his is where you can share what's on your mind. Recipes, ideas, workouts, anything that you think might be helpful to others.
Maybe, you've tried something that has worked for you in the past and would like to share it with the group. Maybe, you have a NSV (Non Scale Victory) that you would like to share with the group. Anything that you feel comfortable sharing or anything that you feel comfortable asking the group with help....this is the place to come.
The GOOD!! What NSV did you have this week!!
The BAD!! So what....you ate the whole thing!!
The UGLY!! That darn scale went through the window this week....it deserved it too!!
So, what's on your mind today??

A few things on my mind:
1. I've been very good about logging my food for a week now and I've also been exercising (most days). I'm ready for this challenge to start.
2. I've been eating a little bit under my calories the last few days; "banking" a few calories for 4th of July. It won't necessarily "even out," but it makes me feel a little bit more in control of situation.
3. I need to get back to the gym. Mostly to get some intense exercise, but also to get a new profile photo.

@RangerRickL thanks so much for the challenge!
@MadDuck62 , I'm also so ready to be held accountable this month and be on it every day with the logging and exercise..... two weeks ago I logged it all but last week got lazy/stressed/tired and stopped again. From today I'm going to try!
What have you planned for 4th July?
As a brit living in Portugal I now too celebrate the day as in my city we get a public holiday on 4th July for our saint's day! Luckily though that doesn't mean an obligation to go mad with the food, just a nice mid week day off work!
I'm already a bit nervous about the weekends in this challenge as I normally have a higher cal day and allow myself choccie, crisps, alcohol and a high cal meal... going to see if I manage to curb that this weekend, let's see!
Have a great week everyone!3 -
I posted this in other thread I am in, but I wanted to share it in the UAC as well.
I found a bit of encouragement the other day as I was reading my homework. The book is about strategic planning/management and the topic was changing behavior. The quote said that a rocket ship launching into space will use half of its fuel in the first few moments while it pulls away from the launch pad. This is due to fighting gravity. I found it interesting- I am in that "spot" of fighting my own "gravity" of my old habits and replacing them with new healthy ones. Once my new "healthy lifestyle" habits are developed, half the battle is won and closer to achieving my goals.12 -

This challenge is a great chance for us all to get a fresh start on our goals. I'm spending the 4th with some friends at a BBQ. Best of luck on your weekends!

Just wish I had made better choices especially carbs what do others eat for lunch at work I am a case manager on the go most days something nutritious but easy to pack on a Rykar!0

@snowshoe13tx I typically have greek yogurt with berries, a banana, chopped walnuts and a TBS of whey protein powder. You can very calories by adjusting the amount of the ingredients you add to the yogurt. Good protein and fat ... keeps me going till dinner. Quick and easy to fix, but you do need to keep it refrigerated.1

@snowshoe13tx yesterday lunch was left over pasta, today it is cous cous salad with feta and veggie soup, tomorrow it is veggie chilli that I batch cooked on Sunday.
I also usually have berries / veggie sticks for snacks.0 -
When I worked I had yoghurt and fruit for lunch. Anything else made me lethargic.0

What I love about tracking is...
It gives me a hard copy of what works for me and what doesn't. I can go back and see what habits I have as my go to when I'm hungry and how that effects the bottom line (macros/weight). You learn to eat when you are hungry and not when "you feel like it". It takes a while to see we all have eating habits some we didn't even know.
I don't usually eat back calories (although I am looking into it) however, yesterday the plan was to make a brownie sundae for my daughter and I after she got out of work. I actually did burn extra calories in anticipation of the extra 350 calories of the sundae. I ate all meals as normal not reducing. She called and worked late. Not sure if it was the sundae on my mind or actual hunger but I was starving at 8pm. Not typical I'm not a snacker. I am willing to throw off my macros percentage for an occasional treat but didn't want to have it without her (she'd make me have another one tomorrow with her lol). I drank 16oz of water thinking maybe I'm just thirsty. Nope still hungry. Finally I settled on a protein shake (not my fav) and was no longer hungry. In the past I'd eat whatever I wanted because... I was hungry. Tracking has made me able to take a step back and decide if I am really hungry and if so address the hunger NOT the craving. I am considering this a NSV for yesterday9 -

So important. Nearly every time I have struggled with binging behavior it has been after undereating for a day or two.2 -

Think I might try this recipe. I've tried other recipes from this site which I've liked quite well. I'm not gluten intolerant...but others might appreciate this gluten free recipe.

Since I can't delete this post, thought I would follow up. Tried this recipe today and I wasn't overly thrilled. Probably won't make them, again...I would most likely give this recipe a 👎🏼.1 -
Hi Group! With starting late I missed the winners circle .. but in for the consistent daily accountability.
Thanks!8 -
I've been feeling so hungry the past few days, which surprisingly isn't common when I'm dieting (I often want to eat more even though I'm not hungry). I looked at my macros on MFP and realized I've been so low on fat. It was 12% after lunch today, 15% yesterday, 17% the day before. I've been making up the difference mostly in protein (my carbs have been averaging just over 50%).
I looked up high fat foods and settled on hard boiling some eggs (I had them on hand, so no trip to the store required). They are roughly 63% calories from fat and almost all the rest from protein. I'm hoping this helps out.2 -

I love mfp for this reason. When something is off I can check my percentages. Everyone sets up their macros to suit them and it's kind of trial and error. In the end, to me the goal is to know when you are actually hungry and eat then and not when you simply want to. One of the learning curves is - what do I eat when I've already met my calorie needs and I am still hungry? In this scenario I drink a protein shake because I'm not a fan so I know if I'm having that I must indeed be hungry. In the past I'd have a ring ding1 -
Since MadDuck62 mentioned this... I've been curious what is everyones take on eggs? If you go by macros you can never eat another egg. The cholesterol in 2 eggs is 374mg which exceeds the daily of 300mg for a healthy person without any other cholesterol for the day. I have chickens and eggs used to be a common breakfast. Curious to other's views on this.0

Eggs are fine in moderation. The only problem I have is that they make me constipated lol 😈0
-
This is why I count calories and I am learning that there is no "good" or "bad" foods. The daily food choices I make
just needs to be within my calorie range and in moderation. I can't stick with a "diet" that won't let me eat eggs or chocolate. To be honest, I wouldn't be able to stick with it because it is not realistic to say I will never eat an egg again. And I don't want to live in a world with no chocolate.
Is macros something new? I have noticed a lot of people use it on MFP. I have a friend that went for weight loss surgery and the doctors taught her to count macros.
Regardless, I think the key is what will work for each of us and it's a healthy lifestyle that is balanced and realistic.2 -
i am egg intolerant so I dont eat eggs all that often, but I think anything in moderation is ok.2

I have no clue what I would do without my eggs. They fit all my other macros and keep me full until early afternoon. If I need a snack that’s high fat I try to turn to nuts or peanut butter on celery. Works well for me most of the time.2

Look in your Goals tab you'll see the nutrient column that's your macros (carb/protein/fat) and over to the right is the micros. For a healthy person cholesterol is typically 300mg or less.
I am not on any food diet or restrictions but my question is since people have been eating eggs for thousands of years it is not clear to me if the 372mg from 2 eggs is valid. Given- everything in moderation but even when I eat chocolate or drink wine I'm not blowing any daily macro/micro. Thought I'd ask in this forum since the web jury is questionable on this.0
