Very very excited to join the July UAC. June has been great and ive really enjoyed seeing everyone else's posts.
Thanks for being the host @RangerRickL and all your hard work.2 -
This definitely helps me keep on track. So excited to be getting my fitness back after a rough year last year. July is birthday month so I may not make the winners circle with celebrations but I'm back in the routine of eating mostly healthy so I can afford a few extra treats.8

Hello!
Definitely interested in joining this challenge again. This will be my 2nd month!
Thanks everyone! Here is to a good month!4 -

Welcome to you both! Consider yourselves joined for July! Nothing much will seem to happen (apart from Introductions) until July 1, so why not come "practice how the challenge works" by joining the Ultimate Accountability Challenge June 2020 group.
You can see how things are laid out (we report in on a new sub-discussion each day), get to know us from our inputs to the "What's On Your Mind, Today?" thread. Make yourself known to the degree you wish (we range widely from regular conversations to minimalist "3 x yes" entries - both and everything inbetween is fine.5 -
Hi! I've been on the app for a while but have always been spotty with my commitment to it and working out. I wanna get better and I think this is a cool way to do it. I'm totally new to the groups thing on MFP but I'm excited for the extra motivation4

I am happy to find this challenge! See you in July.5

Welcome to the newcomers! If you get out half of what I've got out of this group, you're doing well! I'm a bit of a wobbler, have done this for a while, but used to drop out mostly. I'm on the up and up now though: last month I only went MIA for a few days, then came back and completed the month, this month I stuck it, with only a few Pass Days. Next month I am going for the Winners' Circle. Oh, and, I am losing weight, getting fitter and even getting to enjoy my exercise and having a much better, healthier lifestyle. It works, and the group is super supportive!8

I just pressed the join button! I have been a member of the UAC since January so July will be my 7th month. Each month I post fewer and fewer pass days. Before joining, if I had a day when I went off the rails, that would turn into consecutive days, then weeks, then maybe months. After a few months in this group, if I had a day like that, my mindset started to change and I started to get up the next morning and jump right back on. Now it has changed to the point where if I have a bad moment in the day, I don't let it derail the rest of the day and I get right back on track that day. Who knew that was even possible? I haven't made it to the winner's circle yet but I am consistently losing weight and gaining muscle every month. Everyone's posts are supportive, encouraging and inspirational. This is not a competition -- this is a group of people cheering each other on and celebrating the victories and accomplishments of one another.10

June was my first month of UAC but reading your words i was nodding along. If i had an "off" day it would turn into an "off" week - With UAC i have learnt to reign it in very very quickly and get back on track as soon as possible.4 -
Hello all, I joined MFP May 17/20 and am still exploring around. Happened upon this challenge tonight and am excited to try it. Based on an above comment, I also joined the June challenge to 'get my feet wet & get used to the water' so to speak. Reading through some comments, this challenge might be perfect for me as I am struggling to break some old bad habits and develop some new good habits. Looking forward to July 1, good luck to all!5

Hello everyone . Discovered this challenge this morning and have joined the July UAC . Will now check out how to join in the June one just to get in track and see how it works . I really need support as it gets tougher to reach my goal of 2.2 lbs weight loss a week .2

This is my first challenge. I joined MFP in May and am still learning about this site.4

Hi everyone, I've been part of this challenge since last August. This month I'll need to leave near the end of July for vacation (on vacation I like to just completely relax and not track or log) but I still want to be part of the UAC for the first 3/4 of the month in order to help keep myself on track before leaving on vacation. Thanks for the accountability!3
-
Hi just joined the July challenge. I am so ready for what's ahead.3

Keen and ready. I've been using MFP on and off for 9 years, but fairly new to the community aspect, and happy to have found the UAC for accountability3

Hi! I’m a wife and a SAHM (3 kids). I’ve extreme clutter and no refrigerator. Nonetheless, I’m focusing on health this month because I’m in shock at weighing in at my heaviest, 250 lbs.
I’m joining The UAC (again, after over 5 years away from MFP) bc the challenge seems fun! Not the nitty-gritty of the logging and posting, that’s not fun IMO, but the intended result: establishing a healthy habit!
I get the slightest jolt of joy thinking that on the other end of a couple months of teeny grind I might have an established healthy habit. That’s hope at work!
Thanks for setting up The Challenge!
Thanks for being the host @RangerRickL and all your hard work!5 -
I'm back! Was doing extremely well in maintenance and then I did not handle at all well a series of events starting at the end of 2019 (major home remodel with no kitchen for 2 months, followed by the pandemic that closed my gym, and then the death of my dog.) Result - I have gained nearly 20 pounds back and it is past time to (1) get back on track and (2) really look at the good habits I thought I had established and determine what I need to do to avoid falling back down this hole again!7

Well, erm..hello, I'm Helen. I'm a UAC newbie. Been on MFP for a while, lost almost 50 lbs, then started gaining again. Not happy being on the plus side of the 200lbs mark, know it is because as much as I can do a workout plan, I am sloppy with my nutrition plan. I need to get accountable again.4

Hi All,
Thanks @RangerRickL for this thread and accountability.
I was down to 1.1kg away from my target weight last year, and after a death in the family it has slowly slid up to my starting weight.
I discovered yesterday that I had been seriously underestimating my weekly lockdown take-away, which I hope has accounted for the gain. (thai green curry = 3000 per meal).
So, now that I've figured that out, hopefully tracking and mindfulness can bring me back down to target weight - and hopefully I can stay there. I'm so fed up yo-yo ing.
Good luck everyone6 -
Hi everyone! This is the first time I'm using MFP and first time joining a community challenge like this. I've been on and off diets since forever, but today I'm committed to start a healthier journey, not just dieting but actually re-educating myself to have a better lifestyle. I am very glad to have found a place where I can support and be supported by people that are going through similar journeys.
Super excited to get started and thank you to @RangerRickL for hosting this!5 -
Hello everyone! I have been keeping up with my own tracking goals for the past two weeks, and would love to be part of a group so we can share considerations, tips, and rant a bit whenever needed.
I:m planning to lose a few kg for the next couple of months, and slowly build a solid workout routine. It would be great to see what everyone is doing to reach their health and fitness goals!4 -
Hello! I’m excited to join this challenge! I started gaining weight about 15 years ago during peri-menopause, and managed to gain about 60 lbs over the years. My goal is to lose at least 50, which I’ve been half-heartedly trying to do for years. I love wine and sweets too much. Hoping the accountability factor will get my butt in gear! I’m 51 and my birthday is next month. I need to be the healthiest version of me so I can enjoy my 5 grandchildren for many years.5

Hi all! Welcome to our July challenge, returnees and newcomers.
And a thousand thanks to our leader, @RangerRickL for helping us stay accountable.
I’m Terri from Northern Ireland. Back for my 21st month. Working on improving my fitness and health. Made the Winners Circle 20 times so far.
UAC is a good place for anyone to start the practicing of new habits, in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Through being a member, I have achieved my lowest weight in 4 decades, and have maintained it since late 2019.
Just a few details on my personal journey to health and fitness.
Aim for 2020 ~ maintain < 150 (I may even manage to drop a little more! 😂WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED
I am FOCUSED on heathy food choices and DETERMINED to achieve my goals!
Age: 73; Height 5’2”; Female
SW: 227lbs (Mar 2014)
LW: 147.2 (4 April 2020)
UGW: 145 (this may change when I get there 😂 )
CW: 149.2- For the last 3 years I have tended to bounce up and down between 160 - 170. Occasionally I bounced up/down a little more.
- My ideal situation is to maintain < 150
- I use CI/CO and a variety exercise for extra calories.
- Logic would suggest that I have found a natural comfortable weight, and, according to modern BMI calculation, I am in the upper range of normal for my age and height. However, logic doesn't always dictate our desires and feelings. 😂
- Getting and staying healthy and fit requires the development of a permanent lifestyle reset.
- Replacing unhelpful habits with more useful ones is key to to the process.
- Losing weight is only one of the elements.
- Eating healthy and staying actively is not OPTIONAL, but an ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts on weight which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be several lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a permanent lifestyle change for most people.

Hello! I’m Chelsey in New England, USA. This is my 2nd month in the UAC, and I am so excited to be back and to try to make the Winners Circle. Thank you, @RangerRickL for this group!
My journey:
I joined MFP in 2012, but was only serious about weight loss around 2014. I have gone from 220+ to 164 lbs today, or roughly 60lbs lost.
My goal for July:
I would like to lose at least 3-4lbs this month, and increase yoga in my routine.
My routine:
While my gym is reopened, I am not comfortable yet going back, so I am utilizing pilates, yoga, HIIT, bodyweight and dumbbell strength training to stay active at home. I am also taking long walks with my dog to get moving more during the day.4
