    Hi Keto Friends,

I'm having my 9-hour spine surgery :# THIS Tuesday, Feb 4, and I'm not sure how present I'm going to be here on MFP and in this Keto group. Actually, I'm not even sure if I can eat a Ketogenic diet post-op or when I can resume it. I cannot exercise (except short walks) for 3 months/ until my bone graph is good to go. No bending, lifting or twisting- pretty much on "house arrest".
I'm hopeful that I can maintain or possibly even lose weight during this transition. I really hope I don't lose my momentum. The accountability here and outpouring of honesty in this group has helped to keep my motivation high. I love reading all of your weekly stats as well as your trials and tribulations- they make me feel at home here.
So if I'm MIA for a while, this is why. I will be back with my new digitally remastered titanium spine! Until then, aloha and keep keto-ing on! <3

I had cervical spine fusion in 2015. Good luck and happy healing! 🙏

Hello. I'm new to Keto and am looking for a way to challenge myself to stay on track. Hope I'm not too late to join this February challenge. I added myself to the spreadsheet. I'm not sure how to even calculate a goal weight for the month at this point. If anyone could offer some guidance there, I'd appreciate it.

January was not my best month. I did lose weight, but my diet was pretty lax the past 2 weeks. I'm back on track for February really trying to get back to my baseline of food choices and not giving in to the chocolates everywhere at work. I want my goal weight by my birthday and it's completely achievable with 5 pounds every month.

I'd just say keep it realistic! No point in setting yourself goals you can't keep, that way failure lies! A lot depends on how long you've been trying to loss weight etc etc but go for a pound a week and hope for the best. 4 pounds down or even less is better than going up. It's always hard to remember it took a while to add the weight and it takes even longer to take it off, unfair but true; in my case at least!

Does anyone have any recommendations for easy/quick food/snacks that are high in protein but low in carbs? Aside from cheese and eggs. I'm coming pretty close to my carb and fat goals each day, but I know I'm not getting enough protein. I'm still working on it, but I'm wondering if someone has already cracked the code for an uncomplicated food that might solve this. Thanks!

Assuming you eat meat and fish then any of those. I always have some cold roast chicken in the fridge or maybe some ham. Also there are some very nice almost zero carb sausages here in the UK at least so a few of those precooked, so you can just grab one. If you are out and wanting something then some stores have protein snack pots with things like king prawns in them. Other people may do other things!

    Highest Weight: 321.0
    Keto Start Weight: 304.5
    Current Weight: 245.8
    February Goal Weight: 239.9

    Sunday. 02/02 245.8 (-0.2)
    Sunday. 02/09 247.4 (+1.6)

??? I am not sure about the cause of this. I tried a couple of new workouts this week, and was pretty sore, so I am going to chalk it up to that, and hope next week this takes care of itself.

Last week was a challenge; Superbowl after I weighed in last Sunday and an award banquet, I attended last night. Both of those events were Non-keto friendly for sure. This week we have Valentine’s Day and the next week I go on a 2-week vacation. So, it is going to be hard to be keto clean for the rest of this month. In fact, I will even be without my trusty scale for the last two weeks of this month.

Hey, if it was easy anyone could do it! Valentine’s Day and vacation are “Good” problems to have.

New to this group! 😁 excited to be part of a community about keto! I look forward having keto as part of my lifestyle. RN our office’s department is hosting the biggest loser contest and I also took part of that hoping that the company I’d be in would be very supportive. Turns out they’re not. LOL they’re in for the money so I guess I should not expect that much 😂 anyway, I look forward to everyone’s progress. Let’s do this! Will be more strict and diligent in my food intake. I kind of fell off ketosis 2x in January 😅 won’t do that again.

Pork rinds, canned seafood (sardines, herring, clams, salmon, oysters with olive oil), homemade jerky and bacon, sometimes pepperoni and salami sticks.
