Week 4
PW: 173.4
CW: 172.7
LTD: 45.8
So, my weight has been pretty crazy this week - and on Sunday it was up at around 178lb. A lot of that was due to eating out somewhere with very salty food, but some due to bad food and drink choices gradually increasing over a couple of weeks.
Check-in: Tues 25th Aug
Food: Logged and under calorie goal
Water: About 2l
Exercise: 30min walk and 30min run, 9,749 steps
Yesterday was a very quiet day! Very strange to be working from home and not having the constant interruptions from the kids wanting food, help getting toys out or wanting to play outside. After work I decided to go for a run (inspired by @Cafelelia NSV - how awesome!), managed to run/jog a mile before I slowed to a walk to catch my breath before running again - never thought I could do that!4 -

Weigh in week 4
PW 254.6 (115.4 kg)
CW 253.9 (115.2 kg)
My weight is still staying high after the creatine loading. I've been in a calorie deficit and consistently exercising six days per week with spinning and lifting so I'm not worried. It will drop when it drops.
Meanwhile I fit into my Wonder Woman sports bra again (it was snug when I bought it, then got too small. Now it's almost too big!) and I am making consistent gains in lifting without triggering pain or migraine. I realised yesterday that I almost don't care what my weight is doing, I just want to be able to keep working out, and I want to be strong again. I want my muscles back!
Kristy, I wish I had a Wonder Woman sports bra! Instead, I have this:
If this is the worst he does at your house, count yourself lucky...the invisible man, historically, is one nasty kitten.
Yeah, I saw that movie! He's baaadd!! But got what he deserved at the end!!
Well, in the original HG Wells novel, he's bad. Alan Moore (one sick puppy) did a graphic novel (maybe several) and he was horrific. There have been several films...League of Extrordinary Gentlemen was based on Moore's version, toned down a lot. Have not seen the new film, don't need to: bad man does bad things, maybe died after mob with pitchforks come after him.0 -

Good morning everyone! Had my 2nd PT yesterday. He really worked me hard. Said he is working on strengthening my left side. Makes since.
Tired this morning but getting ready to do morning yoga and short walk with Lula Mae.3 -
Update on Me: Had a bit of an MS episode yesterday, but I think my nerves have calmed down. I'm proud of myself for not succumbing to my stress-eating tendencies, though. I'll probably head over to Cryotherapy later today to see if I can reduce some of the inflammation around my spinal cord, which is probably what caused the flare-up in the first place.Freeglerock wrote: »So, my weight has been pretty crazy this week - and on Sunday it was up at around 178lb. My weight has been the same way all week! I saw a flash of 170 one morning and had to talk myself down and issue a reminder that I had eaten quite a few high-sugar items the previous day. It's crazy how our bodies can be so sensitive to certain types of foods. Seems like you're already back on the right track based on this next section:Freeglerock wrote: »After work I decided to go for a run (inspired by @Cafelelia NSV - how awesome!), managed to run/jog a mile before I slowed to a walk to catch my breath before running again - never thought I could do that!
Running and I are not good friends by any means, so this is infinitely impressive to memelaniedscott wrote: »Have not seen the new film, don't need to: bad man does bad things, maybe died after mob with pitchforks come after him.
Unless they're planning for a sequel of some sorts, which means he did something horrible and then got away... Or if they're trying to appeal to the most recent movie trend, they give him some sympathetic backstory that you can agree with the premise of, just not the methods by which goals are met.2 -

Tuesday check in
It has turned out to be the week of chaos, which is fine, I have embraced it. I was doing a longer fast yesterday, but stopped it a bit early. Still very good though. Water was good, so was eating. The back to school news in the media is changing faster than even I can keep up with. School ventilation is the latest issue and also parent groups are starting to form to help clean and disinfect schools on a volunteer basis. I am such a planner, so this is not easy! I have to run and hope that everybody has a great day!2 -
Check in for the past few days-
Food-keep forgetting to log but I am sticking to my plan and on target with calories
Water-64 oz or more
Exercise-not good. I have been too busy or too tired to exercise I will get back at it hopefully today.
Sorry I am just jumping in quick again. I don't have time to catch up this morning either. I had a rough evening/night. My mother had a change of mental status and was calling her sister and my cousin (they live near her) asking for relatives who have passed 10 or more years ago. Interesting that she didn't call my brothers or me. They reached out to us and we called my Moms nurse. We are hoping it is a UTI which seem to cause confusion in elderly women. Then I got a call at 4 am that she fell. She was sent to the ER and everything checked out ok. However, I feel like I am hung over since I couldn't get back to sleep after that. Taking Daisy to the groomer, doing some food shopping for here in PA and then heading back to the shore. I am hoping to squeeze a swim in between shopping and picking Daisy up but I don't know if that will happen.
Have a great day everyone!

I had a bit of a meltdown with a bag of nuts yesterday! I've been so good at avoiding them - but finally gave in and I am definitely not a handful of nuts kind of person - its the whole container thing. The good thing is that I read this in Consumer Reports today:
Nuts
Research suggests that nuts may be tiny packages of healthy goodness. For example, consider a New England Journal of Medicine study that followed almost 120,000 men and women for 30 years. Study volunteers who ate at least an ounce of nuts (about 23 almonds, 18 cashews, 12 macadamia nuts, or 14 walnut halves) daily had a 20 percent lower risk of dying from several conditions—especially cancer, heart disease, and respiratory problems—during the study period. Even those who downed nuts two to four times per week had a 13 percent lower risk of dying.
Nuts are high in monounsaturated fat, which helps lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol. Studies have also shown that their antioxidants may keep blood vessels supple (hardened arteries are a sign of heart disease) and improve the body’s use of insulin. Nuts have about 160 to 200 calories per ounce, but in the study above, frequent nut eaters weighed less than those who abstained.

@hope002 your form is perfect! Awesome photos 🙂
@Cafelelia Thanks for being an amazing captain, it's a huge time commitment and you are always inspiring. I love that you chased down your boys!
@minstrelofsarcasm thanks for stepping up. You are also very inspiring with everything you do as well as manage MS. I hope you're feeling better now.
@Freeglerock that's the right sort of donut! Getting active with our kids is one amazing bonus of being fitter and healthier. 🙂🙂
@lennoncpa happy (very) belated birthday, I am just now catching up on posts. 🌷
@sleepymom5 I hope you've had some rest, sleep deprivation is the worst.
@tryingagain5 it's nice to see you posting again.3 -

Freeglerock wrote: »@tryingagain5 I reckon we probably do make things harder for ourselves. For example, at the moment I am really struggling to hit play on my workout videos, and I really do not know why! A month back I really looked forward to my evening exercises, and felt so good afterwards. What is stopping me now? No idea. I should just suck it up and do it. I think getting past the procrastination is most of my battle, because once doing it I know its easier to continue. And you are very right, we can do it, and we can do it together! I know that I am better when active on this group - I find everyone, including you, very inspiring and motivational (so I'm very pleased to see you posting again).
I'm at home more and really have no excuses not to exercise either. Just no motivation to do it.
I think part of my problem right now is not sleeping well or enough and working a lot of OT. I think it's time I suck it up, put on my workout clothes when I get up, as if Ibwas going to the gym and just start exercising. I find I do better posting here too and think that's why I do better at the gym because there are other people around and when I'm there I have no excuses not to workout hard.
Thanks for thinking of me as inspiring and motivational! Sure not feeling that way right now.5 -
Well, Michigan's governor has now infuriated every gym owner and member in lower part of the state. She had a press conference yesterday where she was asked about gyms, bowling alleys and movie theaters reopening. Everyone of these places has had safety protocols in place for months and can reopen safely. They've been closed since mid March in the lower part of the state.
She said "she won't be bullied" into reopening these places too early, that she's following the science and data and then when asked about cases being linked to these places that are open in northern lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, (where they've been open since mid June) she said she doesn't have that information. She either can't or won't share that science and data that she has. Mind you gyms are also open in most of the other states.
The casinos have been allowed to open at 15% capacity and strip clubs have also been allowed to open so it's no wonder people in Michigan are frustrated. Not sure what she has against gyms, where people go to get and stay healthy.
If these places don't open soon there will no longer be any left because they will all be out of business.
Sorry for my rant but I am past being frustrated with this. I can't even imagine what the owners of these places are thinking and experiencing.
If you've read this far, thanks for letting me rant and be frustrated here.6 -
My grandmother’s burial was today and we’ve been spending time leading up to it and now together. I’ll be back with you all tomorrow.

Check-in: Wed 26th Aug
Food: Logged and on plan
Water: About 2l
Exercise: 50min walk, 25min bodyweight training, 10min yoga (8,349 steps)
Must admit I'm just not feeling it at the moment. The enthusiasm to make the healthy choices and get my body moving is just not there, which makes it all the more difficult to do. The exercises I did yesterday I turned off before the end. Think some of it may be down to having an empty home - I am an inherently lazy person, so not having people around me means I can wallow in my laziness! Partner and kids due back tonight though....
Did make a trip to the allotment yesterday. We have had some really strong winds over the last few days and my climbing bean frame has been blown over :-( tried to push it back up but many of the bean poles snapped so think that is the end of my French and runner beans for this year.
@1theresamcvean so sorry for you loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. xx4 -
Dear team, it is with sadness that I am leaving this group. I have deeply appreciated all the love and support that I have received over the last 2 years. With the support of this group I have reached my goal weight when I hit 60 pounds lost last July. This last year of maintenance has been very rewarding with ups and downs as I find a balance and harmony in my life.
I have been asked to leave this group as it has been decided that the details of my detox cleanses were not compatible with the guidelines of the fat to fit forum. I have felt sadness, confusion and some shame in there. But most of all tremendous gratitude to have been a part of this loving group. I have learned a lot and been able to reach the highest level of health that I have ever experienced. I wish you all luck on your journey and want to say thank you. I honor life and doors that close as I watch for new doors to open.
Blessings to each of you,
Angelina6 -
Because I somehow messed up the quote feature...
Angelina said, "I have been asked to leave this group as it has been decided that the details of my detox cleanses were not compatible with the guidelines of the fat to fit forum. I have felt sadness, confusion and some shame in there."
I am both sad and confused to hear this as well. I looked around for guidelines that prohibit cleanse talk. Couldn't find any. Cleanses are not in keeping with what I would ever do or what I consider healthy but hearing your stories and seeing your wonderful photos has been interesting and fun. And they've given me some ideas for when my husband has to do liquids only for a colonoscopy soon. I'll certainly miss you (post on your wall!) here.
I thought the point was support of everyone's journey. Everyone's journey is different. What works for me doesn't work for everyone. I think that is true everywhere.4 -

Feeling much better now, thank you Here's hoping it lasts.
@tryingagain5 -
Opening up gyms right now is a bit of a Pandora's Box situation. On one hand, you're supporting the business and promoting healthier habits. But on the other, Covid-19 spreads rapidly in humid environments through liquid particles. With all of the sweating and heavy breathing in gyms, there's a lot of precautions that have to be taken in order to reduce the likelihood of spreading anything. I suppose I can see both sides. But that's coming from someone who's living in Ohio with access to a gym with a heavy duty air filtration system. If you want to move, Cleveland is pretty this time of year
Is your governor up for reelection? Because that may also be a factor in her behavior.
@1theresamcvean -
Sending all of my sympathies your way, and wishing you and your family lots of love right now. So sorry for your loss.
@Freeglerock -
I've found that it's a true measure of character, the decisions we make when we're not "feeling it". That's when all the little choices come to play and affect our entire day. Even starting your workout is a million times better than never starting - it was just shorter than you originally thought, that's all. So sorry to hear about your beans! (Never thought I would write that sentence before)4 -

August Week Four
Weigh In Day: Thursdays
PW (Previous Weight): 166.4 (August 20th)
CW (Current Weight): 166.2 (August 27th)
LTD (Loss to Date): 67.8 lbs
A loss? During my birthday week?? What is this sorcery? I must have been doing something righter than I thought.
Food: Haven't been logging my dinners (or after dinner snacks) most days, so I have no idea how close to being "on track" I was.
Exercise: 17 miles walked, 7 spin classes taken, 3 minutes of planks - I have to get back on top of my plank challenge. One plank a week is not what I had in mind when I started out on the challenge.
Next Week: My birthday is tomorrow - I've decided to take the day off of work and treat myself all day (spin class, coffee date, manicure, lunch, massage... maybe a milkshake). I have my audition for becoming a spin instructor on Saturday, so I can't overdo it on Friday, which is probably for the best. I'll get feedback on Wednesday, according to the owner of the studio, so I should know how it went by the time I write my next weekly review on here.
Currently have four spin classes booked for the week. I'm sure that number will increase. Because of who I am as a person. Although I think my goal for this next week is to explore all the different ways to recover from workouts. Cryotherapy is good, but pricey. Drinking a lot of water and consuming plenty of electrolytes is already in my repertoire... perhaps I need to foam roll more often. Regardless, there's always more science out there when it comes to getting healthier without injuring yourself. I do love doing research.5 -

@minstrelofsarcasm
I do understand the dilemma about opening gyms. The whole issue is that they have been open in upper Michigan and not lower Michigan. They were supposed to open in lower Michigan at the end of June but the governor got a last minute ruling by a judge to keep them closed. By last minute I mean 3 hours before they were supposed to be open.
If it was as big of a problem as the governor is claiming the gyms in northern Michigan would also be closed, not just the ones in lower Michigan. Not sure what her issue is with gyms.
Many of her executive orders haven't made sense which is why everyone is incredibly frustrated.
I'm glad you have access to a gym. I do like Michigan so probably won't be moving to Cleveland or anywhere else soon but thanks for the offer.
No, I don't believe the governor is up for reelection yet but I'm not sure. I know she was hoping to become Joe Biden's running mate.
I just don't want to see all these businesses close permanently, not just the gyms but the others that have been closed for almost 5 months. Things were supposed to shut down for a few weeks to "flatten the curve" and that has been done.
Thanks for letting me post my frustrated rant again.4 -
We were told at work last night that the OT cap has been removed and if we want to we can work 12 hours every day, 6 days a week.
72 hours in one week is a lot of hours. It would be great on the paycheck but not so much on the body. Our pay would be 40 hours at regular pay, 20 hours at our OT rate and 12 hours at double time.
I asked several coworkers if they were going to do it and most of the answers I got were "heck, no". I'm not planning on doing that either. I'm tired with my 12 hours of OT, I can't imagine working 72 hours in one week.

Thursday weigh in
Week 4
PW 159.1
CW 160
I stayed at 159 for almost a week, what happened today? Not sure, probably extra fluids.
I am happy to be that close to the 150s finally.
Saturday is our anniversary, 50 years!!!, we are going out to dinner with our kids. I had been hoping to plan a big party with more family and friends but first I was diagnosed with cancer in the liver and then a day or two later the coronavirus shut every thing down. So much for a big celebration. My Mom wanted to be here for this and for my grandson's high school graduation in June (she lives in MA, we're in NC) and is very disappointed. A small celebration with family is good too.
Not sure if I gave an update on my treatment, I had the second dose of keytruda last week. My eyes swelled up but less than the first time and it lasted only 2-3 days. But the itch is much worse. I am still taking Benadryl 4 or 5 times a day. I am glad the regimen for this is every three weeks, and takes only 30 minutes for the infusion.2 -
@1theresamcvean sorry for your loss
@Mrsbell8well sorry to see you go
@tryingagain5 our gyms in NH have just recently opened, we have to wear a mask going in and get our temps taken at the door. they have signs everywhere saying to wipe down the equipment but they have always had those and people never did before the pandemic so i dont trust them to do it now. i just go for the classes. they have tape on the floor and say 43 people can come to class but thank goodness not that many people show up. Only about 10 tops. i also went bowling 2 weeks ago and they had every other lane open which was great. and you had to wear a mask until you got to your lane. it was a lot of fun.
i forgot to weigh in this morning i was running late, we are getting back into our regular work hours and those 15 minutes make a difference bright and early in the morning. i have to get back into a routine so i am not stressed in the morning and stick with it. i was looking at myself in the mirror at zumba the other day and did not like what i was looking at. so i really need to make the changes or the scale is just going to keep moving in the wrong direction. not sure what it will say this week because of tom, hoping it won't be that bad.2 -
@tryingagain5
I understand your frustration about the gyms. Here in NC the governor has decided at the last minute each month to keep the gyms and bars closed. The operators are upset because they have tried hard to meet all the requirements of space and cleanings etc. and other places are allowed to open with precautions in place. A lot of the gyms will be closing for good if not allowed to open soon. But is it really safe? I don't go to a gym myself so not sure. I did go to water aerobics at a city owned indoor pool for several years and I miss it. I have not tried to go back since March and starting chemo in April.1 -
FWIW, I live in Missouri and my gym has been open since mid May. I have been playing racquetball since mid May, and to my knowledge there has not been any COVID related cases at this gym or any others in town.2
