Hi to all returning UAC Team Members and New Members!
Over the next few days, I'll walk through some of the FAQs of the UAC.
FAQ #3: What does the UAC mean when we say that you should intentionally do at least 20 minutes of exercise every day? Is extreme exercise required, like the couple above are demonstrating?
Answer: for FAQ 3, What counts as exercise?
Nearly all physical activity counts as exercise. That includes walking, cleaning your house, playing tag with the kids, walking your dog, etc. This doesn't mean you should do the bare minimum every day if you're capable of much more. If you want results, you have to challenge yourself, but for the purpose of the Ultimate Accountability Challenge, 20 minutes of any kind of exercise will suffice.
We are focused on long-term healthy habits that once internalized lead to proper weight, fitness, and feeling good.

I adore this. How active I’m able to be day to day fluctuates wildly. I’d struggle with more absolute rules.
UAC helps me stay away from the dreaded “I give up” days, and significantly reduces the “I’m too busy” days.
The more days I can string together where I have met my goals the better my view of myself tends to be, and correspondingly, my mental health in general.9 -

Well said! I could not agree less. My “I’m too busy” days have significantly reduced because I don't think it is enough excuse for a Pass day. I now evaluate “I’m too busy” days--- like really, really? too busy to give yourself at least a 12 minutes walk and at least 8 minutes stretch?

hi hope everyone is enjoying the brand new month - 3 x yes for me but as Rick says there is a bare minimum for each part of the challenge that I can achieve but it does leave me feeling like I could do better with more effort - that said I expect there will be days when I feel more effortful - days when I will Not reset my calorie limit to maintenance because I wake up feeling hungry and disorganised - days when I'll do more exercise than track 20 mins of steps tied in with extra housework jobs (that admittedly I wouldn't do otherwise if I wasn't wanting to get some exercise in). so yes today I have done the bare minimum and it does feel a bit lacking and I want to do better. realise this post sounds a bit pitiful whinging - but i wont delete it - perhaps it will help someone else in some way. best wishes all x8

I’m gonna do my best to keep everything under control!
Any tips on accurately tracking food when traveling and eating at unknown and unplanned locations?
All the best to y’all!8 -
Successful day for me despite the sushi lunch with a friend. I may have not estimated the calories perfectly but I'm way under today, so there is plenty of buffer there.
Did 20 minutes of breaststroke to see how my shoulder would cope (physio wasn't sure I could do it) and it was great! Plus got in 4 sessions of shoulder homework PT.7 -

Checking in on day 2!
Exercise: Recorded 6mi of hiking before my Fitbit battery got to low and turned off. But was easily above 20 minutes of exercise!
Under calories: Yup, already logged and am looking forward to my dinner, then some beers but I'll be driving so it'll be two or less and I've got them recorded too!
Recorded on MFP: Yup.
Three checks today and another great hike with my dogs. A thing is note is that I'm unemployed the first few week of October (seasonal job that starts October 24th) so right now it's pretty easy to participate in this challenge but I really joined so that I set up good habits now and am ready for when work starts up!6 -

It will probably be impossible to weigh/measure your food. Some people take photos of their food so they can try to look it up when they get back to their hotel. You might also take photos of the names of the restaurants and search later for websites with calorie info.
Good luck and enjoy yourself!

@vivalavida82 - fun job! (dangerous, too) I just make a drink limit before I arrive, and then attempt an honest guess for the closest calories when logging meals I don't know and go on. Oh, and take a picture of your plate before you eat to help remember. Have fun!
