@bradkcrew - hereβs something I heard in a podcast and it couldnβt be more true βthe diet industry has made billions of dollars telling us how to lose weight, and almost none telling us how to maintain.β Like you said, this is why our weight yo-yoβs so much. Iβve also learned that maintenance is something to practice, so that when you get there, you know what it looks like. Iβve not yet done a true maintenance cycle but plan on doing that later this year.

@seilidhe I just love the cha-cha analogy, and boy isn't that the truth! I will definitely remember that one! And I must say that your attitude is amazing. You seem to have a lot going on, yet you keep such a terrific outlook - I applaud you!! π
I was so tired last night that after reading all the posts leading up to mine, I completely forgot to log my own response to the extra credit question! Sorry about that. But like so many others, I've learned that this isn't a "diet" with an "end date" - but rather a lifelong journey. I've always been a goal oriented person in other areas of my life - once I reach a goal, I reassess and make new goals. My weight loss should be no different.2 -

Goals - for me, there is no end. As I get healthier and stronger, I want to do all the things. As I get older, my goals are adapting all those things to where I am in life. Iβm liking this retirement thing. I have a few regrets that I waited this long and didnβt retire in my 20s π€£π€£π€£π€£

I want to thank everyone for their very thoughtful replies to my question. I have never reached my ideal weight before and am still a little unsure what life will look like when I get there. I am confident that I can reach that goal this time though, and am taking all of these replies into account to help guide myself along in this journey.4 -

Another good day! β β β
We went on a day trip today and ate a late lupper (lunch and supper combined) out. I had planned for it, portioned my serving at the restaurant, packed the βtake homeβ in the containers I brought, and enjoyed every morsel. Lots of leftovers packed in those containers in the cooler we brought in the back of the car. My husband is looking forward to those tomorrow.
Whatβs the goal once I reach goal? Living a healthy life where I continue to track, plan, and keep moving. I have been very successful on WW in the past but never mastered maintenance (as the program seems to change every 18 months meaning all must be re-learned β and hmmmm that isnβt a life plan). I really like MFP so far as I can see doing this forever. Everything I am learning about calories and macros my body needs is learning for life. And if isnβt trademarked by anyone.
