Being the 28th, I thought it’s a great opportunity to reflect on this past month. Did you learn anything in May that will help you better succeed in June?
Have a wonderful Friday!

28 May. WOw is it so quiet here today. Sherri have you chased everyone away? LOL
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? yes
Um what did I learn this month. Well I have been mixing up my food groups a bit in order to see if I can control my blood pressure better with different options. I learned that I really REALLY love summertime fruit (strawberries, oranges, melons, etc) and honestly in maintenance, it really is NOT he who eats the most and stays the same weight wins. What it is: more about variety is better.9 -
28th May
3 x Yes.
Just back from a day's examining in Marseille. Hectic, so the only exercise I managed was walking between hotel, Metro, bus and venue and back again, totalling 20 minutes, including a fairly steep climb up to the venue.
Stayed under calories by tough planning and bringing my own lunch. Breakfast was unpredictable, but we could pick our own, so I scorned croissants and pain au chocolat for an egg. Dinner was a delicious bowl of homemade chilli con carne, which I found lurking in my freezer compartment.
Tracking: Yes, logged everything.
I don't think I gained any insights in May that I didn't already have! Stick at it, and I will eventually succeed!

- 45 min Run
- 51 min Walk
- 33 mins Strength (DB Rows, DB Overhead Press, Band Woodchops)

Having joined here for the first time this month, I think the biggest insight I picked up in May was how helpful this challenge is in grouping the most important things needed to keep me on track. All in one place in a simple challenge format (simple only in format, execution is a whole other story). Previously I used my food diary, I would aim to keep my macros in ketosis territory daily, I tracked my exercise in various ways, and participated in other challenges for certain topics. But this challenge pulls a lot of things together that were tracked separately before. I suspected this would be a good (or at least fun) challenge to join, but after my first month I see a bit more how useful it really is.9 -
3xYES
Today was just a walk to the office and back.7 -

Exercise – yes, 2 short bike rides, walking and some light cardio
Tracking – yes
Calories – yes
I was away for a few days – with DIL and children at a seaside holiday.
So 3 pass days taken – just a few days left, hope to make the Winners Circle this month.
What have I learnt in May? We have had some contributions from people brave enough to share tough stories. We never know what other people are going through, and we must never judge others because there might be a difficult history there. Many of the members of this group have serious health issues and/or personal issues and it is humbling to read about the stories.13 -

Have a safe and fun holiday weekend ❣8 -
What did I learn this month? More like reaffirm that experimenting can yield interesting insights and, sometimes, results. A bit of TMI here for those who don't have experience with the hormone fluctuations related to menstruating. So spoiler ahead...Last month, after a week of ravenous eating, prior to - ahem - my "Aunt Flo's Visit" I marked my May calendar with a reminder 10 days before her next visit. The reminder was to question "hunger pangs" because they were really nothing but unruly hormones. All things remaining equal with my calorie intake, I noticed that while my weight fluctuated a lot in those 10 days, there was an almost immediate whoosh in weight once, umm, she left (lol at this extended euphemism).
At my age, who knows how much longer I have to put up with these visits. But at least I have a new way/perspective to better manage my approach to weight maintenance during this time.
And now for the entry...

That off days are merely blips on the plane of maintenance, and are soon smoothed out again.9 -
What did I learn this month? Not be be so focused on losing weight to be focused on health and happiness.

"Never let your failures go to your heart or your successes go to your head."
What did I learn this month? I'm learning to be more patient with myself and my body. At 60 I just can't push myself like I could even just a couple of years ago. But I'm learning how to give myself more grace and just be patient and trust the process.9 -

I have learned that those first 10 pounds are the easiest, got to work harder for the other pounds to reach my goals12 -
No exercise due to a deadline. Tracked and ate within my range. But I had a lot of sodium so that's not going to be good...
This month I just feel humbled listening to some things others go through. It makes me feel like I'm not alone. Thanks for sharing and maybe one day I will also have the strength.11 -
Pass day 3
Gotta stay disciplined for the next three days!
It's been great learning from you all in May and knowing that whether or not we make the circle, we are here to build healthier longterm habits8 -
Three yeses for today. Cleaned house & packed car, drove to maine, unloaded and after only dealing with the groceries, I got some "me" time. I went for a much needed 4+ mile walk/run. Felt great.
You guys are so amazing and I love your thoughtful responses to today's opener. After my week, I was really needing some positivity. Well, you guys brought it. Thank you all for sharing and being who you are!
What I am recognizing/learning more and more, including this month of May, is how important community is. You all are wonderful. Have a nice night!
Plenty of beach to walk!!

This month is my first month back in the north central part of the USA. I've been living for most of the last year in the desert Southwest. Since the weather has been cool and rainy, my activity level has not been as vibrant. Nonetheless, I've continued to meet the UAC goals on most days. Today was my third pass.
I really like the succinct way that @biketheworld recently stated the value of living the 3 fundamentals of the UAC. In that if you pay attention to those rules, everything else just falls into place.10 -

I figured today would be a pass day as my brother is in town to play golf so we went out to dinner with him to a nice Mexican style restaurant. I tried to stay within my calorie limits by making reasonable choices (and even avoided the chips & salsa) but after I entered some of the basics of the dishes as well as the sparking wine I had I was over though not by much. We have no plans for this US holiday weekend so I think I can avoid any more passes for the rest of the month.
I don't think I've learned anything new but I've certainly been reminded that vacations and restaurant meals have been and will continue to be a problem for me in meeting my goals.
@SModa61 Nice walk you got there8 -
Another pass day. This month is shot. Here’s to starting over with renewed energy in June.8

🍀Calories under
🍀Tracked all!
🍀Exercise 6,232 steps at altitude
Very happy that my calories are coming in under when I add my snack & dinner at the end of the day. Maintenance seems to be becoming easier. Fingers crossed.
Weighing my food & tracking it is important, but my transition to eating what I feel I need first & then checking calories seems to be progressing.
I think part of it is I’m at peace at my goal weight range & how I look. Took a while, but I’m pretty thrilled!!
What I learned this month?
1. Resting early plantar fasciitis with regular icing & the slower, fewer steps worked. Also-always wearing shoes, snuggly laced.
2. Doctors are amazing.
3. Medical tests sometimes give surprisingly unexpected & 100% healthy results!!!
4. That I truly should worry much less.
5. I’m still growing, learning, developing new interests, friends, & dreams!
6. That creating my own style of art is joyful & effortless & calming & rejuvenating
7. That travel is necessary & nature is vital to my well being!
8. That sequins & beads are magical bits of colored light!
9. That my most important job is gratefulness & keeping perspective.11 -
I haven’t really learnt anything new this month, just been reminded how much I love working towards something so even though competitions are cancelled for at least 6 weeks, I can start working towards the next one and use that as a focus point for my training.8

28th May
I came so close to the winners circle but today was a pass. Ah well back on the horse the very next day.
Wat i hve learnt? Wen i hit my goal weight 2 months ago i shld hve just went to maintainance instead of trying to continue to loose weight. Ive also learnt that my timeframe for over eating is once a week on average. Learnt that pass days dnt work for me. Ive started to track all the food i eat even on my bad days instead of just sweeping it under the rug. Lastly ive learnt wat my triggers are. I am still not able to stop the over eating yet but the positive news is i use to overeat daily so once a week is an improvement! Xox8 -
Timely question. Just this day, we did our monthly fly-in lunch. We’ll get as many as 100 people, 30 planes and a few helicopters. I spend a few hours at the grill. When things slow down, I start to graze. I pre-checked calories thinking I could stop in time, but I continued grazing leftovers until I left at the end of the day. As I think it over, perhaps if I had put my food on a plate, actually sat down for a couple minutes and ate a real lunch, the desire to graze could be stopped. That will be next months strategy.
Exercise - not really
Tracked - yes
Under - nope
Pass days used 3/3
With the holiday weekend, a ballgame, and family here, I’ll have to be extra diligent to make it to the winners circle. This is a reminder to be more diligent at the beginning of each month so I don’t get in this predicament at the end,7 -

Reading everyone’s insights was wonderful this morning. This month, I have been reminded that everyone has so much to deal with in their lives. I have also been working on closing the gap between my expectations vs my actual capabilities.
@MadisonMolly2017 - great post.4 -
Awesome thought for a daily post Sherri. Have enjoyed reading everyone's insights a lot!3
