Hello everyone!
My immediate goals are:
1. To do some stretching again.
2. To be able to get up and down off the floor again so I can do more stretching exercises.
3. To stop eating in the wee hours.
4. To go to bed at a regular time each night so I can stop eating in the wee hours.
5. To do practical tasks for my "if you don't use it, you lose it" lifestyle changes. For example,
lifting my inside leg up and over and inside the car door on each side 10 times each side to
start; getting up and down from the floor 5 times after my knees recover from these shots;
and walking frequently for short distances and build on it.
6. To decorate my house for Christmas.
7. To put away/organize my decorations after the holiday is over. We moved to a new house
last year and I still can't figure out where I want to put things.
8. To understand how this group works and follow it.5 -
Hope you all are having a happy healthy day! 😁6

Dec 3 Gratitude List
- @MaltedTea for the concept of "eat the frog" (asking her to repeat it for those who weren't here last month .... somewhat like applying "eat the worst first" to activities and priority-ranking of work tasks that HAVE to get done)
- good general health / functional mobility as a base to move forward from (allow for / modify for being a beginner, but but not needing to work around injury / illness / chronic physical conditions at this time)
- that I am finding almost no internal resistance to my new plan of how to use my "between alarm and commute-up-the-stairs" time to include an easy-win to start every work day (my 7 minute Pilates balance&flexibility youtube) followed by playing "Go For The Green" (entering anticipated meals for the day - details adjusted and snacks added later) while enjoying my breakfast and coffee, and reading the UAC posts. I started last Tuesday, and have done the routine every work-day since.

@BMcC9 @MaltedTea
OMG “eat the frog” is something my boss at the library and I say to each other all of the time, I believe it’s a Mark Twain quote.
We use it address the things we procrastinate. But it definitely works for so many aspects in life. I’m glad it’s a concept that has worked it’s way into UAC.
Lol I might have to adjust to saying “eat the frog, it has zero calories”2 -
Good morning @BMcC9, @lalabank, and all. Glad to hear that the concept is helpful to you. While I posted this in last month's thread...*snip*
"eating the frog" is a term for time management. You commit to doing your most important and most difficult task first. For me, that's my workouts lol
It is mostly used in a business context. Example here in Brian Tracy's article which covers procrastination and such.
...@RangerRickL found a great graphic (along with another of a drunk Kermit the Frog) 🤪:

I would like for 2020 to be over already.
The week before Thanksgiving started major chaos with my abusive ex. Then sadly, there was a death on his side of the family. Then 3 days before Thanksgiving, there was a death on my side of the family. So I just didn't have it in me to keep up with MFP for the rest of November. Sorry for dropping out on my postings. I wanted to explain my absence, since this an accountability group. Things are getting better and honestly, time is what is needed to heal all the hurt.
My December Goals: I want to stay active in posting for December, work on my healthy goals, and just keep moving forward in making a better life for me and my son. Here is to a better December!7 -
@KCJen - I am so sorry to hear all you have been going through. My thoughts are with you and here here to a better December.3

Gratitude List Dec 4
- it's FRIDAY!
- today, plus two work-weeks from today ... i START MY STAYCATION BREAK!! (can you tell how much I need this?)
- I have a back-up fitbit Zip if DH doesn't find my fitbit One soon after he gets up (he sleeps later than I do, as i work from home and he is retired ... but he is great at finding things I misplace)
you know you are "habit-hooked" on a gadget when "you KNOW it's going to be a bad day" just because the doodad isn't in your pocket where it is supposed to be ... and you start frantically searching for it ....and you just Can't FIND it!!4 -

What's your favorite podcast to listen to while you exercise? I'm looking for a podcast for motivation and entertainment while I walk. Any suggestions?0

Daily Gratitude Dec 8
- 10 calendar-days till i start my Holly Daze break
- direct-report manager specifically instructed me to ease my over-stressing on perceived deadlines where the input needed to get it off my desk is outside my control
- the stationary recumbent bike in the basement (I spontaneously used it while watching some Pilates info-vlogs this morning)
4 -
I am making a commitment starting tonight (after work) to stationary bike-time. During my 3-calendar-weeks StayCay starting next Friday evening, I will probably also commit to more steps in my day ... since it will become possible (temporarily) to get out the front door in daylight hours. And while I am doing that, I will be researching / planning strategies to break up my off-site Desk-Sitting sessions some how.
My biggest historical challenge for maintaining a bike-habit (as the "default scenery" is a rather messy basement) is visual boredom. Fortunately, there is a television set with a set-top box within the eyeline. (it can't do the web, but can do cds, dvds, Netflix and Youtube ..... but I can't quite get the hang of going only part-way through a longer youtube video to continue where I left off via the buttons on the controler (I don't have a "smart phone" to swipe around with)
I NOW also have a tablet that CAN hook to the web, so if anyone has podcast / vlog suggestions to help keep the brain engaged while the legs do their thing, I'd appreciate the link(s). I can probably do the youtube thing on there too (smaller than the tv, but not so "stupid-small-for-old-eyes" as "watching a movie on your phone"
At one point i did a lot of "biking all over the world" (1st-person visual treadmill workouts on youtube) so that I would have different scenery "unrolling in front of me" but I think I need the "thinking / idea-generating" part of my brain more engaged at this point.5 -
Gratitude List Dec 11
Thoughts from taking BiL to hospital for MRI-test yesterday- OHIP (provincial health insurance plan) covers MRI and CT-scan testing
- His was the first appointment of the day, so no traffic to get to the hospital in jig time - home again by 8:00 am
- Tim Hortons NEAR the hospital was open by 6:00 am as a place for DH and I to wait till he was done
- Work lets me book up to a certain number of hours paid "family related leave" throughout the year for this kind of thing. (Took time for breakfast then started work at 9:30 - didn't need as to use up as much leave as I first thought i might)
- a boss who will let me dip into my ridiculously high unused "personal sick-day" total available hours if I run out of "family related leave" hours before end of fiscal.

Gratitude list for Dec 12
- It's Saturday, so I got to sleep in
- The exercise bike in the basement (~ 275 calories burned in 30 minutes)
- Bulk Barn hasn't run out of spiced eggnog flavoured coffee beans yet .... (was able to get a second batch of them yesterday)
3 -
-
@BMcC9 I've habituated myself to your gratitude lists. As we say in French, "Qu'est ce qu'il se passe?" What's up? No stress to add but I'm curious and sending hugs 🤗
Also, your last post reminded me to go to Bulk Barn yesterday to get candy canes for my tree so that I can finally decorate it!1 -
I still hve visitors sleeping over but im committed to getting back to healthy eating as yest was way too much over eating. I find wen i go over people's place i hve much more discipline but wen hosting ppl at my house i always over eat (esp at dinner time) not sure if perhaps the stress of it all that makes me over eat? Or wanting to bond over food??? but either way there is def a pattern there. Hopefully i can overcome it today! Hve a great day my friends! Its a rainy muggy day here in NSW Australia. Xo1
