I'm checking in to let GOADies know that Mark Douches (long-time GOADie from the days of the WW boards) tested positive for COVID about a week ago. He's in ICU at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. His oxygen levels are very low so he's on high-flow oxygen (no ventilator yet) and IV antibiotics since he's also dehydrated. He's going to be started on a study drug and they're hoping it's the right one.

Please keep Mark and his family in your thoughts.

    Pete texted with Mark's wife. Here's today's update ...

    All, just heard from Mark Douches’ wife, Maryellen. He was put on a respirator last night with the hopes it’s for a short duration. He and his doctor spoke to Maryellen before the procedure.

    So sorry, the news is not good. Mark passed into His Saviors arms today. Pete posted this on Mark's fb page ..

    My dear friend I will always remember you in my thoughts and prayers.
    Give our Lord a hug for me and ask Him to pour His graces upon my poor soul.
    I will also pray for your wife and son and family’s comfort in the days ahead.

    He joined shortly after I did.

    What a shame. I am sorry to hear this, and condolences to his family and those who knew him. I remember that unique avatar picture he had at the beginning of his joining GOAD. It was so unusual and I am still not sure what to make of it!

    RIP Mark. I will miss you so much and I'm so glad that we had the opportunity to meet for dinner a couple of times when your work brought you to NC.

    I remember Mark's avatar as well. Crazy. I also remember how much he wanted to lose weight so that he'd be considered for main roles in local stage productions. He was involved in staging/sets and had had small roles, but he felt the weight was holding him back from getting bigger roles. I remember how proud he was when he lost the weight then scored a role he wanted. And how happy the GOAD board was for him.

    Very sad to hear this. I liked him a lot, and missed him when he did a Charlie and disappeared. (Disappearing in a “Charlie” is like a huff, but without the snit or pique. Nowadays, people call it ghosting.)
