Happy weekend!
I’m back in Arizona.
Rose & I will celebrate our 47th wedding anniversary on Monday. She has chosen for us to celebrate that momentous occasion by driving almost to the Mexican border and hiking in Organ Pipe National Park near Ajo, Arizona.
Today, I’ll get myself motivated to post a February UAC invitation on the MFP Challenge board. More about that later9 -

Slow start back from holidays. Could not get motivated to do more than my usual minimum.
Still finding rhythm.
Tomorrow is my fathers 80th birthday, so going to celebrate with family. Australia day public holiday Monday, then back to work.
@RangerRickL. Congrats on 47 year anniversary for Monday.
@w8goal4life. Sorry for your loss. Transition into retirement is hard. Some, unfortunately, never find a new balance. Western culture programs people, men in particular, to value themselves on current earning/producing capacity. This programming starts in childhood and is hard to break.

So the Bossman showed up at work today bearing ...you guessed it...donuts! Not again! Anyway I wasn’t taking back to back pass days so I had to go out this afternoon and get some extra hoofing in. Got pretty deep into the exercise calories, but still had some left at the end.3 -
@RangerRickL - Wishing both you and Rose many more years of health and happiness together. That's a great way to spend your 47th. (you must have been a baby when you married!)

on track day -Tried to get out for exercise way early this morning because Buddy coming over.
Got up to parking spot before sun peeked over the mountain.
Guy pulled in behind me and parked.
Heh, in the company of athletes. This guy 10 years older than me and pretty darn active yet. He is still doing Imogene (pass run). He still does Mt Taylor biathlon. Top of his age group in that sort of competition. Heh, approaching 80 that age group can't be too many guys.
He gave me some good encouragement and challenge on commitment.
I went up a substantial hill on some blacktop. It was early yet. I seen a couple of coyotes a ways off the road that were just waking up. One of them stretched, you know how like dogs do. Kind of reaching forward with forelegs or paws and putting head down. You know stretching like that. Those coyotes were about as big as I have ever seen coyotes. I thoght the size of a deer until I figured better. They looked at me and weren't particularly inclined to move away. I stopped and made like I was going to move in their direction and they moved off kind of casual like.
I went up a little branch road that I haven't been up but a couple of times. So I got some PR's on it. But that is just because I haven't established an average on it yet. It is a pretty nice place in that it is blacktop but it is closed by a barricade gate so only people there as runners. Bikers don't really go there much as far as I can tell. It is a 400 foot climb over a mile so it is a shade steeper than my usual repeat hill. I did that one twice. The other one I did where I seen the coyotes was 1000 feet over 2.3 miles. The top is like 11 or 12 percent grade. I got to keep track of my knees when I do that to them.
I ought to put a picture of something.
(nothing to do with today's activity)

Happy 47th on Monday @RangerRickL
Happy 25th a few weeks ago @oldDogBiking
Wishing you both many more happy years of marriage
Yes x3 today. Warmer than usual and the ice is melting, so I walked out on the national park for about an hour, plus a dog walk. Under calories and logged everything.5 -
Exercise? Yeppers. 25 minutes yoga.
Within my calorie goal? Uh-huh. I don't think I will ever understand Fitbit exercise calories. Gave me zero today. Which was fine because I didn't eat much.
I'm debating switching to lightly active in February (without negative adjustments) to try to get a handle on this maintenance thing by evening out my intake some. I'm down over 2 lbs for January, even though, based on my deficit, it should be less. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
Tracked everything? Yeah, that goes well.
Happy Anniversary 🎉 @RangerRickL 47 is cool beans! That's still 14 years away for us.6 -
Congratulations @RangerRickL!
I only had 2 main meals today but I snacked on complex carbs and healthy fats in between.
Yes, x3

Have a successful day tomorrow all!5 -

Many thanks for the kind thoughts for the recent loss of my friend and mentor in the legal world. I am feeling at a loss as we will be unable to attend either calling hours or services given we will be in SE Asia for both. I have written a tribute for the family which I hope will be satisfactory in our absence in expressing the influence Mel had, not only on my life but the lives of everyone he encountered in his personal and professional life.5 -

Thanks for asking about what works in our marriage, Rose and me.
I do not take it for granted that we are best friends after having dated for 2 years and a marriage of 47 years. Some advice that was shared with us has been very important:
1) you need to go out at least once a week on a date with your spouse. Too often dating is confined to premarriage
2) do not go to sleep on your anger. Force yourselves to face your conflict and find a way to work your way back together
3) both of us have to be willing to yield, not be a door mat, but be willing to find a way to respect the opinion and/or wishes of the other.7 -
@oldDogBiking Where were you in that great photo?? Thanks for sharing! Congratulations on your anniversary too.

Today was a pass (#6) I celebrated @RangerRickL and Rose’s anniversary with too much peanut butter!!!
If I was eating back exercise calories I would be fine BUT I need to stick to the rule I made. A day like this (3hrs of exercise with lots of cardio) required more fuel and I had no problem giving myself the extra calories. But if I allow myself to be subjective about calories on a daily basis I would give myself a calorie cushion too often. I’m more focused on my habits and results than making the circle. Lol I get to hang out here with all the circle members even if I’m just in the triangle of healthy habits. That makes me feel like a winner!2 -
Exercise: yes. Excellent day with 2 trips to the gym due to invitation from separate people.
Calories within goal: yes but not the best choices.
Tracked: yes.
RangerRickL: happy anniversary!1
