Although, the toucan, macaw, and quetzal are the most sought after birds to see in Costa Rica, the bird above is called the Oropendola. When I was in language school, we would be seated in screened cabinas situated within a rainforest reserve. The Oropendola have a lovely intonation that is also so pleasing to hear. By Saturday, I plan to go for a hike in that reserve and listen for the oropendola.

Lost weight again! Found out that one serving of tortilla chips was only a bit less carb-wise than a whole healthy meal, which made my lunch and snacking decisions for today easy. My Fitbit has been acting wonky since yesterday, but I think I got in about 10,000 steps, and for certain exercised more than 20 minutes.7

Exercise: Yes. 60 minute yoga class and some 60 minutes walking. Got very wet.

Exercise: yes, biked to Ikea. (Not quit as glamorous as the guardrail @BuddysSurrogateGrandpa1, but had to errands...) Had planned to bike back as well but there was a crazy rainstorm, so i had to take to subway.
Calories: yes! Without even dipping in the exercise calories which is rare these days. Avoided the Golden Arches as I was waiting for the rain to calm down and opted for sushi! :-)

Hello from Costa Rica
We got to our family’s home at midnight last night.
I slept until I woke up at 8:00 am and then downstairs for some wonderful coffee.
Turrialba is an agricultural community which is focused in production of sugar cane and coffee.
We are down in a valley and surrounded by mountains.
Just relaxed with Joaquin and Ana.
They are in their mid 70’s. When they were kids, there was one train track running across the country from the Carribean to the Pacific. No highways. Most people walked everywhere and cargo was transported by ox cart.
In contrast, today both of them were communicating via Facetime with my Spanish speaking daughter, Catherine in California6 -

3 x’s yes. 90 minutes of grueling interval training and an hour of yoga. Ate all the way up to my max calories. I’m getting 2-3 hours of exercise per day so I felt like I needed to feed the beast. Keeping focused on fitness and muscle tone.2

Nov. 21- Yes x3, had a small walk. mom made a wonderful stewed chicken with tomatoes & carrots, made such a comforting nutritious bowl of rice, broth, and chicken.
Nov. 22- Pass. I tracked and ate within calories but couldn't exercise, I'm feeling sick/weak/feverish. I cooked dinner for my family then did 30minutes of stretches but other than that I was dead to the world lol
skimmed the fat from the chicken broth and used that to make a yorkshire pudding for dinner, i saw a lady make some today on tv and thought "oh wait i can do that too" so i did! the recipe said to let the batter sit for an hour but i didnt read that at first so i just dumped the batter straight into the hot oil but i think it came out decent-ish. It was tasty! And took on the chicken flavor, but very soft in the middle and I think these things are supposed to be more airy or something??? Either way, it made everyone happy. I served it with a side of rice with veggies stewed in the rice.1 -

Ugh...Damp and foggy this morning. Sometimes when it is like that, if you go up on the mountain you pop out into the sun above the fog.
Don't know if that was the case. My knee had zero ambition this morning.
It had a precise recollection of 49 minutes of spin class.
I used to be able to do more than that easy. Was that last year or years ago?
Feels good now though.
I will do something tomorrow though. Temp is supposed to be right at freezing.
Buddy is coming over so I have to get done early.
I think I am going to try to get Buddy to communicate a choice between pizza and his favorite pasta and cheese.3 -

My mom is visiting this weekend so it will be 3 pass days. It's possible I'd be ok on calories one or two of the days but part of my enjoyment of being with her and enjoying eating together is not tracking.
But I finally lost some weight (1.4 lb, or 0.4 from the start of Nov) and was well under for two days so I'm at least not going to lose too much ground over the weekend!1 -

@lotta7e My Fitbit was acting oddly yesterday. Did yours just suddenly stop tracking steps and or heartrate?
