Please feel free to share as much information as you feel comfortable sharing about yourself with the rest of the group. I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better.
GOOD LUCK!

I'm brand new and looking forward to the December challenge. I'm going to keep up my progress and try to be more active every day to meet the 20 per day for entering the challenge!7

I’m not new to mfp. I was here a few years ago and got very close to my weight goal of 140 lb. I fell off the wagon and gained almost 90 lbs over the years. So here I am trying to lose it back and hopefully not gain it ever again. So here’s to successfully losing it again a second time around and keeping it off.7

I love this challenge and this group. Everyone is very supportive and the daily stories of battling with unhealthy lifestyles, and winning! are inspiring.
I have joined a few times already, as yet never done a full month, let alone a Winner's Circle, but I'm not giving up. I'm doing better now than I've done for ages, feel much better in myself too, am slowly losing weight and getting fitter, largely thanks to UAC. I doubt I'll make the Winners' Circle in December, as I'm celebrating Christmas at my son's, who's a Chef, but there are 23 + maybe 4 more days that are NOT likely Pass Days! I look forward to meeting or re-meeting you all in December.5 -
Hello, everybody. I've taken part in the UAC now for several months and plan to continue. I've found the group friendly and very supportive. Reporting here is a great way to end my day and keep me focused.
I recently reached "normal," but am trying to lose a few more pounds so I'm more in the middle of that range. I also want to increase my stamina and overall fitness.
I look forward to seeing you all in December!4 -
I'm back. It's summer here in South Africa which means beach days and stranded seals keeping me busy. Most people get a long holiday over season but I work with animals and is our busiest time so I end up trying to fit social stuff in and am running around note than normal. Summer means salads and braai (bbq) so if I'm careful I can eat well even though I'm socialising.
I'm also going to try and get back into Jiu Jitsu before the end of the year, technique only is boring and I'm so unfit. Getting back to rolling will fix my fitness issues quickest and build up strength all over.6 -
Excited to start my 12th month in a row with UAC! I'm looking forward to this challenge helping me stay on course during the holidays, and making the Winner's Circle for a full year!8

Happy to return.
Had a lot going on in personal life, but looking to "get back on the horse" so to speak.
For those who do not know me, I am a 51yo father to a beautiful daughter and husband to an amazing wife in Australia (so I report in early).
The last few months have been a struggle and I am looking forward to being back. I find I need the structure of UAC to help keep me on track on more ways than I care to admit.
My commitment is to post every day and make it through to the end of December even if I have more than three pass days.

Welcome back, Craig! We've missed your posts!2

Hello! This will be my 3rd month in this challenge and it has been SO helpful in keeping my motivation/accountability up, especially for being active every day.
December will be interesting with Christmas, out-of-town family visits, and my husband's birthday, but I've surprised myself on a few occasions I thought for sure would be pass days so far, so I'm looking forward to seeing where I end up this month.5 -
Welcome back Craig! We missed you and your wisdom in the team!3

Hi, my name is Carol. I've been participating in this challenge for 2 years, having first joined in December 2017. So very pleased you have chosen to participate in UAC, be it a continuation from a previous month, a new adventure for you, or a return to revisit a healthier lifestyle. UAC is not a quick fix. It is a commitment to a "better you" that only you can make. Welcome aboard!5

This will be my second month in UAC. I joined in November, and found it really helpful to be motivated to workout at least 20 minutes even the couple days when I felt too tired, but knew I could fit in 20 mins.
About me:
-Have used MFP over the years, but consistently over last 3 months
-Get 60-120 mins of activity on most days
-Have 100+ lbs to lose, and it’s been really slow
-Have a sedentary job and work about 60 hours per week in off season and 80+ hours March-June.
-Have T1D over 20 years-use Dexcom/tslim.
-Primary motivation to be active on MFP is to stay motivated to lose weight/stick with daily activity, and kcal/macro nutrient trending.6 -
I’ve been on and off in this group and am finding I need it again for accountability. Last month I changed my user name. I used to be lamlam2013. I’m ready for this!6

Hi all! Welcome to returnees and newcomers.
And a thousand thanks to our leader, @RangerRickL for helping us stay accountable.
I’m Terri from Northern Ireland. Back for my 14th month. Working on improving my fitness and health. Made the Winners Circle 13 times so far.
Original Goal for 2019 was to reach 155lbs, which I have already achieved. I have now revised it down to <150lbs. I briefly dipped down to 149 last week in November, but upping my strength intensity has temporarily halted my downward trend. I am now at my lowest weight in 4 decades!
UAC is a good place for anyone to start the practicing of new habits, in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere, and I echo everything @w8goal4life said earlier.
Just a few details on my personal journey to health and fitness.
Aim for 2019 ~ reach 155 <150WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED
Aim for each month ~ Weigh less at the end than I did at the beginning
I am FOCUSED on heathy food choices and DETERMINED to achieve my goals!
Age: 73; Height 5’2”; Female
SW: 227lbs (Mar 2014)
LW: 153 (Oct 2016)152.6 Oct 2019
UGW: 155 140s (this may change when I get there 😂 )
CW: 152.6- For the last 3 years I have tended to bounce up and down between 160 - 170. Occasionally I bounced up/down a little more.
- My ideal situation would be to be below 155, to allow me some wiggle room for holidays/celebrations, hence my original goal for 2019, which I have now revised down a little.
- I use CI/CO and a variety exercise for extra calories.
- Logic would suggest that I have found a natural comfortable weight, and, according to modern BMI calculation, I am in the upper range of normal for my age and height. However, logic doesn't always dictate our desires and feelings. 😂
- Getting and staying healthy and fit requires the development of a permanent lifestyle reset.
- Replacing unhelpful habits with more useful ones is key to to the process.
- Losing weight is only one of the elements.
- Eating healthy and staying actively is not OPTIONAL, but an ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts on weight which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be several lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a permanent lifestyle change for most people.

Hello
December is a month where my dietary/fitness candle burns at both ends.
Big uptick in feasting and libation coupled with a big downtick in exercise due to weather.
I gotta get serious. It took me 8 months to shed last years winter weight. I have a feeling it is the older I get the harder that shed is going to get.
Gotta get serious about track and exercise. That's me.4 -
I'm back for month 5! I had three months of WC and then one not. This month I won't again since I am leaving the 25th to visit home and then go on a scuba vacation in Tobago and won't be tracking while away. I'll also be joining Jan late since I fly back Jan 4. But I hope to use the rest of these two months to hold me accountable and keep the holiday weight gain minimal!4
-
@TerriRichardson112, thanks for posting your words of wisdom. I've saved it to refer back to again.
I've been a member of UAC since December 2018. I took October off with the intention of returning in November and did, however, I didn't make the winner's circle this month. That will change in December. I really want to make my mini-goal of being at 1/2 way to my goal weight by December 31, 2019. In order to do that I need to lose 9 pounds in December. It will be extremely hard, but I don't think it will be impossible. I've made a plan on what I need to do to get there, and I'm sticking to it. Here's to a great month with a tremendous team of people! 🥂6 -
This is my first month joining UAC. I've been on MFP since July and deliberately losing weight since May. My goal was to lose 15-20 pounds. So far, I am down about 14.
Besides the standard holiday season, we celebrate both our birthdays and our anniversary in December (all 3 on the same day), so it will be quite a challenge to make the WC. I'm committed for the month either way!5 -
My name is Lulu and I'm a 69 year old grandmother trying to stay fit and strong for my grandchildren. I've been plagued with injuries this year and this challenge is just the thing I need to get me back into the groove of exercising every day.
I've been here since 2013 and lost 60 lbs over the first 3 years. Last year I began gaining some of that weight back but have managed to keep it in the 10 to 15 lb range. I'm not happy about that though and hope to finish the year off strong by losing a few lbs and moving into 2020 a bit stronger than I've been this year.
I enjoy walking, hiking, swimming and gym days that include a lot of weight lifting and some cardio (generally the Stairmaster, rowing machine or stationary bike).
Hope everyone has a great challenge!6 -
Hi everybody! I’m back for December. My calorie goal is set at 1750 for December. I’m not technically overweight, but here to develop healthier habits and to shed the few extra pounds that are making me feel uncomfortable and have squeezed me out of my normal wardrobe. Planning three pass days: Dec17 and Dec xy for two work outings and Dec 25 for our annual feast in Chicago’s Chinatown. In addition to tracking, calories, and exercise, I have a daily meditation goal. Hoping to make it into the winner’s circle for the first time in December, that would be pretty awesome!7

Hi all I am back for month 6 I believe I have made the circle 2x’s in the challenge I have found that even if I don’t make the winners circle I have still been a winner in my book it is not always easy but it keeps me focused best of luck to all5

I am new to this challenge and trying to return to health and fitness. I'm excited about a challenge that's all about accountability. With a significant amount of weight to lose, this challenge should help get me off to a good start.
Personal goal to walk a minimum of 1 mile per day to work my way to start running again.5 -
Hi! I am new to UAC. I am excited to start this challenge since it focuses on activity, calorie intake, and accountability which are important to me. I have to lose a significant amount of weight but I am hoping being on UAC will encourage me to stay on track and eventually reach my final goal.2
-
Hi all, I joined the UAC in September and definitely didn't make the winners' circle, but it was a very eye opening experience for me (in a good way!). I've always known that I turn to food and wine when I'm stressed, but I hadn't realized how often I was getting stressed and going off track. I've been mostly away from MFP in October and November due to my wedding and honeymoon and I'd like to try to finish the year strong!5
-
Hi all! This is my first UAC. I am about 2-8 pounds from goal weight and have lost 64.9 pounds since Feb 4 using MFP to log calories in and Apple watch to track calories out. I have found the 10 day challenges with daily weighs very helpful, but I have a tendency to go over my target on weekends, and with extra travel this month (no scale and more temptations to indulge) and the holidays, welcome joining this group to help with accountability!7
-
Hi everyone!
This is my first UAC! I’ve been using MFP actively for about 5 weeks. I’m looking forward to joining this group to keep the progress and habits going strong through December.
5 -
Hello! I just started MFP, so I’m a few days late in starting the challenge - but I’m excited to make it through the rest of the month!5
-
Welcome to the team, @Sarah412elizabeth! Nice to meet you!0

Just staring today. I need to get my food diary up to date so it is useful. Thanks!3

Hi I'm new here today. I know it's the middle of the month and the holidays are coming up, so I know I won't make any winner circles this year. But still, I've been doing very good the past couple of days and I want to keep the momentum going.2
