Every month at this time, I begin to think about the next month of the UAC. We are in the home stretch for January and the February link is below.

Please travel with the UAC team into February of 2021

I finished Atomic Habits today.
One point I really liked was,
“Standardise before you optimise.
You cannot improve a habit that does not exist.“
Great job to everyone who is continuing the challenge regardless of their number of pass days!
@RangerRickL I look forward to returning for a second round of UAC in February.
Complementing long-term weight goals with a monthly consistency challenge has provided me with the element of controllability I have been looking for.
On this topic, the overview of common weight fluctuation patterns in the video below also helped with patience.
Coupled with the community aspect of the group, this has helped me pursue my goals ~relatively~ effortlessly these past weeks.

One challenge that I am doing is called "Run the Year" which means you get 2021 miles for the year (walking and running). I have a team of 5 also and it's crazy how much mileage we have built up already in January. I really like the team approach - as we are all across the country and when one of us has horrid weather usually the rest do not.
Since last year my goal was 1700 running miles I think it's a bit of a stretch to think I will be able to run 2021 miles in total. But if I think about it, that is just 1 extra per day or less right? HUGE challenges are so much easier when you break them down.
@Ja_kl I really love that 'screw the scale' vid. It describes my journey to a tee..... LOL.

@Ja_Kl
I am impressed that you finished the book. I am starting chapter 4. Yay!
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. Much of what he covered are concepts that I learned bit by bit over my years as a WW member, but more-so during my 12 years as WW staff. As a receptionist, one had to learn how to help the members through the difficult times and how to help them with focus and their goals. What was knew information for me was the explanation of how stress can impact weight, and more specifically how under eating creates stress that can confound results. Over the years, I knew to instruct member to eat more if lack of weight loss was accompanied by under eating. It was always a nerve racking instruction, but I cannot remember getting any bad feedback but I do remember the many many thanks. Nice to finally know the "why".
In the video, he did miss TOM, but I guess that is a "duh". But he did miss medications and even ones that we think of as benign like advil. Take a bunch of advil, you might see a gain the next day.
I will also add that he has indirectly explained why I personally weigh daily. For me it is data. With that, over time I recognize and can pretty well predict the cause and effect of my behavior changes like changes in salt, carb, exercise, advil, digestion, and such. I find that understanding very helpful when it comes to the aberrations that can occur in one's weight.
Lastly, and this relates to the UAC, is this all is a key reason for tracking and tracking accurately. When the scale does a jig-jog, you can examine the diary data and if the numbers all make sense, then continue to trust the process and the scale should eventually reflect the data.
Just my thoughts! Have a good day all!9 -
Pass day number 2 for me. Tracked, exercised and was looking good until dinner time, but fell down when we went to my sisters place for dinner for the first time since she moved to the area (she is in our “bubble” so per our lockdown rules she is the only person we are permitted to socialise with indoors). She cooked us a lovely meal, with lots of nibbles to start with, and strudel for dessert. It was all vegan and very healthy but...so hard to track. I decided early on to relax and take a pass day. Feeling quite full now.6

Yes x 3 for Saturday and Sunday. Gonna prelog for Sunday and stay on track. I got rained out for tennis yesterday but still decided to go for a jog, which is totally out of the ordinary for me. Also took an hour and a half dog walk today.7

Exercise: yes, cardio 25 minutes plus walking in the snow.
Tracking: yes
Calories: yes
Woke up this morning to a good cover of snow. The family went off to enjoy the hills with friends while I did some indoor cardio and tidied up. The snow was virtually all gone by early afternoon when I drove home. Saying goodbye to my son was hard - very emotional for both of us. We went on two good long walks while I was there but we walked slowly and stopped to take in the views. He struggles to keep up with his 4 year-old daughter and I'm the one who plays tag with her.
I'm home now so back to the bike rides and the stricter tracking and calories.12 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, a 60 minute Barre class. I have taken Barre classes for years, with various instructors. Today was the first time I took a class with an instructor with a ballet background, she brought a totally different approach and finesse than I was used to. Of course, I immediately signed up for more classes with her.

@Ja_Kl Thanks for posting the video. I like that he added the Harry Potter element to it too!😂. This was timely for me too as I've started lifting weights and need to be patient with myself in regards to the scale.

@SummerSkier I've also committed to 2500 miles in 2021....but mine is counting actual steps (fitbit), not miles. It works out to be just under 5 million steps! But I'm sure YOU'LL do amazing! You're a ROCKSTAR!4 -
