I took the afternoon off to work with a western ranch horse trainer. He is such a great coach. Most of the time he kept telling me to relax and not be so tense. I rode a lovely horse who was not tense except when I was tense. Eventually, when I got relaxed, everyone was relaxed. What a surprise!!
Exercise: horse back activities for 4 hours
Tracking: good
Calories: under my limit8 -

Yes x 3. I overate yesterday, so I might expect that I would be less hungry today. Except it doesn't work that way for me. I was hungry today. I ate all my calories including most of my meagre exercise calories (just my morning strength training sesh). Usually, I can handle a decent deficit on the second and third day. Hopefully that happens tomorrow.6

-- yes,yes,yesToo much detail?
After four days of no exercise I figured my knees were up for something ambitious.
I got up at first light and drove the 20 minutes to the "Canyon."
Didn't stop at the "track" .
I had the Canyon to myself for the first couple of hours.
It is cool there. Sun doesn't reach in there for a while.
Got up to my usual turn around at 2000 feet. Felt like pressing on.
Little bit after that the scrabbly dirt road hooks up to a paved road that goes up the mountain.
There are cars on that stretch but it is more or less civilized.
I climb for another couple of hours.
My gps watch gives me a low battery signal. Ugh. I can out exercise my watch battery. It had a fresh charge when I started. I think wearing my heart monitor causes it to drain faster.
I turn off my watch and switch to cell phone gps for tracking.
But I don't get a contiguous segment so I don't know if I PR'd or not.
At the top some people that passed me on the road approached me and expressed admiration for my achievement. They are retired guys like me. I guess it went to my head since I am thinking about it and mentioning it.
I guess that is kind of like NSV.
NSV - I can still get up that mountain. I get up it at a lower heart rate these days. I used to have to stop a lot. Used to be I would stop a minimum of once per mile. Now more like once per hour. I do a climb of this magnitude maybe 3 times in the summer. I normally would have a couple of beers and a couple of shots to oil my joints after this sort of effort. Didn't do that today.
- I put a pic of what the app looks like for that climb. I like how it shows the time spent in each heart rate zone. I actually climbed a bit more than this shows. This is just up until where I turned my watch off.
- I put a vid clip of my little Buddy because he keeps my life force at full charge.
