My NSV is that for the last 8 weeks, I have been hiking in the desert at least 5 days per week. While hiking, I climb up and down ridges and push my heart rate up in a good way. My cardio fitness and my balance seems noticeably improved.
My full time home is in a very flat part of the United States. Regularly hiking in this terrain and with this consistent frequency is a new healthy experience for me.
In addition, I’ve been faithfully doing the stretches that my exercise physiologist taught me and so far I have avoided another lumbar issue.13 -
@RangerRickL
I’m so glad to hear that! You are my hero & inspiration!8 -
NSV DAY!
I am making art every day with joy! I have quieted the self-critical voice!
I’m noticeably stronger. All health stats are awesome!

NSVs
- I celebrated my BD yesterday and was able to say yes times three. I made sure I moved enough during the day to allow for the additional caloric intake. In the past I would have just ate and drank what I wanted and said the heck with it, it's my BD.
- I have gotten rid of all of my not so healthy clothes. During previous attempts I would leave one or two larger things just in case.
- I am not as sluggish as I was just a mere 9 months ago. Last year if I knew something needed to be done near the end of the day I would simply thing, oh, it can wait until tomorrow. My attitude has changed to "just do it" to coin a famous sneaker logo.
I am thankful to have found such a positive and inspirational group. I am looking forward to continuing my journey with all of you.
Hoping everyone has had or is having a great day. I am looking forward to reading everyone's NSVs.9 -
NSVs: The biggest one is that I am hanging on in here.
It's encouraging that the jeans I bought not all that long ago, to replace the ones that were falling down and needed belting very tight, are now getting loose too. They fit OK for an hour or so after washing, but then I have to start hitching them up. The next size down, jeans I used to wear several years ago, don't quite fit yet. I can get into them, but there is a Michelin tyre above the waistband. I am confident they will be a good fit soon!
I've stopped hating exercise. I am positively looking forward to my classes and the swimming pool re-opening and I even go on quite boring walks now, especially now I have found my ancient MP3 Player.
Happy birthday for yesterday @SuziQ113 and well done for the way you celebrated!8 -
Thanks for the topic Rick, and your hikes sound great.
For me today is my one year anniversary on my current diet. I am now down 135 pounds since May 15, 2020 and it sure feels good. My highest weight ever was years ago with many ups and downs, but I have been consistently eating about 1,200 calories a day for the year. Not one day over 1,500. As I lost weight I have learned to exercise and been doing more of it.
If I had to choose a single NSV it would be that I have managed to go a full year without a binge, I am amazed that is even possible for me.
Thanks to all here for your support.
Happy BD Suzi! I have also gotten rid of a lot of clothes along the way, but I did keep one belt as a reminder. Going from a 62 to 36 inch waist makes a lot of difference.
Chikiri, good for you on your weight loss and needing that belt. I also still have one of those Michelins, but it sure has gotten a lot smaller.10 -
YesX 3. Got a great workout day in and was able to do my swim. To be honest, right now I’m pretty focused on that scale. I’ve been very active before the last two mouths and hadn’t lost any weight, didn’t see body transformations like I would have wanted. Doing the work in the kitchen is where things really count for me and seeing all that hard work I’m doing there helps to keep me going.8

Exercised: Yes (3km in 22 mins - hills)
Tracked: Yes
Budget: Yes
Short walk right on dusk. Yesterday I managed 5km in 37 mins.
Sorry to not post yesterday. Started a new anti-depressant yesterday and it is already making me very tired. Taking doses now only immediately before sleep.
NSV. I am still posting. I am still in goal weight range. I am still walking most days.
May not sound like much, but to me they are big victories.
Lately, so much seems like it's trying to make me stop (depression, family situation, COVID situation, work), but the habits UAC built are keeping it all together. Thank you UAC team.11 -

My NSV, is that I am exercising more than I used to, during this COVID-19 and I can see the effect on my strength and mood. Thank you UAC. It has really help me to stay focus on my food and exercises.
I can't wait to come back and read everyone's NSVs,5 -
My nsv is just accepting who I am and being comfortable with the times when I don’t do so well be it eating, slacking on exercise or elbow/knee pain it’s ok to have an “off” day but each day I strive to move forward and take care of myself and my family 😊 enjoy your weekend8

Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes!

Pass Day #2
Technology not working was my tipping point. I just gave up!
My phone is completely non-functional so the Fitbit app that I was relying on so heavily is null and void. If the situation isn't any different tomorrow, I will have to adapt somehow. But for tonight, I just threw in the towel!8 -
Happy Birthday Suzi!!!

Yes x3
NSV is once again my # of pass days. Last month my NSV was having only 1 pass day by this point, and I ended the month in the winner's circle for the first time in several months. This month's NSV is that I have 0 pass days by today! I actually think I've never had a month with 0 pass days by the halfway point. I don't think this will be normal for me (definitely having restaurants closed makes it much easier) but it's a great habit to be in during this shelter-in-place time and hopefully indicative of developing better sustainable habits for the future.
Below is a screenshot I took this morning from my last week of Fitbit calorie data.

Looks like it is NSV day today! When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.
Clothes fit perfectly.
Cutting more calories.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Yes, x3

@readyornot1234 again I’m glad I ran into your post (I did not get any notification, I checked). I keep in mind that change in weight and change in body composition are "not linear" since the body adapts so well! Your plan to adjust (based on your own results) sounds very good to me. “One size or technique does not fit all.” Since you are very close to your target, little adjustments should get you where you want and you will find your own sweet spot. It makes sense to me that you were eating fewer calories during your "easier days" compared to your hard-working days because you had a bigger deficit when you were working harder and you ate back some of your exercise calories for fuel. I find that if I have a huge deficit, it backfires, I am hungrier the next day. As far as the macros, calories are still very important, but when one is trying to "build a strong house", we have to focus on the materials we use to build the foundation (macros)? As far as moods, I adjust my carbs to keep me and my hormones happy and proteins to maintain satiety. Med infusions? I missed that. I do not know too much of what happened but the scale comes to mind here. The scale measures everything. If the lean weight keeps going down for no reason, make sure it is not from bone. I read that bones are part of the lean mass too? My two cents worth. 🤔
Have a successful day tomorrow all!3 -
@SuziQ113 happy belated birthday to you❣️🎂
I got yes x 3 today.
325 minutes between inventory and painting. I’m so over painting! 😵 Today and tomorrow? Trim work, and it’s soooo slow going and underwhelming. Dull white to bright white. Ooooooooh. 🤦🏼♀️
Under calories and logged everything.
NSV’s for me this weeks was that I had/have the stamina to work then come home and paint my @$$ off. 😁6 -
YES to the triple power

Happy birthday Suzi!
Calories- under
Exercise 20 min-yes
Log everything- yes
I'm injured and don't have heavy weights so my fitness goals are a mess right now and slipping away from me, my recovery is taking a long time and I'm down to seated arm cardio, seated and laying down upper body weights, and yoga. It can always be back to being bedridden so I'm trying to be grateful.
One thing I discovered is I'd ordered a pair of flip flops that were too small and narrow and waited too long to return. I was about to donate but tried on as my feet shrunk a size and width with weight loss and they fit now!6 -
Happy Birthday SuziQ113. It sounds like this is the birthday of a new you! Healthy attitude and habits!
Congratulations!

15th May
A pretty good day.
Exercise: Yes, managed an hour's walking
Calories: Yes, stayed under
Tracking: Yes, logged everything.
I'm trying out a very low carb week, to see if I can move my scales. They were yo-yo-ing from 72 to 73 kilos, up and down, now just yo-yo-ing the range of the 72's. I'd like to see a 71 appearing.
Lots of good news on the un-lockdown front.4
