Hi guys!!
Okay... I am trying to get back on track here. I am so glad to be back at my real home. I joked that the first week back, I was going to be so lazy that if breathing didn't come natural, I would just die. LOL.... Well, on my drive back I began getting a sore throat and it is now a full fledge cold. I'm monitoring my symptoms to see if I need to be COVID tested. As of now, no fever and I can smell. So much for enjoying my first week home. I have not been sick (excluding osteo/ortho issues) in about 5 years - two colds this summer. This stinks! Complaining is over.
I am working on my August goals and trying to be realistic and not setting myself up for failure. I feel like I have started each month strong, but a week or 2 into it I fall off. I have gained a lot back and don't have this option anymore. I was 188 on Saturday. I think realistically I can be 180-183 by the end of the month. I am going to hold off for a few days on my fitness goals till I feel better.
I think I have sent a FR to all the new members. I encourage everyone to friend each other, too. We can support each other on and off the thread.

Weigh in...Friday

Argh..... pretty sure I posted this but don't see it.... want my new weigh in day to be Friday, please.
This is not a good week. Too much of life going on and food is my solace. Need to get things straight and get back on track..
I have 2 months before knee surgery. Would like to lose 15 or 20 pounds. Need to gain leg strength....was on a good routine for leg exercises but that stopped within the last week, dont know when, just realized I wasn't doing my exercises.
Argh... I have no excuses.
Retired...work is not a factor.
I'm lazy? That sounds bad.
Traveled today...fast food.
Travel home tomorrow...gotta do better.
Only I can make this change.......9 -
1.Nothing of value comes without effort.
2.What you want is determined by what you do.
Have both of these quotes on my list of things to ponder.
Think I'll put some thought into both if these quotes and wake up to a new day with a new start.6 -

Argh!! So back to the weight jumping.. I don’t love how I fluctuate like this.. Dr said it’s normal.. i just want steady loss.. argh!!
We have adopted nightly walks (husband and I) approx 2 miles a night…. So that should help a little bit.. I know I need to focus on the daily logging… logging helps..

My last weigh in was WAY WAY up! I stepped on the scales today and they are dropping. Guess this is the bonus of being under the weather. 🤣🤣🤣
I have no appetite today. Simply trying to stay hydrated.4 -
@dew11252 - Thanks for sharing your inspirational quotes. I really like this one: “What you want is determined by what you do.”
@peachplace - Walking 2 miles each night is great! Good for you (and your husband)!
Congratulations on another fantastic loss @chublet25. That’s amazing progress!
@Beka3695 - I’m sorry you’re not feeling well but glad to see you’re coping well and maintaining a sense of humor. Laughter can be good medicine.
I’m happy to see so many names listed in the August Habit Tracker! Wishing you all well in meeting your daily targets. Go Shrinking Assets!5 -

Weigh Day Wednesday

Small victories rock! I was so dreading getting on the scale this morning because yesterday work was a rough day. I didn’t eat breakfast-got floated to PACU for 3 hours before returning to my OR and doing 2 REALLY long cases (not eating/peeing all day…..nurses are the worst) Needless to say, my stress was UP and I was exhausted by the time I left……so hit a drive-thru for dinner. Tried to keep it light, but still felt guilty…..so I’m happy happy happy for my small weight loss this week. What helped me: I charted my food/activity EVERY Day. This week my new habit to add is: get that 110 ounces of water in every day. Thanks for the support and let’s keep Shrinking our Assets 😎8 -

It's been a bit of a crazy week. I started working at my friend's frame shop on Monday and was on my feet all day, which hasn't been the norm for a very long time. I'll be helping twice a week. I had over 11500 steps that don't count as exercise on MFP. So I don't think I ate enough. I may need to add a few hundred extra calories on my new work days. Yesterday I was back in the pool doing laps. I'm just recently back to the pool and after a few adult swim lessons to go over breathing and form, I'm working to build up. I usually swim a lap freestyle or crawl and then use the kick board for a lap. I'm trying to minimize breaks and am focused on completing 50 minutes each time. I love the pool and am so excited to go. I swim 2x a week, take Orange Theory classes x 2 and hike with my sister on Sundays. I'm feeling good about my exercise routine.
This is my first month with this group and I'm so excited to be here for the encouragement and support. Thank you!!
Quick question: My PW next week will be what I weighed today and not my starting weight for August?6 -
@coblujay Correct. Your PW next week will be your CW today.
You've got a great exercise routine!2 -
@sigma3girl I know why you said it, for the lack of eating/peeing...but let me just say NURSES ARE THE BEST! Good job on logging. I know that helps me too.3

AWESOME LOSS! Apparently all that hard work, on so many fronts, paid off!2 -
I changed by weigh date from Tuesday to Friday because I made a trip to my Aunt's - she had a doctor appt I needed to attend. didn't know when I would be back and Friday works good.
However - - I got on the scales this morning (returned home last evening) and the scales reflects that I have been partying big time!!!!!!!
Telling you now - Friday will be a gain but I have few days to get on the right track.
That said - I did get on the elliptical this morning, something I haven't don't in a month of Sundays. Got a five minute workout. Doesn't sound like much by my knees were creaking loudly and I was out of breath. After a recovered from my workout - - I got a load of laundry started, unpacked my suitcase and gonna get some more done around the house.
My niece is in summer school - so she arrives within the hour. I have some house tasks for her ($$) and grocery shop.
New month - new day. I can't change the past, but I make good decisions today.

I gained, again. I have a hunch this is a water retention thing, though. I haven't really overeaten more than normal if that makes sense LOL.

Very mixed feelings today. I visited our company doctor today to discuss how to manage work until my maternity leave starts, as I’ve been so tired and foggy I physically don’t stay awake for a full day without napping. As a result, I’m now on full sick leave for 10 days to comply with bureaucratic rules (will still do some work, though), and then 60% work 40% sick leave until maternity leave starts mid-September. On one hand, this feels like a failure and I’m a little stressed about how to handle all the remaining tasks and handovers at work, on the other hand I’m relieved that this is taken care of, I don’t have to worry about how to make it through the next day, and I can now take it easy with a clear conscience as I have doctor’s orders to work less and rest more. I think it’s much better this way so I can cut hours in a controlled manner and stay as healthy as possible, instead of trying to push over my limits and crash to the point of complete bed rest. The doctor also ordered some additional bloodwork to make sure there are no underlying issues hiding behind pregnancy, it’s nice to get all that checked out as well.9
