Hi, I started Keto June 11, 2019.
Absolutely love it. Inches dropped, energy boost, hormonal changes.

I have a nice friends list going of other low carbers and ketoers.

I'm kind of a nerd, who is sometimes a little too enthusiastic, but it's comforting opening up here, I think because most everyone can relate to health issues, weight, and/or body image struggles.

I love the news feed for motivation, support, reading others' diaries for ideas, and sharing diary with friends.

I'm open to adds for other low carbers and ketoers. I also enjoy seeing others' successes and milestones. ;)

    Your food looks freaking amazing!!! We're gonna start playing with the food a little more!! It's time to start venturing away from eggs and meats...

    Five words for you: Italian Tuna in Olive Oil. :*
    You will never look at 'Light tuna packed in water' again.

    Was it nasty?

    I'm getting sick of tuna. Not sick of eggs just yet, just because of how versatile they are. But time to starting cooking some of the actual keto recipes and foods.

    Meat and eggs everyday...I need a little more variety.

    @canadjineh

    Is it like night and day difference from the regular "light tuna in water?"

    Always up for trying new foods and different varieties!

    @Emmapatterson1729 Ohhhh, yes.
    Tuna in water is icky cat food in comparison. (I'll still use it in a pesto and edamame pasta dish, or with lots of mayo & hot lime pickle in a romaine boat - it works there and is cheaper)
    My favorite brand here: https://riomare.ca/product/tuna-in-olive-oil/

    I might be having to drive up to Seattle and see if I can find some. Shop at some of the import markets there.

    I like Trader Joe's, a lot of European imported foods there, but no imported tuna.

    Hello! Anyone can friend me too. I opened my diary up to friends. Just be warned that I put stuff down randomly since I fast - so ‘lunch’ may not be at lunch :)

    And right now because of my 5 day fast I’m letting myself go a bit above my usual carbs with fruit. Trying to make sure I get everything going again!

    Hi, all, just started keto diet. Would love to friend you. I have been suffering what seems to be keto flu. Feeling so weird most of the time and can’t wait for the end of it... supposedly ketosis will set in then.

    Thanks for starting the conversation.

    @snha

    I described keto flu as just feeling weird!!

    But as soon as that part was over, the energy and feeling was great!!!

    Best thing for keto flu is upping electrolytes.

    We take a 250 mg magnesium daily.
    We cook with sea salt.
    And add a very light sprinkle of potassium salt substitute.

    https://drbubbs.com/blog/2017/1/top-3-mineral-deficiencies-on-a-ketogenic-diet-and-how-to-fix-it

    Good luck. I think Keto is way simpler than the internet makes it out to be.

    @snha check out the 'stickies' at the very top of the forum - The Launch Pad - everything you always needed to know about starting and troubleshooting keto.

    Hi everyone! Sent a bunch of friend requests on this thread. Hope it's ok. I'm more low carb than keto (usually around 30 net carbs... sometimes higher sometimes lower) trying to refocus after a bad health issue late last year resulting in weight gain.
    Thanks Lisa

    Same here, I keep carbs and calories in a range.

    Can get into ketosis 50 or under net carbs.. So you could get into a ketogenic state!

    I started keto after a medical issue caused a lot of weight gain, also.

    So far, so good!!!

    Currently Tomato Basil and Pepper Jack are my preferred choices.

    Add a fork and toss the empty can in in the empty whisp's bag and lunch is done with little to clean up. :)

    I do not like cat food style of tuna either. Since I have to go to Walmart I usually get them there but have done the Amazon thing before.
