Sample Low Carb 1200 Diet Menus

Options
Hi and thank you for allowing me to join this group. I am just starting this journey and am finding that I need help with making a meal plan for around 1200 Calories. I would like to find something simple that I can just follow. Haven't really been able to find something online. Any ideas or helpful hints would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much.

www.atkins.com has some free meal plans and more paid (I think). It's a place to start.

Have you checked your local library for either physical books or ebooks? Our library offers low carb/keto diet cookbooks with meal plans through Hoopla. I have been enjoying Rocco Dispirito's'Keto Comfort Food' cookbook that includes a meal plan.

I don't key my food here because fatsecret works on my phone and I can only desktop for MFP...however, my 1200 cal days typically are some variety of 3 eggs for breakfast (sometimes with peppers/onion/mushrooms, sometimes with chicken or sausage, sometimes with ham/cheese, or other varieties, but you get the idea)...some kind of salad with about 6 oz protein for lunch so like a chicken caesar salad or a tuna salad or a chicken taco salad...dinner is usually some kind of 4-8 oz meat and green vegetables...

Today's menu was cereal for breakfast...salmon/cream cheese on a bun for lunch (because we're out of bagels) and goat and green beans for dinner...mostly because we have a ton of cereal and with the snow we happen to be almost out of eggs and salad and not going to the store anytime soon.

In any case, I think the biggest thing that helps me is to plan the whole day in the morning, so you aren't stuck at the end of the day with too few calories...also, I like to have a plain salad as a snack if I get super hungry and can't wait between meals...for me it's just focus on lean meat and non-starchy vegetables and then you can fit a decent volume of food into 1200 calories...start by keying in meals you might want to eat and then see how the calories fall and adjust either the portions of the planned meals accordingly...if you know you will want to snack, then plan for that as part of meal planning for the day.

You could eat 3 eggs 3 times a day or 1/2 pound of ground beef 3 times a day.

Funny you should mention 1200 calories. Lately, I've been on a One-Meal-A-Day (OMAD) kick wherein I fast most of the day and then consume most to all of my calories for dinner and I've been trying to stick close to 1200 calories. You can take a look at my diary as I've been pretty good lately about logging what I'm eating. Mind you, much (most) of what I eat, I tend to make at home.

Here is another with a 30-day free trial: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/diet-plan
Just repeat that plan if you don't like paying ;)
Also, as a basic plan you can't go wrong with Dr. Westman's 4-page plan (set MFP to 1200 cals and work it out on your own):
