Yesterday, it was obvious that team members hold different views regarding what they each consider “countable” exercise to meet the 20 minute rule.
In the UAC, your definition of what you believe applies to you is respected.
It has been my observation that the most important rule is tracking your caloric intake.
Measurement matters!
Long term success is most often achieved by management of our intake. The fork and spoon are mightier than our sweat.

@RangerRickL
I have noticed the same!
What’s the saying? “You can’t outrun a bad diet”?
Thank you for the reminder!

@RangerRickl and @MadisonMolly2017 for me this is a 100% true. I use to workout 7 days a week but was always over weight. The moment i cut my food intake down that's when the magic on the scale started to happen. Took me a really long time to realise this, if only i knew this sooner. Xox12

Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
Good day today. Got walk in between the rain showers. Walk pace is slowly increasing. I will soon need to step up to the next harder path.
I also feel like I got more done at work today than normal.
Definitely "you cannot out exercise a bad diet" continues to apply.
I was happy that yesterday I stayed in budget when I totalled everything up. So even with less that normal exercise day activity I was still on target with my weight management goals.12 -
When working at WW, I regularly heard people complain that they were not losing despite exercising. An interesting response from one of my favorite leaders was that exercise had a more important role in maintaining weight than the actual loss of weight. Just a different angle to think about.
For me, while yes my exercise contributed some to the weight I lost, at approaching 60 I really want to push to include exercise for my health, strength and mobility. I see daily through my father the impact of no exercise. I don't want this for me, and I want to also lessen how much of a burden I will be to my children. ( I read something at some point that a key indicator of how long one will live is whether one can get up from the floor unassisted and without even using ones hands.) With the daily goals of the UAC challenge, I have done some form of formal exercise virtually every day since October 1, 2020. That is unheard of for me. Is it automatic and natural yet? No, but certainly getting closer.11 -
Regarding what activities are considered exercise I can't help but recall a saying that applies to all of fitness, but I originally heard in regards to running; Don't compare your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 20.
This challenge is about challenging yourself, challenging what you can do, and holding yourself accountable to meeting those challenges you set for yourself.13 -

3 x Yes. Calories under budget, I'm almost eating normally again now, but still avoiding my usual spicy food. Trying to eat more protein and less carbohydrate and fat.
Managed to squeeze in 20 minutes walking between monsoon-like rain showers. It doesn't rain here often, but twice a year we get a day or two of literally torrential rain. Today was one.
Logged everything. @MizSpiffy I try and pre-plan my meals when I can, partly depending on what's in my fridge and needs finishing. I buy whatever I need for the day. That way I am already mostly logged, but it's flexible. I am also likely not to go over calories.
I had another reasonable night's sleep, which helps!9 -
Despite a chaotic day at work, it was a good day. Our Jiu Jitsu gym moved to a new location where we have our own space so don’t have to stack out the mats for every class. Today was first classes in the new space and it was great. We also changed some of the classes up and it worked great. Prepping for competition definitely makes you push that bit harder than normal but it feels so good. Ate well, avoiding wheat this week which triggers my asthma (which I don’t need to deal with at competition) and all under budget.10

It's amazing when I switch over to more heart healthy foods how much more VOLUME there is. I do feel better without the yasso and enlighten stuff all in my bod. And with the juices it's just in time for helping hydration this time of year when the humidity is on "SWIM".

This is so true! Finding your own challenges and goals and working to achieve them is what we all need to do. I’m retired so I can potter round all day and I wouldn’t normally call housework as “exercise”. However, at the weekend I did much more housework than usual because I was having people over – the first time for months as our lockdown rules prevented visiting. So, I did count some of that as exercise.
My main exercise is cycling but that doubles up as fun and shopping. I only take the car for shopping about once a month for bulky/heavy stuff.

Exercise – yes, 30 minutes bike ride, 30 minutes light cardio and a short walk.
Tracked – yes
Calories – yes
Pass days – 2 left
(pass day taken May 5th)
I’m away on a short break next week so I’m “banking” some calories this week. I prefer to bank calories before a known event rather than go into debt and have to claw back afterwards.

So posting on the early end today. Day was fully tracked with some amount of spare calories available. Then I went grocery shopping. Note to self.... Do not walk down the ice cream isle. Anyhow, was convinced that for once I could eat a measured portion, which is what I started with...... and then I ate the whole container. Anyhow, my action that was new is that I tracked the entire thing. Yes, I am negative on calories. No surprise. Now I am going to try something different. I am going to put today on credit and see if an I pay back that negative number and not forfeit another pass? Normally, I would have just not tracked the binge, and taken a pass, but taking decisions based on an informed position is better. Sooooooo This is an experiment for me and we'll see if it is a positive experience. Ultimately, what is right is what promotes my healthiest actions. I'll continue to report in and we'll see what happens.
So current standing on May's passes is the following:
Pass day: 3
No-pass day: 6
Pass pending: 1 (-1350 on May 10th)10 -
Pass day number 3. I can see a fourth one in the horizon but I'll fight it off with all my might!!!12
