Masa Harina Corn Tortillas

I've been making my own corn tortillas using Maseca Masa Harina, aka corn flour. You basically mix the corn flour, some warm water and a little corn starch and divide them into small 30-40g balls. I flattened them using a cutting board and cut ziplock baggie. Then put them on a medium-high heat cast iron for 30 seconds a side or so (or until they puff up a little.) About 40 calories per tortilla and taste MUCH better than any store bought I've found. They also don't break nearly as easily.

If you have El Milagro corn tortillas in your area, have you tried them? I might try this if you think they are better tasting than the store-bought ones I just mentioned.

Yes we have El Milagro and these blow them out of the water. The only thing I've found close are the ones found in the refrigerated section of a mexican grocer near me.

I have been considering doing this for some time, now. I think you may have pushed me over the edge. :-)
