrect.
If you wait to be motivated to do something, likely you will wait forever.
Starting something, anything, "primes the pump" so to speak. This sparks motivation and can keep you going.
Motion creates emotion.
Try the 5 minute trick. If you are lacking motivation, but have something that needs to be done, break it down so the first task is less than 5 minutes. Most can spare 5 minutes to do a task even if not motivated or inspired to do it. If motivation or inspiration does not strike to continue in the 5 minutes stop (at least then you are 5 minutes closer to completing).
Chances are, in less than 5 minutes, the spark of motivation will arrive to let you set a path to complete the whole task.
What 5 minute task have you got that needs to be done that you have been putting off because you lack motivation?

Thanks craigo3154 for your insight on action vs motivation. Totally agree that action comes first then the motivation follows.
Back onboard with my UAC people. Lots of “sick days” and “out of province” visitors since I joined on April 1st. Onward and upward.6 -
Catching up since posting my NSV’s. What an amazing collection of NSV’s this month. Step back for a minute...very remarkable! We ROCK❣️
I am in a very good place now after catching an upward trend on scale mid-Feb to mid-March. Began making baby changes more fiber, less salt then lower calorie input, less eating out then all the things I used to do ie packing food for when I will be away from home most of a day, reading Refuse to Regain (and realizing our American food environment really is a toxic & I must be prepared...and vigilant.
Then a few days ago, when I had eaten lunch 2/3 days at the same restaurant, I decided I needed to figure out a way to stop that. So I got out my receipts & realized it’s expensive!! So, if I’m craving eating out, I can now go to a bookstore, art store, etc & spend half what I would have eating out.
I forgot this & ate out again.
But yesterday, I remembered and my reaction was now I’d rather eat out.
So as I was driving home, I finished off the 2-3 walnut halves & 2 cups of water, and said ok.
Then about 15 mins later, I said ok. Craft store it is! So I saved half the money I would have spent, got a gazillion steps in as I spent an out weaving through the store with a big smile in my face, purchased an inspiring magazine, had a blast, and this morning (drumroll)
I’m at the Lowest Weight I’ve been since early 9th grade. 150.4 & 5’8.5”
When I got home, some leggings & a shirt I ordered from Amazon had showed up. With trepidation, I opened them up carefully (sure is have to return them) and help up the gorgeous leggings & thought no way they’ll fit.
Well they did & so did the top. I can’t tell you how thrilling this is! I’m normal.
I will likely go lower than 150. I’m just gradually figuring out my optimal weight.
I thought it would be 169-170
Then 155
Then 153 lol
Then 151, but I think I’m going to probably go to 145-148.
I know in the old days, they said 100 lbs for 5’ plus 5 pounds for every inch...that would be 142.5 for me but that’s a BMI of 21.4 which seems low.
I decided when I began this journey 1202 days ago, I was inspired by our son who lost weight and kept losing weight until his stomach trimmed down, so I know it can be done and I’m on a mission to do it. I’m almost there.9 -

Light excersize makes it feel better so I may stick to brisks walk, pilates and yoga for a few days.

Optimal weight is personal and depends a lot on body type and build.
I have a regular build (mesomorph), tending to slight (lean muscular).
By the 5' plus 5 pounds for every inch rule, I should be 145. This morning I was 139.7 (and its the heaviest I have been in months, but I am also recovering from illness). I hover round a BMI of 21.0 (a little on the low side).
When I started losing weight from 200lbs, I though 155 would be my final goal. Now 155 for me seems heavy.
For a mesomorph (male of female), I find the best target range to be BMI 22 +/- 0.5. So for you, 142 to 148 seems about right.
Once close to the target range, concentrate of fitness, mobility and enjoying life. Let the habits you build keep you there. BMI is a guide, not a rule.
I keep a passing interest in the scales, but they do not rule my life. My habits (built by UAC) serve me well.

@craigo3154 Wishing you rapid and complete recovery from your illness. Enjoyed your racing video...the end must have been devastating, though. You seem to have the candle burning at both ends on a regular basis between work, family and hobbies. The appropriate phrase which applies is "If you want to get something done, ask a busy person." Life is for living, though...so enjoy every moment!5 -
