In my opinion, one of the great things about the UAC is the kind support fellow members give each other.
Whenever there is a post regarding difficulties a member is encountering, other members reply with genuine concern and/or valuable advice to try and help that person. Just look over any few days of Sign In pages and you will see this. There is a great deal of compassionate support for other members here.
Do you allow yourself that same level of support?
I know when I make mistakes or fall short on some expectation that I have set upon myself, I feel guilty about it. Everyone has their own way of handling a bad day, or slip-up, or whatever happened that caused an inner struggle. While I strive to be encouraging and sympathetic to anyone who posted their bad day, strangely the thoughts which occasionally run around in my brain after making a mistake are not always as encouraging or sympathetic as the thoughts I would have for someone else. After all, we can be as they say, our own harshest critic.
@DebyS137 posted this quote in the June "What's on Your Mind" thread which really resonated with me and I believe is very applicable here"The more I expect, the more unhappy I am going to be. The more I accept, the more serene I am"

I wish I had something even half as deep as what you and @DebyS137 said. I’m writing that down and putting it on my bathroom mirror to see every day.
Ultimately I would say “you’re worth it. Getting healthy can be downright difficult and discouraging, but you’re worth the work. Love your future self and don’t give up. Keep showing up especially through the slumps. We won’t judge because we’ve all been there.”10 -
I speak less kindly to myself! "For *kitten* sake, do you want to lose those 15 kilos or not? Do you want to struggle on with a wonky leg and too much weight on it? No? So, stop whingeing and get on with it!" I included a profanity intentionally, because I want to see if I get a "kitten"! Yeah, got a "kitten"!8

The whole *kitten* thing cracks me up! For the longest time I couldn't figure out what it could possibly mean!!!! Now every time I see it I laugh out loud!!!! #whoknew7

Another day of driving, but we unloaded the bikes and got a nice ride into Canterbury, round the older parts of the city.
We're staying on this site for a few days, and we have WiFi!

When we left our office back on 13 Mar (Fri the 13th!) to WFH it was not yet a thing and we had only the Chinese New Year experience to guide us so we thought it would probably last a month to 6 weeks max. No idea it would be until June 15th 2021!!
So in my desk:
nail polish. totally dried up
those coffee creamer tubs. 2 boxes. Expired Nov 2021 ewwww
a couple boxes of gum. Tried some. tasted like cardboard
My CALENDAR was still set to Mar/April 2020....
among other various and sundries but those were the funny ones. Of course I have left snacks in my car or truck for way too long before and even wrapped they tend to end up tasting like car or truck after a few weeks so I learned not to do that.

We all have bad days. I choose not to dwell on them. I am stopped beating myself up a long time ago.
When things don’t go to plan, I don’t waste time or energy on regret or recriminations, I look for how I can fix it or, learn from the experience.

@Chinkiri and @Mrs_Hoffer I also find the whole *kitten* thing *kitten* hilarious! And I sometimes wonder if they actually typed *kitten* or something else. Sometimes I type *kitten* because I know the *kitten* censors will change it to *kitten*

I was also able to get in a 62 minute walk.6 -
Reporting earlier. Closing kitchen now. Squeezed in a 2 mile walk while I got hubby to walk the cats. Everything tracked (not proud of it all) and under calorie goal. I expected to not make it today, but pulled it off. Three yes.6

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, 30 minutes on the stair stepper, and I will be cleaning like a mad woman shortly. We are going away on a last minute weekend road trip tomorrow (the first time I will have traveled more than 10 miles since February 2020!) and my husband refuses to board/kennel the dog. So, a wonderful friend is dog and house sitting, and the house is definitely not "company clean"!

Today's question is a great one for me! I would say I have a very hard time being kind to myself. I am the first one to give others encouragement, but I have a very difficult time being kind to myself. I tend to focus on the positives in others, and the negatives in myself. I am trying to encourage myself in a positive way - it's a work in progress!

Thanks @WhatMeRunning This is an appropriate post for ME today. I had a terrible day today. Waaaayyy too much stress at work - back in the office! There's not much work for us to do so I just don't understand why we have to go back into the office just yet! Ugh. And there's free food everywhere! Seriously?????? Who does that?! It doesn't help that I really don't like this job any more. I have 1 more year and I'll have 20 years with this company - and I plan to "retire" and get another job locally. By the time I got home from work (and after giving massages tonight too) I can't even begin to add up all the calories I ate today. I'm so upset with myself..... and my stepson and grandkids are coming in tomorrow night to stay with us for about 5 days... so the sweets are going to continue to abound in my house. Ugh. Double ugh. I'm just trying not to beat myself up.... and give myself "grace". I like what @TerriRichardson112 said!

So what would I say to someone who is struggling?
I’d say we’ve all been there. We’ve all messed up. Failure isn’t falling down. Failure is not getting back up.
There’s one thing I do to help myself when I feel like I just want to eat something at the end of the day that’s more than the allotted calories I have left. I tell myself I can still have it TOMORROW! Most of the time that works. But you all know I still mess up plenty!

@MadisonMolly2017 keeps talking about how important our habits are. I was thinking about that this morning when I was jogging. I’d just found out about an hour before that a friend of mine passed away from ALS. I knew the end was near, but I still feel so bad for the family. That’s where habits come in. I could’ve just skipped my workout, but it’s a habit that’s so ingrained that it never even occurred to me to skip it.5
