653 cals!
Not bad for me lately, but I woke up hungry, so that wasn’t good.
Great start to your first fast day @ashleyantonation ! Wondering how the rest of the day went... we’ve all struggled here. Some days work better than others. Some like to save all there cals for an evening meal, while I need about 4 oz of cottage cheese or Something to hold me till dinner. Drink tons of water each & every day.... it will get easier.
Busy day tomorrow! To many chores to list!!!!!!!0 -
Well I made it through but because of poor planning I went to bed hungry lol. I finished the day off with a salad and then ended up tasting some of my families meal while I was preparing it. Ended the day with 492 cals. I think for Thursday I will try to have something smaller at lunch time so I can have something more substantial for dinner. It will be a learning curve to see what keeps me satisfied on fasting days. Thanks everyone for the support I really appreciate it2

Hi guys!
First and foremost - below is the infamous Turkey Pumpkin Chili recipe, courtesy of Whole Foods, for you all. LOL This uses a can of pumpkin puree, so it doesn't taste artificial or sweet. The pumpkin adds sort of a smooth butternut squash consistency to the chili. A huge favorite of ours. I add a few other spices, a can of black beans, and a chopped red pepper and I get eight servings out of it. For your viewing pleasure.

Sounds like everybody is rolling along here, glad to see it! My lighter day went well for Monday! I came in around 700 which is good for me. I had salad for lunch and a bean and ground chicken stew / soup for dinner. Coffee in the AM, every morning, with milk. Cheese stick for a snack.
Drinking some water and getting some stuff done here. Will check on you guys again soon. Have a great day!0 -
Hi, all!
@ashleyantonation Glad you made it through! I have to have a "bigger" dinner on fasting days. I usually do 150 or so for lunch and then 300 or so calories for dinner. Then I go to bed early! LOL I find sparkling water helps a LOT on fast days. The bubbles make my tummy happy. Hope this helps!
@Meghan509 That is great that you had such a good light day! You got this!
@mamainthekitchen You go, girl!
I haven't had a fast in a couple of weeks. I am going to try for tomorrow and Saturday. Which reminds me to go and pack my salad for lunch and get the chicken breasts out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow night. I love to chop the chicken into "nuggets" and coat with herbs/spices and just the tiniest bit of flour and then brown it in a pan with a bit of butter. I know butter gets a bad rap, but I swear it makes me feel fuller using a couple of teaspoons of butter vs using oil.
21 more school days! Must dash to get ready for tomorrow and do my homework! Have a great rest of the week, y'all!0 -
Good morning all!
@KateNkognito great advice on light days! That chicken recipe sounds tasty and easy. I was thinking of taking some chicken breasts and putting them in the crockpot with some salsa, then putting the shredded chicken on top of a salad for next week's light day lunches. Could add some black beans and some light cheese to the greens if the calories work.
Good luck with the last few weeks of school! You got this!!
Hope everybody else is good. Things are going well here. Had a good light day Monday and a good regular day yesterday. Regular day today is going well. Had some cereal for breakfast with cashew milk. Yummy.
See you all soon. Make it a great day!1 -
Hello all!
Hope your week is going well. I just logged all my food in for the day and I should come in under 700.
My week is going well. I am counting down until vacation. We are going to Jamaica from Saturday, May 4 to Saturday, May 11. We will be with another couple. Going to a new place, but same resort company that we've been to in the past. Wow, so we depart in two Saturdays. WOW. That came up fast.
Hope everybody is good. Have a great day, especially if today is your light day!
See ya'll soon!1 -
Hello!
So First week down. I made a last minute decision yesterday to make it a fasting day. It went much better @KateNkognito I added flavored sparkling water into my day and it was fantastic. Honestly the most hungry I have felt is the morning after a fasting day as I am also doing 16:8. I love the idea that I only feel restricted 2 days of the week. I am down 4.4lbs since Monday morning. I know that the first week of a new WOE you will lose more and I don't normally get on the scale everyday but I have found it to be super helpful this week to see where I am at. My two fasting days I ended the day at 492 calories for the day and yesterday I made sure I had protein at dinner so that really helped. Thanks again for all the advice and support. I hope everyone is having a great week as well.

So, yesterday became a fast day when something I ate rebelled and I got sick. I am thinking of making tomorrow a proper fast day. I have an inservice day to learn about the new reading curriculum, so I figure I will be away from all the tasty food, so I should take advantage.
@ashleyantonation Glad you made it through and the second day was easier. That is a great loss! Congratulations!
@Meghan509 Have fun on your vacation! Bottle some sunshine and send it to me!
Off to do all the things on my list. My kids are rubbing it in that they have a day off and I don't. LOL1 -
Hi all... whew, been busy helping to prep for painting my son’s room... wiping walls, a little spackle, everything will be so much easier when my cast comes off next tues!!! Woohoo!!!! Can hardly wait!!
All this talk of chicken and salad.... I like to sprinkle chicken with Cajun seasoning (sorry @orlcam it’s from a bottle ) then slice when cooked & browned to add on top of a cesear salad! Yum.
Gotta laugh meg... your turkey pumpkin chili recipe sounds interesting....... but I’m leaving that alone! Hahaha... however I didn’t know there were recipes on the whole foods site!!!! So thanks for sharing that little nugget of info! I don’t have one near me so wouldn’t have thought about looking for that.
@ashleyantonation your enthusiasm is awesome!! So glad you made such great progress last week! I hope your weeks continue like this... and hoping it rubs off on me! I’m great at starting out the day, but end poorly!!!
Yesterday was not the fast I wanted. I was so busy prepping the sons room that my hubs went to the store for steaks! Well that didn’t end well... enough said.
I’m up early here as my dog pooped on the carpet and i woke from the foul smell!!!! Omg poor girl.
Off to put the kettle on! Sorry this got too long...
Have a great Friday everyone!!!
Meghan you’re gonna have an awesome trip!!! “Ya Mon!”1 -
Good morning all!
@ashleyantonation congrats on a successful first week! You got this! Nice loss!!!
I love the flavored waters too! Our office stocks them in different flavors made by Schwepps, Polar, and some others. There's no sodium in those either which is good.
I am plugging along. Not 100% focused but hanging in there. Need to get back to the gym. My guy is having a doctor's appt on Monday with an Orthopedic. So hopefully he is feeling better and we can get back to the gym soon. No, I am not motivated enough to go by myself. And I have been feeling lousy too with hip and back pain. Just being honest is all...
Our office is open today too, @KateNkognito so no holiday for me. Boo... Hoping to get out a little early. Good thing is traffic was non existent today. Woo hoo! Hope you are feeling better. Getting sick from food is no fun.
We are having dinner with my guy's parents tomorrow for an early Easter get together. Sunday should be low key.
Hope you and your families have a great Passover, Easter, all of the above.
See you soon!0 -
Hey all!
I see you posted at the same time as me yesterday, Mama!
Hope your dog is feeling better. Poor thing lol.
Enjoy the Whole Foods site! So many yummy recipes on there.
Hope your weekends are going well!
See you soon.0 -
Dog is just fine now thx meg... they don’t complain the way we do!!
Happy Easter my 5:2 pals
Back on the wagon on tues!0 -
Good morning all!
We are cranking through April, aren't we?!
We had a little Easter celebration on Saturday with my guy's parents. They just got back from a month long trip, so it was nice to see them and catch up. Also his Mom is a fabulous cook! She made a really nice fish with potatoes. Fresh PEI mussels for an appetizer. Yum. We love seafood everything, so we were in heaven!
Plugging along and will be eating a lighter day today and Thursday. Can't say I am totally focused on 5:2 at least until I get back from vacation. Focusing on eating the food that is in the fridge and freezer so things don't sit around for too long.
Have a good day and see you soon!1 -
My first fast day today. I am going to eat only dinner. Hoping that I can last that long2

Hi All
I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend. My little guy is 3 so we had a fun filled family weekend.
Yesterday was my fasting day and by the time I got home last night it was 730 so had a piece of rye toast with avocado with everything but the bagel seasoning. Had a frozen dinner for lunch. Ended the day with 515 cals.
Have a great day2 -
My first fast day today. I am going to eat only dinner. Hoping that I can last that long
Welcome @vkmoorthy
The goal is to do 500 calories for the day for a woman or 600 calories for the day for a man. So you don't have to wait until dinner to eat. Eat whatever and whenever you want during your Light Day as long as it meets your calorie goal.
Note, that the limits were updated to 800 calories, in the past few years or so but a lot of people do the lower amount or what works best for them.
Be sure to read up on all the great information on here regarding the Fast Diet or the 5:2 Diet. Good luck!0 -
Good morning all!
@ashleyantonation great job on your day! That avocado on toast sounds awesome! Need to try it. I LOVE that seasoning! I put it on veggies recently. So good!
On regular days I am known to enjoy a frozen blueberry waffle, toasted with a little peanut or nut butter on it. Makes a nice fulfilling breakfast and it is not a huge calorie bang.
Going to run since I am busy today. Speak to you later or soon! Have a great day!0 -
Hi All,
Hope things are good with you! Doing well here.
Work is kinda busy, but a busy day means the week goes by quicker! Looking forward to the weekend! Sunny and warm here, which is nice. Due to be in the low 60's F and sunny most of the week. I likey!!
Eating is going so so. Today we had a breakfast at work, so baked goods were involved but I am planning on eating well for the rest of the day. I bought a new bathing suit and cover up for our vacation, so I am excited about that. The suit is a tankini with a slightly flowy top. Helps to cover up the bumps around the tummy area.
Hope everybody is good. See you all soon. Have a great day!2 -
Woohoo gotta love any clothing that covers all the bumps! Haha... you’ll look fabulous Meg!
Wow what an Easter extravaganza! Way too much food! But I gave out care pkgs to the fam so they were all happy. Time to make soup now!
Welcome @vkmoorthy !! How did your day go? Lots of plain tea/coffee/water can help! I like at least a glass of almond milk (30cals) by 2pm! Or even 3 or 4 oz of cottage cheese during the day.
Awesome job @ashleyantonation ! You’re inspiring! I miss my kids being little!!! Mine are 25&22!! I used to make a bunny foot template out of cardboard, sprinkle baking soda to make foot prints all around the house & outside to & from the neighbors!! Quite hilarious, only doable at age 3&4! Ha!
Feeling a tad lazy so far today but have ton of chores to keep me moving!! Plan on a fast day today!! Crossed fingers!1 -
@vkmoorthy I hope you did well! I have to have a small lunch and then dinner. Otherwise all the children at school start to look like candies! LOL
@ashleyantonation Glad you are doing so well! You are inspiring me to do better! I have not heard of that seasoning, but it sounds super yummy. Might have to look for it at the store.
@Meghan509 Your weather sounds wonderful (and so do the baked goods)! Have a great day!
@mamainthekitchen Our kiddos are the same age difference, but mine are 10 years younger. We still had to hide eggs because it is now a competition to see who gets more and the winner gets bragging rights for the next year. My kids take egg hunting VERY seriously. LOL
I am just chugging right along. 17 more alarms until summer! Happy fasting!0 -
This is my 2nd day on IF. Yesterday was my first fasting day, and I nailed it!
Breakfast: Carrots, Hard boiled egg, apple
Lunch: Sugar snap peas, lettuce/broccoli salad with soy sauce dressing, hard boiled egg
Dinner: apple, 1/4 cup chicken
Total calories: 515.
I did the 5:2 fasting a few years ago and the biggest thing I gained was self control. That is my goal from doing this. I want to teach myself that I don’t HAVE to eat right away. It’s amazing because I’m not even hungry on my fasting days. I think it has to do with mental preparedness.
Look forward to giving weekly updates and to hearing about everyone’s progress.2 -
Good morning all!
Sounds like everybody is rocking and rolling - I like it!!
Welcome @ash012 sounds like you had a great day yesterday!!
Sorry this is a little short. Little busy 'round here lately!
Planning on a lighter day today. Got my yummy Mediterranean salad for lunch, which I am looking forward to!
Hope everybody has a good day and I will check in again soon.1 -
Happy Friday! Anybody have any fun plans this weekend? We don't have anything in particular.
Hope your Thursday was good too.
Not much happening here. Totally in vacation mode. One more week and a day to go!
See you guys soon.0 -
Hi all... my planned fast didn’t work out... just feeling out of sorts with my arm. Cast off now but feel weaker without it! I could get a lot done with my cast on as my arm felt pretty strong but now it feels weak so even driving was a little tricky... and I needed help tying my runners!!! Well, apparently this is normal so I’ve just gotta be patient. No plans for the weekend other than maybe setting up our sun deck furniture.... we’ll see, I may just get one chair cleaned then dry it and sit in it!! Haha
Have a good one people!
I’ll be back to normal soon!!2 -
Hi guys!
Hope your weekend is going well. Not too much happening over here. Doing some packing and clothing organizing for vacation. Kind of fun to plan for warm weather.
I am fasting today (no food, just fluids) since I have a medical test tomorrow AM. So won't be doing a lighter day on Monday and will instead move that to Tuesday. This is a routine test. I am a cancer survivor, so it's what I need to do.
Enjoy the rest oc your weekend and see you soon.2 -
Hey, all! I am just plugging along. I am still fat and sassy. I have decided I am not even going to think about fasting or weight loss until school is out. I *will* try to keep it under control, but not going to worry if I eat the chocolate and all the carbs. Sounds like you all are doing well! @Meghan509 I am so jealous!0
-
Good morning everybody!
My medical related fast went well on Sunday. And my medical test went well on Monday. Back to regular eating... Not really focused on 5/2 this week as we are trying to eat what is left in the house before we head off for vacation on Saturday. When we return we are aiming to be back at it and returning to the gym.
Hope everybody is well! Can you believe a month has gone by and we will start a May thread tomorrow!? Jeez that flew.
See you soon!!1 -
@Meghan509 April really did fly by! Now I just need to get my rear in gear and get everything done before the end of the semester!0
-
Well I’m ending April with a new mindset.... I’ve been reading all about keto... mostly for my diabetic son, but it does make a lot of sense. I have already had 2 days of keto ‘like’ menus, although I washed them down with a little vino, so I suppose that doesn’t count? Ha! I think I may try keto for 3 weeks only to kick start me and propel myself into more positive mindset. Sigh... this is hard sometimes. But I know I feel better lighter, so I’ve got to do what works. Tonight’s menu was spaghetti meat sauce over zucchini noodles! I like to sauté the noodles in a pan rather than boil or micro, it seems to fry out the moisture better
Hope all is well.0
