Syd, how adorable! Hoping you will be able to snuggle with them SOON!0

So cute! Been lucky to get one no drinking day each week. I decided beer and popcorn on Sunday is a beloved ritual;)
Simple things...
Also celebrated paying of my student loan, woo hoo!

Way to go Amy! Beloved rituals are what keep us motivated! Also congrats on paying off your student loan, no small feat in this economy...0

Syd - Awwwwww, adorable! And back to the question about the grandbaby - it's complicated! My daughter had a baby 6 years ago but was only 21 at the time, not established in a job or relationship so she went the route of adoption. Her and the adoptive parents chose to have an open adoption, meaning we still get to see Mackenzie on a semi-regular basis. Her parents are fabulous people and Alyssa couldn't possibly have chosen better. Additionally, my step-daughter is engaged to a man that has a 6 year old daughter that we see fairly regularly, so like I said - complicated!
Amy - Congrats on paying off the student loan!! WooHoo!!
Stay safe lushes!0 -
What a wonderful, modern family you have! Let your daughter know that my niece's birthing experience was smooth...she and her husband had to wear masks the entire time but they said it wasn't bothersome at all. Hospitals seem to have all the safeguards in place and everything went smoothly. How's she feeling? Any gender reveal?
August has brought thunderstorms and humidity to the desert so with temps at 110 it's pretty unbearable. Our pool is no longer refreshing so we're pretty much housebound. We're ready for fall.
Trying to keep up with indoor workouts. Could be doing better but so far the weight has not changed.
Hope you're all doing well!

Syd - That is good to know about your niece, I will definitely pass that along. Alyssa's fiancee is only allowed to attend one doctor's appt with her due to the whole Covid thing, so he is going next Friday which is when they will find out the sex of the baby. That night we will be going to her house along with Ryan's parents to find out the gender

So, boy or girl?
Not sure if you've heard but California (Oregon and Washington too) is on fire. One of the fires near us was started by a gender reveal baby shower. The colored explosion ignited the very dry grass. Very sad.
Hope you're safe, Gary. Amy, the bay area air has been horrific. Hope all's ok with you. Our air quality improved yesterday thanks to a shift in the winds but it's been bad. Good news is we had our temps go below 100 for the 1st time since June 29th. I did it...I survived my 1st summer in the desert!!!

Those fires are crazy! I can't believe how bad they have been this year - been thinking about you guys over there on the west coast - stay safe!! Scary stuff!!
And it's a...
Yay! Girl!!
Very excited (our gender reveal was very safe, no pyrotechnics here! and social distancing too! :) )

Yay! Congrats0

GratsAnn! Air quality here very unhealthy. A few days ago Portland had the worst quality in the world. In fact it was off the scale. There is some hope it will be better by the weekend. Headaches, and a general feeling of "not well". The whole west coast is under a veil of smoke.
Great pictures Ann and Sydney!0 -
Sometimes the news is unbearably depressing.
Then your son visits and your heart is full again

What a great picture of you and your son Syd!0

Awww...cuties! Always good to see the younguns!0

Yay! Girls are the best
The air was bad and when you can't go out and or open a window it makes you a little crazy. Luckily air has been better here in SF but I understand that new fires are burning in Napa/Sonoma so the air quality will probably get bad again. Hope everything is ok, hoping to get up there with friends in November.
Work has been stressing me out, I have not been working out or logging many 0s.
I keep thinking it will get better but it's been week after week not better. Pandemic, fires...
I feel like I should be glad to have a job but it's hard to not know when things will be normal again. Sometimes drinking is all there is...

I feel the same Amy. We had bad smoke here in Washington State. Combine that with the stress of the pandemic and ailing parents, and we can't seem to find time to let our guard down and relax. We just heard last night that our son has been laid off from his job and a mechanical engineer. He works in the aerospace industry and with the slowdown in the airline industry, it makes it hard to keep a job. So now we need to come up with a plan to keep him and his wife afloat until he can find employment. 2020 has been a real SUCK of a year. As always my to you all.

F-U-2020, seriously! I am sorry you have all of that to deal with Ryz, that's terrible
I logged a couple of 0s because I think I had food poisoning or stomach bug, finally feeling good today. Husband's bday is tomorrow and we plan to go to a hotel in Monterey and he can golf (at Bayonet-Black Horse, not Pebble Beach, haha). Hoping the air quality isn't bad down there when we get there, but you never know...0 -
Ugh, Gary! Im so sorry about your son. The husband was in aerospace as well and while he was laid off last year, most of the remaining employees are now also being laid off or furloughed. What a mess. So stressful for everyone.
Enjoy your getaway Amy! I love Monterey. Such a beautiful area.0 -
Hey all! I am trying to catch up on what you guys have been doing! What a sh&t year it's been. Thought I'd pop over and say hello. I am trying to get back to tracking my calories again. Life has been pretty quiet - thankfully -- everyone just surviving and hoping 2021 is a better year. I quit drinking completely 156 days ago. It's weird. Weird in that I have no desire to ever drink again. I've lost some weight, but nothing drastic. Overall the biggest benefit for me has been that I sleep so much better and love waking up fresh and ready to face the day.
Sending big hugs to all of you and hope that you are having more sunnier days than not with all this craziness of COVID, fires, layoffs and all the other crap 2020 has thrown at us.1 -
Hi Gwen!! Good to hear from you. Congrats on stopping drinking! You'll always be a member of the lush group, whether you're drinking or not. So please keep us posted on how you're doing!1
