Third month of 2020 starting and on we go with the Keto way of Life and hopefully weight loss for those that are wanting this.
Welcome to anyone looking at this and wondering if this is for you, just give it a try!
You can post your weight here and also in the Keto Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet which Stormy /Nikki updates.
Feel very welcome to join, we usually post our weigh Sundays and use the 'Keto Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet' also in 'Announcements' to track weight.
We use this thread to encourage each other and to add our weight as well if we want to and generally chat!
It seems to keep us going and even if we go up occasionally (and who doesn't!) we get back to it and continue the journey.

Out last night with friends though I was okay apart from the fizzy so I'm not too surprised at going up a bit and delighted at still being in the 160s (just!!)3 -
The scale has finally started to move but I’m leaving on vacation this morning. I know that I will want some cocktails. I’m hoping to increase my exercise while I’m there to offset an occasional white claw drink or wine. Have a great week.

Hi Everyone! I am new to the boards, but have been on my weight loss journey for a number of years. MFP was a major tool in losing 120# (in 2 years or so). The first 60# was small changes, when I plateaued I started with HCG to achieve goal and the second 60# loss. Since I had not learned nutritional planning along the way, I used HCG to maintain for some time. I also became sick with Lyme Disease and unable to exercise. Working my way back to health and wellness, I am again tracking ADA diet and regular exercise. Due to nutritional allergies and thyroid I have decided to choose KETO to lose the 30# gained and a lifestyle choice to follow my MD recommendations to be gluten free. While researching Keto over the last few weeks, fruit sugar, gluten have been reduced and fat and protein elevated. This week I have slowly introduced MCT oil. March 1st, I am not quite ready for the 800 cal recommended for weight loss, but I am heading in that direction. This turtle will get to the finish line. Happy to be here and get all Keto wit' y'all!0

Please don't go down to 800 calories, that's not part of Keto at all. You need fats, protein and low carbs. It is not either possible or healthy to try to follow a Keto way of life and eat so few calories. The entire diet works on the principles of fat adaption. Please check out some reliable website like the Diet Doctor for more information.

Hi all, need to the m9nthly challenge but need some accountability and support. I’m back on the keto WOE for weight loss. I lost 30lbs 3 years ago with keto but have put it all back on. Tried calorie in, calorie out last fall but made slow progress so I’m back here.

So the new year has not been off to a great start... was having trouble getting motivated but I am taking baby steps again, tracking, staying with in my macro's, drinking water, blogging, checking in, and exercising. All the things that made last year a success and I don't want to blow it. I'm feeling strong heading into March.3 -

ive been struggling with the 3 meals a day and started missing breakfast and now im not wanting my lunch either. I was worried about not losing weight because im only eating dinner. After reading this thread i believe its called intermittent fasting. I cant possible fit the about of fat and calories im supposed to have into one meal.
Will this prevent me from losing weight?
How do others on keto manage to fit everything in, if you do?
I weighed my self last week and tomorrow is weigh day, although i did start the keto the week before but was not brave enough to get on the scales.
Any info or tips will be much appreciated.2 -
It's a natural effect of eating higher fats, you become less hungry. You will loose weight still. I rarely if ever eat breakfast, if you don't count coffee and cream, and I'm not normally hungry until anything after 2pm. It varies but when I feel hungry I eat something, though sometimes like most of us, I just eat something because I want to, rather than feeling hungry!
You are at the getting fat adapted stage, it takes 6 to 8 weeks to become truly fat adapted so that your body is running on Ketones rather than glucose from carbs. Once you are there you mat have to drop the amount of fats you are having as you want your body to run on the fat you have stored rather than the fats you are adding to your diet. That doesn't mean you should go low fat! Just cut down a bit on the amounts you are having.
There are a couple of good sites to check out, The Diet Doctor is great and has very good recipes as well. Also I really like Amy Berger from Tuit Nutrition as she is (IMO) very sensible and also make me laugh sometimes at her turn of phrase! Good luck and welcome! Oh and remember weight loss isn't linear, you may go up a bit, you may stay the same but you will go down!4 -

Thanks for that. I added a coffee with cream this morning and loved it so i feel a bit better by adding that in. Im just not going to worry about getting everything in. It does annoy me though when ive added everything on my food diary for the day and it comes up with the warning that im not eating enough.0 -

My goal for February was to be 79kg, which I got to, however I think I'm starting to plateau as my weight doesn't seem to be moving very much, hovering between 79kg and 80kg. I've previously been averaging about 1kg a week. Some weeks a little more, some a little less. The last 4 weeks have been barely moving.
I can't really complain though, I've already managed to lose 20kg (almost half my goal loss) before hitting the dreaded plateau.
My eating habits have been a bit off, as I've been having higher carbs, but still under 50 total per day. I'll concentrate on eating better, and hopefully this plateau will become a downhill slope again soon.2 -

No worries. Although I've read that what a number of folks do, I am still fact checking. My strategy is to balance the micronutrients 70/20/10 and ease into things, thus avoiding the keto flu. Thanks for the referral to Diet Doctor.0 -

It' is pretty interesting how this happens. I feel my body/emotions changing as I eat foods that I have been avoiding for years - cheese, eggs, beef/pork/dark meat. Those continuous cravings seem to be fading. However, sometimes I want something refreshing or lite. Cucumbers work really well for this. Any other suggestions?2 -
