Question about Posting regularly vs. Posting Daily.
"Just a question. If members do not post in each day but are still holding themselves to the 3 requirements is that ok? I had a friend tell me trying to remember to post each day was stressing them out. I thought it did not matter as long as you kept track and posted when you could."
RangerRickL answers:
Dear UAC Team,
Please relax. Since you are your own scorekeeper, I don't see how you can track your intake/output without TRACKING daily.
As far as posting daily, you are your own boss, not me.
Here is UAC FAQ 12 and 13,
" What is the end goal of this challenge?
The end goal of the challenge is to adhere to your diet and exercise plan for a month. By having to come here every day and say, in front of the group, "yes, I was active today, and, yes, I'm aware of what I ate today," you ensure (1) that you will have to focus on what you're putting into your body and the exercise you're feeding it all month long, and (2) that you will have an friendly audience to which you choose to be accountable
13. Who is keeping track of your daily success?
Answer: You"

Since you are re-addressing that question from yesterday, I thought I would move my latest response to here, Day 7. I responded that I understood that one had to report every third day, but was then corrected. This morning, not sure what I was doing, but I came across what had put that idea in my mind. So now I am very confused:
4. CHECK IN.
Post in the "Sign-in" threads of this forum at least once every three days (preferably daily) to let the moderator know that you're still doing the challenge and that you haven't slipped up. Even if you are checking in only every three days, you still have to account for ALL days during the month. SIGN-INS ARE LISTED UNDER THE DISCUSSION SECTION - click on "All Discussions" if you don't see the current sign-in date displayed on the list. They're all there!4 -

@donna25trinity Would it help to give yourself a weekly goal in addition to (or instead of) a daily goal? I track and aim for a deficit daily, but I also look at my average daily deficit each week. Even when you go slightly over one day, your weekly number can still be good.3

Yip, I’ve used this as well. It helps me too.3 -
My opinion regarding the discussion going on about the rules, is that while there are rules to help people with what is required for this challenge, there is also the spirit of the challenge. The three basic requirements are needed for all but maximum three days of the month for you to reach winners circle, and you need to be a regular up to months end to be a champion. These are the non negotiable aspects that keep the challenge going. Other aspects are more flexible. There have been people who for whatever reason updated less often than 3 days, but that didn’t exclude them. The 3 day concept is to help people be consistent but if that is a challenge for some reason and they update less frequently they won’t be kicked out (I’ve never seen anyone get kicked out of this challenge).4

Awesome day for me. Things just went well all round. Got my end of January goal for pushups when I did three. Tried a tough yoga class that I had been unable to do last year and completed it. Succeeded in some things at Jiu Jitsu class that I’ve been struggling with for ages. Reasonable food choices which were all logged and under budget. Oh yeah and did some meal prep so good around late evening training is easier. And went on a second date. Going well there.6

thanks for the discussion today @SModa61 . I am pretty sure my friend already left. Sometimes when you are trying to lose I know that you need to go within yourself and focus so hopefully once her stressors are gone she will return. I love the people here and the variety and the stories. For instance I follow Lesley over in the maintainers forum and knew her son had the brain tumor but it was only here I saw an update. Hugs from Tx my friend!
@Dory_42 wow it sounds like things just are clicking for you! Now don't throw it all away for a...... boy... (I keep thinking about a song) but dating sounds like fun. OK. Not really. snort.

I was really happy today that I was able to do the push-ups in pilates, as well as seeing improvements in some of the variation planks. Going to ease up tomorrow and probably only do yoga because I have Pelofundo this weekend.5 -

Exercise: no
Tracking: yes
Calories: no
@donna25trinity I was struggling with this really badly which is why my aim for January is just to track and not worry about exceeding my pass days. I've found that even on days that I go over now it's not by very much as I don't have that 'might as well go all out' mentality any more. I appreciate that this may not fit your goals though, so I would also second the advice to look at your weekly average rather than each day in isolation 🙂5 -
Exercise: yes, bike ride 40 minutes, cardio 40+ minutes
Calories: yes

Exercise? Yes, I walked for 40 mins. My nee sports bras arrived today but they are too small so i cant get back to running yet 😪
I logged all my food and was under my calories. I'm also down 2.5lbs in the last week so it's been a good start to the year.
0 pass days used.5 -
Exercise: Yes. Running 40 min. I was going to bail on this one since I normally only exercise in the morning. I was busy with work and had to force myself out the door at noon, difficult since my caffeine kick was not in my system, but I did it.
Calories: Yes. Everything gets logged as I eat it. I am snacking less because it's work to log it.
Tracking: Yes.
Kitchen closing early, and for the rest of the night it's fizzy water and early to bed. New house rules.4 -
So glad it is Friday tomorrow! Week one of being back working and homeschooling is doing my head in a bit. And now that it’s winter, I have to try and find time during working hours to take the kids out to get us all some exercise. Sunset today was 16:11 so going out after work is a bit bleak! But on a positive note, I’m doing less of a teacher role this time around. 😅
Food wise I’m really pleased with myself for logging dinner at lunch time and realising I had to make a couple of changes to stay on track.
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes - 20 mins exercise bike and a 20 walk with my son

I just! about made it! Whithin the calories, but at the border line. This inspite of a 40 min HIIT and a 45 min walk. But! I did not have a glass of wine from that 🍾 we opened the other night. Had water with Mg instead 😀.5 -
Yes, yes, and yes. Plus, so very grateful that my mum's eye appt went well today. I also protected my peace by declining every academic and media offer to comment on the hood terrorism we witnessed yesterday. Going to enjoy some red wine and the new tunes from Tank, a soul singer. Onwards5

3️⃣ Pass Days leftdonna25trinity wrote: »Im finding with my passes once i know ive went over my calorie limit i hve the ah well im going to make it worth it mentality and then overeat. Interested to hear how others manage this??? Perhaps i may be better off to set a goal to use none of my passes??
What I do is to prelog my food for the day, then make sure I have plenty of exercise calories to cover last minute indulgences.
The idea of UAC is that you are trying to create better habits, and be accountable for your actions.
It’s all a matter of choice for me.
I ask myself these questions:
1. What real benefit do I gain if I throw the whole day away by choosing to continuing to overeat on that day?
2. Who suffers?

@Dory_42 and @SModa61
I am the moderator of the UAC group.
My personal goal for me and for those who participate is to help replace bad habits with good habits.
That is the only real goal of the UAC.
Since I am not doing an Excel spreadsheet on anyone nor anything, each UAC team member is encouraged to follow the guidelines of the Challenge.
@Dory_42 is right, no one has ever been kicked out by me.
I'm delighted that so many people have been benefited from following what are intentionally simple and reasonable guidelines.
