We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion. Thread starters for June are below:

Today's Topic: White Lies
How honest are you when it comes to reporting your height and weight on government, medical, or other documents?

The inspiration for today's topic comes from my visit to the drivers services facility last week. While I had been able to renew by mail the last two times (Illinois licenses are good for 4 years, at least at my age), I had to take the vision test. Illinois requires your height and weight to be on your license. My height and weight have not changed on my license since I first got one back when I was 16. But in reality, my weight was considerably higher for many, many years.
I'm pretty sure it was obvious to the clerk when I was around age 40 that I was lying when I said there was no changes in spite of weighing 304 pounds. My license claimed I was 175 pounds.
I've been under 170 (my WW goal) since 2012. So this time, I did adjust the weight on my license to further reinforce that I will never return to my old weights.
And since I had to go in, I brought all the documents needed to upgrade to REAL ID. Illinois was one of the few states that was not in compliance with the federal regulations regarding identity verification. But we finally got our act together which is good since you need either the REAL ID or a passport to fly after October 1, 2020.0 -

Same here. I always falsified weight on my driver's license until after reaching goal on WW. I think my license stated 250#, when I was actually north of 300#.
I recall going through TSA once with that old drivers license, and the TSA agent took a good look at me and said "Good for you. Good for you."
My dad's driver's license indicated he was a female. He never bothered to have it corrected
until expired. LOL.0 -
Not anymore. 5’8” 179
Better than 5’10” 376!!!

Yup I lie about my height at times and sometimes have about weight. I think our state is still not fully Real ID yet too.0

I don’t intentionally lie on my drivers license, but I went for over a decade without changing it, because when they asked me if there were any changes, I would think “no, I still live at the same address.”0

LOL I still 'claim" the USAF's measurement of 6"0", although I'm 5'11" at best now. Weight pretty consistant with the truth, up or down. We, in NH are converting to Real ID. TOL has to get her licence renewed this year, and I may upgrade mine at the same time.0

I "USED" to be 5'10" 180,
I "AM" 5'7" and more than 180. I have not changed my DL since we moved to Virginia 6 years ago. I need to think about it soon because the Virginia is also going to Real ID this summer (not sure of the date)0 -
I usually put on it my current weight and height not say I haven't fudged in years past. My height used to be 5'10 3/4 but now it's down to 5'8". Hard to believe I've lost that much. height. A few years back GA changed over and required all kind of documentation such as birth certificate and two forms of ID like a utility bill etc. It was a mess to say the least. Pretty easy now except at my age I have to take eye exam.0

@imastar2 - when I first started working at the retirement community over 13 years ago, I was sure people would be upset with the number I would tell them when I weighed them for their fitness assessment. NOPE - they got upset at how much height they had lost. I had one man tell me I didn't know what I was doing. He claimed he was 6' but I'm 5' 11" and was looking down at him.
I know that I will not be a happy camper to lose any of my inches. Unfortunately, gravity is not our friend and if you live long enough, the discs in your spinal column will become compressed leading to loss of height. Some lose height also due to abnormal curvature of the spine with age or compression fractures of the vertebrae.0 -
@gadgetgirlil It's amazing how much height we lose the older we get your right.👍☹0
