NSV - Able to climb those tough MTB trails again. Reduced sciatic nerve pain. Blood tests all normal at physical. Able to fit into all the old jeans, shorts and shirts I never threw out, hoping there would come a day when they would fit again.10

My NSV’s:
🌺 Completed my first annual survey for the National Weight Control Registry!
🌼 Successfully switched to “first thing” walks to avoid higher UV & heat. Added short evening walk, too, when weather cooled - very refreshing. My avg steps are up!
🌸 The last two days I tried an experiment. I always write my food intake in sticky notes & then enter them into my phone after I eat.
These past two days, I wrote them & tucked them into my pocket. Tonight, JUST NOW, I entered them all.
I’m under both days!!! This is a HUGE DEAL!!!!
I didn’t count calories. I didn’t use set meal times. Amazing. Simply amazing. I listened to my body. I used what I’ve learned over the years.
I might just be able to eat like a normal person. Time will tell. But today, at this moment, the holy grail, the goal I never dared dream of, might just be within reach.
It’s been a multi-year journey of experimentation, honest reflection, daily exercise, careful tracking of macro & micro nutrients, mindful eating, daily weigh-ins, and the development of an art practice that fills me up where before I used food & eating out.
As I said, fingers crossed. I’m going to try it the next two days and see! ❤️7 -
@MaltedTea - that’s a 10:57 pace which is superb!
@SummerSkier - Running shoes? You mean I shouldn’t be running in flip flops?
@alligatorob - so sorry about your dog. Such a heart wrenching thing to happen.
@mshawski - like you, I know I’ve plenty of nsv’s so why am I drawing a blank? Think, think, think.....
For my NSV, it would be that I’ve been in a couple social situations this past week that although they involved food, I was able to control myself, make good choices, stop without gorging myself, and stay within calories.
Exercise: ran 3.5 miles and worked in the garden all afternoon. Hubs and I repurposed a fence and built a structure for tomatoes and squash. We were laughing that it was either going to look total hillbilly or completely genius. Fortunately it looks pretty darn good. Not magazine worthy but very functional. Next spring we’ll be able to put plastic over it and use it as sort of a greenhouse/cold frame.

this is huge. I think you might just have found a good way for folks to transition from logging to intuitive eating with this method if they want. Congratulations!4 -

NSV - I feel better! Less knee pain, less back pain and more energy! Also clothes are fitting better.
Today - yes x 3
Lots of outdoor time today. Outdoor cleanup in the am and then friends over for a few beers and dinner in the afternoon.
I did a good job fitting in some celebration foods and still staying on target with calories.
Hubby and I split a piece of the birthday cake they brought for me so I could enjoy it without going overboard.
Thanks for the input on eating out. The Buffalo tenders are grilled chicken tenderloins basted with Buffalo wing sauce. All the flavor of wings but way less fat.4 -
@Crosbinium - Happy Birthday! 🎈🎂🎉🎊1

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, gardening most of today
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
Kitchen Closed? Yes
Going nuts with nuts today? No(11 days-free )
(I go nuts with nuts most times, trying to build a good habit this month. Counting the number of "nuts" free days. Did they say 21 days to form a habit?) Well, I am almost there.
Pass day 3/3 (this is for accountability to myself and my records)4 -

My NSV: Important events or news (good or bad) does not ruin my diet for a long time anymore. It would take at least 3-4 months to get serious again but recently (mostly since the UAC) I am right back to my rutine after either an emotional break down or a special day to celebrate whic are the causes change my rutine (eating and exercise wise).6 -
My NSV.... because of this group I have decided to work on my "nuts"7

Hello everyone, I am starting again after an 8.5 month hiatus. Yes x 3 today. NSVs: kept showing up to MFP every day even if I wasn't tracking my eating. This created mindfulness. I was more active this year than last (today is my 365 day mark on MFP). I am learning different ways to be active and have been working through a book on Self-Sabotaging behaviour. I have exchanged some bad habits for good habits and I am determined to keep going. Happy to be back in the group. I love and have missed the sense of supportive community in this challenge9

Forgot to post yesterday.
NSV: This last week suddenly 4 pairs of my leggings were too big. From falling down because they are too big in the waist, to excess material at the knees and ankles (not sure what the last two are about🤣) It's kinda funny to me because they seemed fine and then whoosh suddenly too big.8 -
A pass day because we were out celebrating a close friends 50th birthday, eating pizza plus I made a cake… my nsv is that even though I’m taking pass days, they are all better than pre UAC days. I still stick to lots of healthy habits, just go over in the evening moderately, not a blow out.8

It's now Monday and catching up with all the posts.
The NSV's everyone has shared are amazing. I did particularly like the diffinitive nature of @summerskier 's running logs of now vs a year ago. Seeing numbers can make it so clear. I also have to give a shout out to @Mrs_Hoffer for the most unique NSV - "better stamina giving massages".
@MadisonMolly2017 I found your method of easing into a more intuitive eating method inspiring. I may steal that method once i am ready.
@alligatorob So sorry about your dog!
Happy B-day to @Crosbinium
Saturday, the 15th ended up at pass day. Was helping daughter clean parts of her gut renovated new house. Spent 4 hours (yes, I timed it) on one bathroom which is actually too small to legally be built these days (it is grandfathered so does not have to be pulled). But that tells you how dirty and messy it was. Anyhow, eating and formal exercise were too distracting. So its a pass. I've also decided to give in on my current pass on "credit". My damage was such a high number that day that trying to earn it back is negatively impacting too many other days. It is not work it. So, with giving up on this "pass on credit", I am now at 5 passes for the month. Will work hard on keeping that number small.

Thanks @SummerSkier. I think it is an intriguing approach. I know it will take some time for me to “learn the ropes.” I’m committed to making maintenance as easy as I can (and still maintain.) we’ll see. If it doesn’t work, it’s fine. I can always try a year later.1 -

Thanks @SModa61 - it’s still early, but as I mentioned, my goal is to make maintenance as easy and least time-consuming as I can. I know I’ll probably have to iterate this idea over time to tailor it to my weak spots! But it’s a start!1 -

I’m late but this nsv is too good to miss and it did happen on 15th!
I stepped back on the competition mat for the first time in over two years, first time with only one kidney, first time since I broke both of the bones in my forearm in a competition! Not only did I not get injured, but I walked away with a silver medal. I’m excited to Gert back to training and prepare for my next competition (except now I need to recover from COVID first 🤦♀️)
