Any Over-50 Vegans here? :-)

Hi everyone!

I've been away from MFP for awhile and boy it feels GREAT to be back! Like everyone, I've had a lot of changes going on in my life (and body....LOL) over the past couple of years and now I want to start concentrating on getting myself in better shape/health and making myself a top priority.

I was wondering if there are any members in this group who, like me, are over 50? (Sure hope I don't scare away all my young friends here.....you are all very dear to me! :) ) It's just that finding vegan friends in general is tough (as most of you know).....finding vegan friends in my age group seems to be tougher.

Either way though, I'm very pleased to be a part of this Team Vegan group just as is. :)

Feel free to respond here or message me if you wish.

Wishing you all an amazing day!

I'm over 50 and vegetarian for 20 years. Only added eggs to my diet a few years ago. (We have our own lazy hens, so I know they are treated well!)

I just turned 54, and have been eating plant-based for eight years primarily for health reasons. I'm still working on adopting a fully vegan lifestyle.

I am 66 & have been plant-based vegan since Nov 2017 when I had a high blood pressure scare. Blood pressure normal ever since & even though I have some weigh to lose, I feel great, don’t take any pills & have never looked back.

I'm almost 70! (Yikes--not sure how that happened!!) A new vegan--just one month. We feel better already, and are dropping pounds slowly but surely. Looking forward to following along with you all!

If on the path, it’s well worth persevering with the transition to becoming a healthy plant-based vegan. If you are finding it difficult to be completely vegan, increase the vegetables big time & greatly reduce the animal produce to less than 10% of any meal. I.e. have a small amount of fish or whatever more as a garnish than the main part of any meal. Hope this helps

Yes - hello - am new to this so calling myself a Baby Veggie , do occasionally fall off the wagon. Have read that going 100% no meat takes time.
    Nice to meet everyone. 😃😃😃

It does. You get cravings which is only natural. I miss fish and really struggle and even fall off the wagon after two years. I think if you get inspired by lovely vegan food it helps. Make the things you had with meat like chilli. It makes you realise you dont need meat. Also you will save money.
