Happy Wednesday!!!I am posting this in advance as I will be with my family visiting Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. This includes my husband, two adult sons, daughter-in-law and 20 month old granddaughter. Visiting and hiking at National Parks is something that brings all of us together as a family. We introduced our sons to this as children and their love of it continues as adults. And now they have introduced the same to our young granddaughter who thrives on hiking with her parents in her little backpack. It is wonderful to see yet another generation embracing our love of nature and fitness.
Do you have a fitness related activity that brings you together with your family and friends?

Awesome post @znaoiec !! I hope you're having a WONDERFUL time in Yellowstone with your family! DH and I have often talked about seeing how many of the national parks we can visit after I retire. It sounds like so much fun!
DH and I used to love to hike. For his bday every year in Feb I would surprise him with a "get-away" somewhere - we would rent a cabin for a long weekend and go hiking and just spend hours in the woods! A couple of years ago he broke a bone in his foot and it's never been the same. He still walks, but cannot hike long distances in the woods like he used to.
Another story: My best friend Betty used to do what she called "walk and talk" where she and a couple of her neighbors on her dead end street would meet up and go for a walk to the end of the street and back. They would get together like this every evening after supper and catch up on all the neighborhood "gossip" (or just the gossip in each others lives!) Whenever I was visiting her (she lived in TN) of course I would walk with them as well! One would text or call the other and say "are we ready to walk and talk?" Lol.12 -
@znaoiec - your post brings me such joy. I started smiling as soon as I saw the Snoopy image. Yellowstone and Tetons are amazing places, and how special that you get to explore them with family. When my girls were little, we often went to a state park that has fantastic hiking, climbing over boulders, sloshing through water, etc. My girls are now grown with their own families and that park continues to be their favorite place to return. I am so glad the love of the outdoors is being passed along.
@Mrs_Hoffer - I have a similar situation. About a year after we were married, DH fell down our stairs and wrenched a knee. He refused to see a doctor thinking ibuprofen and rest would fix it. Things really deteriorated after that and although he is still mobile, he’s pretty slow and often wears a brace to help. We still travel and do the things we enjoy, just at a little slower pace.6 -

@donna25trinity Yayyyy on getting so close to your goal! You can get there!
My sister and I often go for walks with my son - it was a bit better when he was younger and still fit in his stroller but he's 2.5 now and he's the size of a 4-year-old so he doesn't fit anymore (his dad is 6'4" so he's gonna be a tall boy!). We also use our Apple Watches for an ongoing friendly competition with the inbuilt sharing features. It's nice that when one of us completes a workout, the other gets a notification and can respond with something encouraging or something cheeky!
July 21st:
✅ Tracked all my calories
✅ Stayed under calorie goal
✅ Exercised more than 20 mins (played Audio Trip on my VR for 45 mins - a new game I hadn't played before, it was really fun and worked up a sweat!)
7/21 days (started July 12th, so 7/10 days from when I started)
3 pass days used
Freggies: 1+5 - A colleague brought us coffees which I hadn't budgeted for, so I skipped my afternoon snack that included a serve of fruit. We had homemade tacos for dinner, so lots of salad veg included there and I added avocado. My homemade bolognese pie I had for lunch is packed with veg as well - mushrooms, onion, cherry tomatoes, as well as the canned tomatoes & tomato paste that make up the sauce!8 -

My body was extra tired today so I traded in my normal Wednesday run for 45 min of yoga, and let me tell you they do not burn the same number of calories. I stuck with my meal prepped day though so I’m like 200 cals over because I ate what I planned but didn’t burn what I planned.8 -

Happy belated Birthday @snowshoe072, wishing you lots of blessings in the coming year!
@znaoiec What a wonderful way to spend a vacation!
Our family vacations were spent similarly. Exploring somewhere new while hiking, biking, swimming and canoeing or kayaking.
Yes x 3 today. Barely scraping by with staying under calories; slowly getting on track after my hiatus 🤦♀️. On a positive note, my husband offered to pick up a gyros dinner for me for supper. While greatly tempted, I declined. I had a few days where I enjoyed some treats but I told him I need to stay on track for the rest of the month. A small win, but a win nonetheless!5 -
Thanks for all the birthday wishes a really nice day finished off with a late bday lunch with my younger sister today I even made a wise salad choice at Panera. All three done but I think the birthday cake will be a nemesis until it’s gone perhaps I shall work on that tonight!4

Fruits/Veggies- 4-5
Actually, today we went to Callaway Gardens, which was fantastic. We walked some trails while and saw a show Birds of Prey. My family has always liked going on trails together. My dad was telling me I actually had been here before when I was in a stroller and he was stationed nearby.3 -
Ohhh another great starting post! My husband spent most of his childhood in the mountains or on the ocean. He does not like being indoors. He has a business that requires all outdoor work. At 6 he had a little boat with a little motor and would disappear. Same in the mountains, tracking etc. As a parent, this baffles and terrifies me. I grew up in the city. While we walked, it was purely of necessity. My husband has taught me to love the outdoors. This was not something I was exposed to growing up and I didn’t know what I was missing. Our adult children, although we did not raise them as wolves, love the outdoors and spend their vacations skiing, sailing, hiking, camping and so many other outdoor activities with their families/friends and often with us. I will camp, but it is not my favorite and I may or may not complain just a teeny tiny bit.

Wow, another great topic today! @znaoiec I envy you some of the places you’ve hiked!
I just finished an evening hike in Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains.
As a family growing up, we hiked through the woods, camped, played tennis, rode bikes etc. We’ve done all of that during different phases with our own kids but hiking is the big thing these days.
@donna25trinity Congrats on getting so close to your goal! You’re going to make it this time for sure!

@snowshoe072 I’m so glad you got to have a belated birthday celebration with your sister! Well done on making a great choice having a salad! You know, birthday cake does freeze. You can slice it and double ziploc individual slices and it will be good for 3 months.3

@Jana_2020 Well done getting back on track after a short hiatus! If I’m off track one day, it’s not terribly difficult getting back on, but if I am off track 2 or more days, it’s a bear getting back on track! Or maybe I should say, I become a bear!2

@znaoiec Thanks for your excellent post. We raised our 4 kids to love the outdoors. Long distance multiple day bike trips and horseback riding and camping in the western United States. Now, Rose and I love to hike in the Arizona desert (usually November through April).
@donna25trinity Congratulations!! You have been very committed to your family and goals!!4
