Exercise? Yes Good Lord. I walked about five miles, broken up into three sessions. Had work friends that wanted to walk on break, and then a work friend that wanted to walk on lunch, and then my mom wanted to do a two mile walk. I’m a tired lady!
Budgeted? Yes
Track? Yes
Rings? Yes
Water? Finishing up now, but I’ll get it! It’s been a tough day, need lots of fluid!9 -
exercise - yes
track - yes
budget - yesBeen off the clock for a few days.
Decided for some camping.
Sorry Buddy.
Wife took care of him a couple of times.
I got some trepidation about that.
He is 77 pounds.
That don't sound like much to a body builder.
She ain't a body builder. Me neither.
Heh!
I get kind of full of myself on occasion because I can ride my bike up a big hill.
But can I still change a flat tire?
Now there is a functional ability for you.
I end up having a flat in a land called "thirty miles from cell service"
Otherwise a sublime place.
But on a rocky road my right front went flat.
I managed to turn into a little cut out that went into a meadow.
But front tire, you are not suppose to put that temporary donut tire in front.
So I take off the rear thinking to put the donut there and the rear tire in front.
But I look at that tire and I see thread, actually steel fiber poking through.
That one in front? Bad idea.
So I go to put it back on.
Car starts sliding towards me, leaning the jack way over.
Yikes!
Am I going to need a tow truck?
I take a break for twenty or so to get my composure.
I stick some big flat rocks from a nearby fire ring under the car.
I am this lucky.
The jack has still got some of the weight of the car on it and it can still be lowered a bit.
Yay!
I set the car on those rocks and repostioned the jack.
Salvaged that.
Took the other rear off, put the tempo donut there.
Put that tire in front.
So can I still change a tire?
I had all but one tire off of that car in order to get a plausible solution.
Eveb then I was a but nervous of driving 40 miles to a tire store.
Oh, the spare only had 5 pounds of air in it. I had to pump it up with a bike pump!
Heh! Camping. What is not to like?
I got like 4000 of climb over a few days.
Not really ambitious.
Kind of a nice place though.
Summer resort area kind of.
Except there was a working cattle ranch by there.
I seen cowboys driving cows into a corral.
So yeah, these cowboys somehow distinct from horsemen or equestrians.
I should have took a picture.
The road was a place where I have photographed before.
I took more pictures but they are a bit redundant.
When I had the flat it was Friday afternoon. I figured I couldn't get to a tire store while they were still open.
So I just camped right there where I flatted.
I make it sound like it was a miserable experience but it wasn't really.
Well, on top of it all there were some mosquitoes.
But I am glad my wife wasn't there and that Buddy wasn't there.
I think I would have been over anxious then.
I climbed a mountain called "Lone Cone."
Before that I went on Colorado Trail, one of my secret spurs to it.
Don't know why I figure this stuff as fun.10 -

@oldDogBiking I love your biking stories. They are captivating to read. And what a beautiful place!!
@dsgoingtodoit yes! I completely agree with the sleep. I always track mine, and even have a bed time alarm! It has a huge impact on my mood, energy and choices if I don't sleep enough.
@katiecan2019 what a lovely photo!
@dory42 wow! Firstly to your exercise! Good job! And secondly about the kidney. You are incredibly inspiring!
One thing I have really enjoyed about this group is the snippets into other people's lives. It makes me really happy to read them, and find myself saying things outloud like, 'oh wow!' 'that's cool' 'that sounds fun' 'wow, that really is incredible' 'that is such a good though..'
So thank you all! You help me so much. It is nice to feel connected to other people who are living this life, bettering themselves and the world around them!
Thankyou @RangerRickL!7 -
Thanks for all the messages. So good to discover we have two kidney recipients on this group!6

@hollis100 Thanks. I've been wearing minimalist shoes for the past few years which has been great for my foot and leg strength but since it doesn't have cushion you need to be careful not to heel strike but instead have more of a mid/fore foot gait. I'm thinking it was probably some combination of daily 80 min walks combined with perhaps some heel striking on my part3

@adjvegan You are very welcome and I'm so glad you are an important part of this great team!!
