Yes to exercise. No to tracking and food. My third pass day. As explained in the prior day's post, a planned pass day after a week of dealing with identify theft. I have to say it does not help to log onto MFP and find these sketchy friend requests either with their somewhat suggestive poses after having dealt with my current issues. Other than that, happy to be on track with food and exercise regardless of outside influences.4

@biketheworld : keep doing what you're doing for just a little longer👍. Same happens to me, but I just keep on working out 🏋♀️ /🚴♀️/🤸♀️ and just try to have some calories left (I actually set MFP to maintaining, because it was o/w too frustrating). I also guestimate, but have logged food for over 2 decades and am on MFP for like 15y. So I kinda know what is what (I still weight cereals, backed goods when I can, sometimes a steak or else use package description. Cooked meals are cups - but this is not advisable unless you've been at it for a little while). But trust me, some mornings I could just jump 🤸♀️ on the scale until it cracked 😠. Take February: I started a 🏋♀️ program and totally forgot that muscles retain on water when put more to work, in order to repair. So for days I just thought: stupid scale. Well... silly me! 🤭
So you just keep at it! 🙌 Be ready to listen to your body, to observe, to adjust, to be kind to yourself. 🌹4 -
@biketheworld The scale can be so frustrating! So many things can cause it to fluctuate. Our hormones and water weight being the two big culprits. As @dewit was saying, whenever I strength train my weight is up the next day because my muscles hold on to more water. You might have just had more salt in something the night before. Hang in there!💕4
-
@biketheworld I'm sorry you are so frustrated. Emotions rule almost all of us.
BTW, I am with you in that I am not trying to be at ideal weight, I am trying to be reasonable and fit for life.
Please celebrate your victories. Getting on the scale every day is not a self-friendly thing to do.
Your friend, Rick3 -
My exercise felt so doggone good. I flipped a tire with my trainer 40x in 5 mins. YAY. Tracked, but over.
Despite this pass day, I'm in the running for the Winner's circle2 -

@LazyBlondeChef - hope you got some good quality sleep. Insomnia is horrible.
@Bovaryoo - so much for an "easy" spin class. I bet you did great on the HIIT!
@snowshoe072 - I've never been to Lake Placid - another "bucket list" destination for sure. Glad you got to enjoy a beautiful day out.
@mshawski - enjoy your time with BFF - food included! Sounds like you have some necessary celebrating and commiserating to do.
No winners circle for me - I'm up to 5 pass days. Even though I'm still here, I'm not feeling like any kind of winner. Very frustrated. February was a hot mess for me. The first 2 weeks I really struggled and ended up gaining a few pounds - by last week I had all that back off. This week has been pretty good but this morning I was up TWO pounds. Shocked, depressed, frustrated. I changed my calorie goal from losing 1 lb per week to losing 1 1/2. I do have to "best guess" all my calories so maybe my guesses are way off. Or, maybe I'm 62 and this is just how it's going to be. It doesn't help that hubby came home from the doctor 2 days ago and said "I lost 6 pounds!" - from a man that hasn't been trying to lose weightm eats enough for 2 or 3 people and is a complete couch potato. I'm certainly not mad at him - but when I log my food, count my calories, workout regularly, and I fight for every .2 calories, it just gets frustrating and I wonder if I'm kidding myself about ever being anywhere close to thin again. Really, I'm not aiming for "thin" - I just want to be reasonable and it's looking unattainable.
@biketheworld I think you might have the night heat pegged and world if there is not greater susceptibility for our age.
Sorry you are having such a struggle. It is hard when others, whomever they may be, find losing or maintaining weight much simpler. I grew up in a home where my mother and sisters had no weight issue and food was for subsistence. I was the “chunky” one at 125 and just shy of 5’5”. My father was heavier and much more food oriented, which is how I am, and still am. My challenge right now, though I am getting through, is I am not finding time for my planning and pretracking. Finding that time and filling in my plan takes the “what will it eat” with the fridge door open which helps with bad spontaneity. And also when I’m doing that planning, I try to work in and include foods I am happy about so deprivation is less than an issue. Writing you is making me realize that I really need to be finding that planning time again that has not existed these past two weeks.5 -

@dewit
This❣️ (Great advice!)
@biketheworld
I’ve been weighing myself every day (even taking scale on camping trips) because every other time I lost weight I gained it back - and I had stopped weighing because of an uptick on the scale. Then I’d “wake up” months later, blinking at the scale thinking “well how did that happen?”
NOT THIS Time. I decided before I began dieting that this would be the LAST time, so I had to learn how to treat my morning weigh in just as data. SO I would not mindlessly gain the weight back again. Now, after 3-4 years of this, I can usually predict what if the scale will be up or down - or at least explain it after the fact.
Every time it pops up *for me* It’s some combination of:
Eating late
More sodium than normal
Fewer fruits & veggies
Hot weather
When I was lifting at the gym, I gained some weight over time, but my inches were smaller. I was fine with that!
You’ve got this. Look at weekly, monthly, yearly trends; not individual data points, for they will just drive you crazy.

Only day I can remember in Maintenance when I went pretty much “off the rails.”
I ate a whole bag of cookies I didn’t even like while mindlessly watching a tv show. The whole time, I consciously ate each one, I told myself “this won’t help your feelings” nodded. & then took another.
And honestly lucky for me, I didn’t feel well & my body really wasn’t happy. I feel lucky my body reacted so clearly.
I’m not doing that to it again.
Part of what I’m grappling with is the restriction of caffeine including decaf (which is all I drink) & dark chocolate. Those have been my go-to “treats” these past 5 years.
I will figure this out.

@MadisonMolly2017 You got this! You have overcome lots of past challenges and you will overcome this period of grief. I am always prone to comfort myself with food when dealing with loss of a loved one.3

@SummerSkier, Loved the pic of Bandit and glad to see that Texas is snow-free again!
@thabit11 Way to go on your step challenge!
@snowshoe072 Loved your pic of the snow-covered mountain!
@znaoiec Sorry you had identity theft happen to you! I had a friend go through this, and it's challenging and frustrating getting it all sorted out! You are getting crazy sexy pic friend requests too? Every day that I sign into my account, I get at least 2-3 a day! They have girl names, but I can clearly tell that this is a man behind this pic because no woman in her right mind would post these types of pics on here!
@SModa61 Since when is 125 pounds at 5'5 considered a chunky weight?
@biketheworld, I am sorry to hear you are struggling with your weight loss, and it can be very frustrating, especially when you feel that you are doing things correctly! I can't weigh myself every day, for this very reason! I do not want to judge my body based on the scale. I have an Aunt Joni, and she NEVER weighs herself! She is ALWAYS nice and thin, but she eats right and exercises and indulges every once in a while, kind of like our group UAC rules! I weigh on the first of the month and the last day of the month! I find this works best for me! I started in October, and each month except for December, I lost 6 pounds a month! In December, I lost 5 pounds and a total of 29 pounds for 3 months! YOU can do this too! Do NOT think of losing weight and think about getting healthy! I shifted that thinking too, and when I did, the weight started coming off! Tomorrow is a new day; hang in there!5 -

@biketheworld I feel your frustration, I have been fighting obesity for over 15 years. I go on and off, but even when I'm off I keep feeling guilty for eating a lot. I have never reached my healthy weight. I don't even know the number of attempts I have tried. But honestly, it's only one way, whether we take it slow , fast, stop midway or keep going. Continuing is the only option.
And some people are so lucky, they don't understand the struggles we face, but when we win, we will become better people. So, please don't feel guilty or frustrated, we can never have perfect day everyday, month as well, this is life after all.3 -

Pass Day 3️⃣
Gosh. Don't be too hard on yourself Maddie. You are still struggling with a huge hole in your household. Just put it aside and carry on as I expect you have done the past 2 days. It IS exactly why I have the goblets of marbles. When I look at all the full goblets (for being on track) versus the one goblet with 4 marbles in it the perspective is real. In maintenance it's the longer term we have to strive for. None of us is perfect of course so carry on as I am sure you are. And giving up ALL coffee just sucks but I imagine that is for the irreg heart beat. Our health is so precarious sometimes.
Yesterday was a stressfull rollercoaster day for me and I really could have just said screw it and eaten everything in the kitchen. But something about knowing how my body would react to that and how I would feel ill just kept me from responding to the situations in that respect.
Best of luck and many hugs from your Tx friend.4 -
