Taking Pass Day #1 for the month. I wasn't feeling well today, so I decided to make it a rest day and I ate oddly as my stomach was bothering me. I did still get my 10K steps, so my streak is still alive!4

That's why we are here, @idoliov ! Don't give up! If on your first attempt(s) here you "just" make it in the champignons' list, those that dont give up, even if they use more passes, then you won! I've been there and done that!2 -
Yes, yes, and yes
Treadmill and 40 min functional strength
@LazyBlondeChef Thanks to you mentioning it, I also secured my Valentine's Day award on my watch. I should have been aware of it but forgot until I saw your post. And then funny thing is that it did not register until a couple of hours later. So I kept exercising thinking I had done something wrong. So I got in extra exercise trying to get it to appear. It wasn't until after I took a nap that it decided to appear. Go figure... lol3 -

@idoliov
I just went through this. I believe learning how to turn this around more & more quickly over time is how we find success. Each time I do, I have another insight or skill to help me next time.
This is a KEY skill!
Things I learned over the past 5 years:
* 10,000 steps is essential for me. Gives me extra calories, makes me more relaxed, inspires my art practice, has a significant positive impact on my heart, blood pressure cholesterol and blood glucose- all are low
* fitness feels awesome. Gives us a goal after the weight is lost.
* sugar stimulates my appetite
* excessive salt stimulates my appetite
* foods that have sugar/fat&salt are really tough for me to manage (Ie I can’t) so I don’t stick them in the house.
Ex: homemade crispy roasted potatoes in olive oil - no problem
Same thing with a lot of salt - difficult to stop
McDonalds French fries that have dextrose & trans says - impossible not to finish
* If I reduce the above, and still have trouble, it’s emotional for me. I mull over what could be bothering me—the tough ones are when the real issue is hidden under another. Usually once I find the hidden one, I get back on track.
* “Food won’t fix it, but will just give me two problems to fix.”
* Feel, don’t feed, the feelings.”
If none of this works, the best advice I’ve heard is don’t try to lose. Raise your calorie goal & maintain. Then when feeling more in the mindset, decrease it slightly or a lot, as you wish.
A few things to ask yourself..
* Are you under extra stress?
* Do you have kitchen stocked with healthy, tasty options?
* Do you plan and prolog a “treat” for each day or every other day?
* Do you need a Maintenance break?
* What have you done for you lately? Bubble bath, a lively walk in nature, chatting with a friend, slow stitching, a fun tv show, reading, doodling while you listen to your favorite music, decluttering a drawer (I find that supremely satisfying; you b me at not LOL), etc.
My Best,
Maddie
PS During the months I had more than three Pass Days. I’d just write “More than 3 Pass Days” (No reason to count them up, if it makes you feel worse.) other folks like to count them. Whatever helps you more
I’ve had bigger losses during months with more pass days than some of the months I had zero. It’s easy to negate a month of dieting (for me) with a single pass day.
It’s all about self-honesty & knowing why you want to lose or maintain.6 -

Plans for setting calorie goalFor February, I will be joining the others in the group that are here for accountability while maintaining. I am adding 200 calories/day to my January target calories, for a total of 1680. For comparison, MFP stated that my maintenance calories should be 1610. We’ll see how this goes and adjust daily calorie goal if I begin to consistently gain.
Also, I will consider calories a “yes” if either my food is under 1680, or my net is under 1400. Both of those numbers are 200 calories above my January numbers.Date: 2/1

Today was also my “second” run. Shorter than my first, but I needed to make sure my second run was a success so there would ever be a third. I did throw in a hill AND the one time I passed my friendly speed detector I sped up and got it to flash a “9”. :P

*** I owe a bunch of responses and will catch up today. At dinner time last night, I made gnocchi but scalded my hand and dropped my iphone into the recently boiling water when I tripped on the dishwasher door while carrying the pot to drain while calling for information to help get my advanced senior parents their COVID vaccinations. Amazingly, saved the gnocchi, iphone works (was in the hot water at least 5 minutes – Kudos to Apple), parents got their appointments, and I after a long evening trying to treat my hand I feel asleep with mega dose of advil and my wrapped hand in a bucket of cold water. This morning, I think it is going to be ok. Still tender, but I think I won’t lose any skin. Last night, I tried to type on the computer but could not, and for my indoor cycling I did it will my hand raised over my head. The cycling increased blood flow made my hand burn like heck. BUT, no Pass day. I am saving those for something I enjoy!!!

*** Completed 1400+ miles of driving and got to MIL’s florida home for the night. Leaving again in the morning. Walked her neighborhood after dark with my led arm bands and thought my “strolling” sneakers would cut it. They did not. Cut walk short. Those were my only shoes I packed for the road trip. Will remember next time to bring another option.

@RangerrickL I LOVE sloppy joes and have not had them in years. You have inspired me to get some made!
The romantic aspect of a Burger King drive through was the fact Hubby put up with my making him commit days in advance to what drive through we would go to Sat and Sun so that I could pre-track my selections and maintain control of the food aspect of our journey. Saturday was Chick-fil-A (wow! their Kale crush salad is delicious) and Sunday was Burger King. Maybe tomorrow I'll surprise hubby with Sloppy Joe's for old time fun!2 -
@SModa61 I'm not a kale fan. I try, but fail. Rose loves to make salads with kale. She tries to hide it.

I also secured my Valentine's Day award on my watch. I should have been aware of it but forgot until I saw your post. And then funny thing is that it did not register until a couple of hours later. So I kept exercising thinking I had done something wrong.
For some reason those special awards often don't show up until the next day. Mine wasn't there yesterday at all. A couple years ago I did one for thanksgiving day and my watch ran out of battery so I completely lost it. I was a little sad. Hard to believe that we adults can be motivated by such a simple thing.
I like everything @MadisonMolly2017 said. Even though this is only my third month here I have made the effort to say yes to 2 out of 3 when I take a pass day (planned or not). If I'm going to blow calories then I at least do the 20+ minutes of exercise. If I'm not going to exercise than at least stay within calorie limits. Logging just happens as there is no way to know if you're within calories otherwise.
But nobody should beat themselves up over a pass day. Tomorrow is a clean slate.3 -
@LazyBlondeChef You have the right attitude about not letting a simple "no' become a complete wreck.
Well done!!!
Thanks for sharing,
Rick1
